How much was the motor?
Melt old refrigerator
When's the powder melt coming?

My guess is that you made more money on the UA-cam than the copper. Your videos are strangely satisfying especially with no narration.
I really like the zero narration. Its what keeps me watching.
Excellent comment. Simple & quality video. 😀👍
you make about 14 percent of the weight of the motor total in copper. plus the scrap. many scrap yards buy them as they are or sell the motors . also when stripping them dont cut both ends of the copper leave one end with the loop to pull through. far easy than knocking through.
And no shitty fucking music in the background like every other channel.
Made fiat currency from YT and made hard money in a devil’s forge
Hello from Brazil!
WOW, I work at the company that made this engine, WEG. it's amazing to see how our engines went to the whole world in the past. Nowadays the company has factory in all the continents.
cool matey yeah she was a bloody good motor for sure . There was a bigger motor in the scrap bin a week later but it must have been close to 200 kilos and i couldnt even roll it onto its side. I really wish i got that one aswell.
Hello from Torres, Brazil. Motors I use are older than that one 😆
@@bigstackD would have been a hell of a video
This man deserves 4 mil
Just recently discovered your channel...fkn awesome!!!!
I used to scrap in my younger years and made good $ as suplimental income. After watching these I should have invested in the proper equipment to make bars. Thanks for taking the time to share.
I see where I have been going wrong now - I usually start drinking much earlier in the process.
c goodwin 😂

I don't know why I find these videos so therapeutic and relaxing
aaron schen it certainly helps that I don’t jibber on about shit or have techno music blaring the whole way through 🤔👍🏻
Anyone else feel their blood pressure going down as they watch this?
Aye
These videos have recently become my nightly watch as I wait for my wife to come home from work and I've put my kids to bed. Almost asleep by the time she gets home. Satisfying and relaxing as he!!
@martin edwards heck Yea. Love it.
These disassemblies are about as satisfying to watch as the melts
Man I love watching this Amazing videos I hope everyone enjoys these videos as much as I do👍👍👍
Just wanted to say that your videos are super relaxing for me, so keep up the good work. Also Ingot is a 10/10 good boy.
Years ago I served in the US Navy aboard an aircraft carrier. It was an older conventional carrier built at the end of WW2. As an electrician I rotated through several of the shops aboard ship. I spent a few months in the Power Shop which maintained the electrical motors big and small around the ship. One guy in the shop spent all day every day tearing down failed motors for the carrier and it's support ships. He would torch out the winding for the rotors and stators and form new windings, dip them in varnish cook them and rebuild the motors. The power shop would melt down the old windings and pour copper ingots. When we came back from a cruise they would take the ingots to a local salvage yard and but a few kegs of beer for the end of cruise E Division party on the pier. When in home port the ship would shut down the steam turbo generators and run off shore power. So one of the machinist mates in the boiler rooms where the turbo generators are located decided to sell some copper too. He removed several of the bussbars from the back of the turbo control panel. Solid copper bard a few inches thick and right inches wide and six feet long. He may still be in levenworth. From then on we had to dump the scrap copper at sea. What a waste.
Dumped it in the sea ,oh man🤦♂️ At least it wont rust. Cool story buddy cheers for a bit of insight from your side of the world. 😁
Its nice to see someone knows the difference between an engine and a motor..... it's the little things sometimes the little things that we overlook that dumb us down a lot more then just a bit!
I always love watching the green flames from your copper-related videos.
Another winner. The bearings seemed good on that motor. Final product looks great.
I liked seeing the copper bar on top of its former motor housing...oh and the beer break poppin sound nice video
Cheers Eric I’m glad you enjoyed it hopefully you enjoy my other videos just as much my friend😁👍🏻🍻🍻🍻
you and e waste ben are my door to the world of cooper smelting thank you....salute from morocco
No worries at all my friend I’m glad you enjoyed both of our Aussie channels😁👍🏻
Poor cooper... he doesn’t want to be melted

I bet you can't stop looking at that copper ingot lol
It's soo beautiful and big and shiny!

i love the fact that you put all the values you could! thanks from EU
BEAUTIFUL looking copper. Your good.
I'm watching your videos for a while and still wondering why watching you melting metals and making some bars, cubes and coins is so much satisfying. It's a kind of magic I guess. Thanks !
Before you busted it open I figured about $40 Canadian. So much work, but it’s also your hobby so if you think it’s worth while then by all means keep on entertaining us. Thanks, it’s definitely very interesting to see a man work his passion.
@H&SAnimations yeah but it was easily a few hours work, his time would surely be better spent doing other things
Also I can imagine metal prices going up not down.
I spend lots of money on my hobby, competition shooting. I’m honestly never going to use those skills for anything other then competition or possibly impressing easily impressed people. Obviously this is not very profitable
+John-Paul Silke:
I just enjoy seeing molten metal being poured.
Also, I am a hobby chemist so I make various compounds for the fun of it. Currently making PbCl2 and aluminium isopropoxide.
Scrap value for a motor in the US is about $0.30 per pound. he might have made a couple more dollars just turning the whole motor in.
Those who restore old motors and machines should avoid watching this video. It was a brutal extraction of the copper coil. 👍
Yeah. It hurts me a lot.. 😫
yea it hurt to watch tbh
Why does it hurt you seeing a discarded machine being broken down?
It was an old weg motor. Not exactly anything cool.
@@CanIHasThisName Mostly because it seems like it's not the most efficient way to do it. They take motors apart without chopping up the laminations in order to rewind them. Seems like a lot of extra work, and thus wasted time, with this method.
That final copper block is just beautiful.
😁👍🏻
Is it just me or is bigstackds videos just satisfying to watch
It’s not just you I think they’re pretty good too ASMR relaxing😉👍🏻
@@bigstackD shame for today's asmr

Great bar!! Yet another fine example of rescued treasure. Keep up the work, love the vids!!
Nice job walking us through the whole process !!!!! 👍
This is one of the loveliest pieces yet! Pure fucking beauty! Heel mooi Mr. BigstackD!
I Love watching you take apart these big motors from the junkpile. Big Bad Barn from USA
and when i think it could not get any better, you come out with this...
top notch, thanks for sharing
Cheers buddy 🍻😁👍🏻
It's amazing effort I'm always proud of that people's like to recycle the thinks and use for next time for me your effort more valuable than cost list thanks for the sharing this great video regards 😊👍👏🙏
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos for us to enjoy.
About 10years ago, I visited Bunbury.
I was working at the big farm yard in Harvey and every weekend I go to Bunbury for shopping.
beautiful small town.
When his wife open the fridge and find a big ice cube
*Ah shit here we go again*
Most people don't keep ice in the fridge, odd.
It just melted right through it like it was nothing!
Cheapest way to store ice is to dig a hole in the ground, or keep it in a cool place packed in with sawdust. keeps it from melting or months.
@@orgonsolo6291
Funny thing, that's exactly how you get a muddy hole in the ground in australia..
bruhhh
The windings look like they are in a great shape. "Grabes Angle Grinder"

Underrated comment.
I can only imagine your joy if you were gifted a locomotive traction motor.
Bud that's the most generous motor I've ever seen
Idk why but I find your videos satisfying.Love what you do!!💪🏼💪🏼
The melting of ice alone deserves to be in new episode. So satisfying😍
The periodic symbol was a beautiful touch to it all 👌🏼
Love to see that room! Every time. It's worth some money yeah. But that shelf! it looks like a a million bucks! ^^
Hey, the company that made this motor is from Brazil. Weg is from Jaraguá do Sul here in the state of Santa Catarina, a few km away from the city I live. It’s curious to see this motor been melted so far away from here haha, keep up the good work man. Cheers
WEG motors are huge in the UK, quality product
I diligently went through the videos you've posted listing and thought I'd watched them all - yet this morning UA-cam presents me with this.. wonder what else it's hiding from me :) I will watch them ALL!
Aż trudno uwierzyć ile jest materiału którego można odzyskać z takiego silnika. Wielki szacunek za to co robisz 🦾
Beautiful bar mate, lovely polish 😃👍👍👍
Now do the reverse, make a motor from the block of copper instead. :)
Hold my beer
Mmmm beer 🤤🤤🤤

🍻🍻🍻
It would be interesting haha
Yes!!! Another huge motor... I love them, expecially when you can melt the aluminium shell! Lovely!

I don’t know why but this was more satisfying then pouring copper in an metal or graphite Ingot mold, sand is awesome
Beyond amazed right now! Truly incredible
Just shows how the world is so wistful.....
You sir, are truly a master.
HOW NICE OF YOU TO PUT IN NZD!!
normally I just look at AUD as there isn't much difference
A lot less copper than I would expect in a motor of this size and weight, even with a steel casing.
But love what you got out of it 😁
This was an absolute pleasure to watch!
Awesome! Looks like a lot of fun!
I love your video every minute and every second I hope you ha a create life god bless
Simply wow! And stay safe 👍
Always buddy 😁👍🏻
It was nice to see that this electric motor was produced "near" where I live haha
Cheers from SC, Brazil.
Artistic metalcaster here. It blows my mind that between parts labor and energy that this process can actually be profitable. Nice vid, thank you.
it really can't. I mean he said it was worth like 25 bucks. Of course that's assuming he gets full value and such. He might easily have to trade it to a "scrap" metal provider in the end if he wanted to turn it to cash, regardless of it's greater value as a purified ready product.
The people who pay the premium for bar stock copper don't buy it in 4 kg quantities and they aren't going to buy it at the exact cost of selling it.
this is basically worth 15 bucks. thats a lot of freaking work for something you could get working 40 minutes overtime at a "normal" wage job.
I missed watching your vids my friend. It's looking so professional with the stamps. Really nice 👌😉
@@shemimm332 Huhu 🤗
This is fantastic, i really enjoy the video style and showing all the steps.
How did you remove the field without damaging the casing though?
The windings on electric motors are typically bolted in. Removal can be tricky, but fairly easy
This is one of your first videos I watched. I got a kick out of you tearing down the motor and smelting it. Thanks for all the videos! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
A beautiful result with the copper. I was amazed there wasn't more with such a large motor
So, instead of cleaning it up, putting a set of bearings in it and giving it a paint job. And selling it for 10 bucks per horsepower, you made it into a copper bar. Good show
I work in an electric motor repair shop and yes this is sort of accurate. The first step is to see if the winding is good. If it is then you could have easily replaced bearings and switches for a nice profit. Just guessing the hp on that one is around 20. Could easily be sold for $600.00 USD with far less work than making that ingot....... most likely it was trashed because the winding was bad. Its not cost efficient anymore to rewind electric motors..... so, nice work! Please next time though, test the continuity of the winding before you destroy another motor for $20 worth of copper :)
Yeah I hear ya , this motor was destined for the scrap yard for low steel scrap price (it was thrown in the steel scrap bin by some lazy fitter ) but part of the agreement with the boss was to take it home and strip out all the copper and show him the Ingot 🤷🏻♂️. The motor may have possibly been ok but it had become obsolete on this site and honestly the things the bosses throw away at my work is bloody ridiculous 🤦🏻♂️. I’m allowed to go through the scrap bin every now and then but I don’t wana abuse the right or he might stop me.
@@bigstackD Thanks for chiming in, as I was thinking it was easily repairable, and thus worth more than the scrap copper.
No worries Shain👍🏻
Good hobby to have if you enjoy...satisfying results....bit of pocket money....
Man seriously, the burning slab is awesome! Your videos act as stress relief.
Hard work . Amazing
That's nice man, good job 👍

Beautiful work, Great video.
I LOVE Your Gold Silver Copper Room New Man Cave Coming So LoL
You even included INR currency! WOW!! Didn't expect that. 👍
Your vids have inspired me to start collecting copper too. Now I'm thinking about building a home foundry and make cast sculptures out of it.
I saw "Cheers" and thought the video was over and I was super bummed to not see it polished. Glad you were just taking a break. haha Great video!
Brother I've seen junkies crawl the carpet for rocks with less gusto than you've got for getting every little drop of that copper recovered. 😆

so true, it was kinda painful to watch!
I mean that's not his thing. There are restoration channels on youtube if you wanna see that but you knew he would be breaking it up to melt it down why are you complaining
Snoberry you gearbox, no one is complaining. Keep your opinions to yourself where they make sense. We’re all here to watch him melt it. Duh

I see the same thing with old TVs taken for scrap, trinitrons and old PC monitors of particular models can fetch a couple hundred each.
Funny how my two favorite things to watch on UA-cam are scrapping videos and restoration videos.
