- BLTV Highlights the ultimate power punching showdown between 'The Filipino Flash' Nonito Doniare & undefeated KO artist Guillermo Rigondeaux. Donaire was the favorite heading into it, but Rigo brought a scary, never before seen skillset to the ring.

I look at Rigo's career and think about the long rich history of boxing and think of the skill and knowledge passed down for almost 200 years and think, "My god. There were fighters like Guerillimo Rigondeaux and Sam Langford who were so skilled and dangerous that they are largely known for being TOO good for their own good. They were SO good they actually hurt their careers." It hurts to be alive to see a fighter of Rigo's caliber be relegated to fighting nobodies because the top guys avoided him like the plague.
Couldn’t have said it better
Idk. He had his donaire shot and did a good showing and then didn’t really do nothing after. Could’ve called out big names or put on GOOD fights. His fights was one of the most boring undercards I had ever seen. And no. Not cause “he’s too good at boxing” because he was not putting on a good performance. Then cornered lomachenko to again put on a lack luster performance. He ruined his own career by not fighting when it was absolutely necessary.
@@ltamtc1520 Dude you don't know what you're talking about. The man got stripped of his belts because NO ONE wanted to fight him at 122. Getting a fight after he dismantled Donaire was almost impossible.
@@DepressionShaman the fights he did get were BORING. He barely threw punches in one of em.
@@DepressionShaman like I said. Loma said yes. And did he even throw punches? Cmon dude. Stop the what if blabber. He had a shot to solidify he was a Top 5 pound for pound fighter and he GAVE UP.
First time a video with the title "undefeated showboater" winds up winning in the end as far as i remember. Rigo's defense was elite.
My man! Please do full length on Rigondeaux! He’s been one of my favourites since I first watched him. The rich Cuban history of the sport that backs him would make such a great piece as well! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
imagine Rigo vs Mayweather hahaha legendary snoozefest
Imagine rigo vs inoue man that would be amazing
Easily fight of the year
Prime nonito would be a much better fight.
Prime Rigo vs Inoue, Rigo will dog walk Inoue.
@@RZRBLAZno pwer rigo 😂😂 no chance against monster😂😢
@@LoH1-tg9dw I know damn well you didn't just say Rigo has no power...
RIgondeaux had such beautiful movement. Like Toney as the video mentioned. if only he was a little offensive. Thanks BLTV for the good work!
EDIT : I can see Rigo v Inoue comments .... would have been a great bout. Inoue would miss a lot, but still win. He has a bad habit of winning.😅
Thats why i like Sweet pea so much. You got the defensive wizardry, but he was always engaging
Thanks for this video recognizing Rigondeaux, I remember his Olympic medals as back yhen I was still living in Cuba and he was one of our bests
Boxing Legends TV never failed us
his left hook on victor darchinian sent his soul to the stratosphere man. that was one eof the best left hooks ever.
Amazing work and equally amazing subject matter. I never understood the bad rap that RIgo got in the sport. I always respected and admired his all around skill, especially his amazing, sixth-sense defensive skill. This recognition of him is very much deserved. He is TRULY ELITE one of the defensive GOATS.
The Cuban defensive style is great
Just wanted to say this video was brilliant, this is honestly top tier content for boxing enthusiasts
One of my favorite fights to watch back!
Was so hyped for him and loma. I knew that going in it might not deliver but I was so hoping to see to grand masters play chess.
This fight ruined Rigondeaux’s career. Dayum shame
he got inoue so good but inoue had a heart of a champion.
Loving the Warframe music in the background, and I love the video too keep it up!!!
I'll always remember the Harold Letterman quote during the commentary "Nine round to nothing - Guillermo Rigondeaux. Jim, this guy is terribly prepared, just terribly", right before the knockdown.
It's crazy how he moves his torso around so fast like it was a toy.
Awesome
Rigondow devastating one punch ko power, then proceeds to show vid of him needing 8 punches to finish a guy. 😂
That damn Loma fight.
Of course look at lomipenko. He's twice bigger than rigo. So it doesn't count
@@LoH1-tg9dw cope
@@LoH1-tg9dw All Rigo fans were saying he'd sleep loma before the fight btw
I hated Rigo. Nonito was my favorite fighter and it hurt to see Rigo beat him.
Here’s to more Cuban greats in the pro game
Ik this is about Rigo but I’m glad Donaire got his praise, often don’t see documentaries of Donaire
"But the way he was so blatantly avoided during his prime pains me to the point of endearment."
I love this analysis. I just wish that analysis paid the bills.
Casuals make purses, and casuals don't appreciate that amazing defense.
At the end of the day, pro boxing is entertainment after all.
So many fighters ducked Rigo. Leo Santa Cruz, Carl Frampton, Scott Quigg, Abner Mares. Rigo was so good that he had to move up 2 weight classes to get a fight. I’m interested to see how he does in Bare Knuckle fighting tho
To say Rigondeaux was showboating is a bit unfair. He was just that good.
This is one of the best wins that anyone's had in the last decade, right up there with Crawford beating Spence or Fury beating Wlad. Apparently Rigo is going into bkb now to make some cash... I fear for the lives of anyone who comes up against him there, for real.
Rigo was infamous and I was excited to see him fight Loma.
We were so close to having an all Philipino matchup with him and Casimero.
What if prime rigondeaux meet prime Inoue??🤔🤔🤨🤯
That would be absolutely insane!
Rigondeaux prime or not prime loses to inoue because no power 😂😂😂
Rigondeaux is the Bach of Boxing. Rigo's boxing was basically implicit math. His movements looked calculated, no punch or step wasted. People were/are clueless to realize how gifted and good he actually was. Maybe in 50 years people will. Also think we never even seen saw prime Rigo in the pros because he only joined the pros in his late 20s (prob early 30s due to Cubans lying about their ages) and after god knows how much mental and physical punishment from the Cuban government. No one in the history of boxing beats prime Rigo in his weight class, especially not Inoue.
Casimero made him eat his words.
he should of Neva went up to fight loma
Rigo did it to himself , He could’ve fought Loma way earlier but he waited out until Loma moved up in weight to fight him
Wow.
Wow I had no clue Rigo was that good.. I only saw him quit vs Loma.. didnt know he went up two weights or anything. No wonder he lost
Hahaha! Rigo could win the marathon just by running inside the ring! He got beat by Quadro Alas because he just didn't fight and kept running!
Rigo's vs Inoue who's gonna win?
Who's your bet??
Yea an older Rigondeaux going up two weight classes to take on a prime Lomachenko was too much to ask of him
Loma took rigondeux out with ease
4:25 "...this one was guaranteed to be *at least* an even contest." What does that even _mean...?!_
He literally broke Inoue's face.
High risk low reward boxer
Rigo was dipping below his own and opponents waste which is illegal. Floyd did that too. Never understood why they never had points deducted for it.
Battlefield 1 background music😂
At least there's a Cuban fighter that actually had the guts to fight equals in the Pro scene, unlike Stevenson who fought & beat up boys in the Olympics, but didn't have the nerve to fight men in the Pros.
Lomachenko made Rigo look like an amateur
Loma didn't want prime Rigo lol, Anatoly himself said that 😂
@@raine- sure
It's crazy to think how amazing he was until loma made him look like an average dude.
Had giant lumpia for him....lol
2WD vs Loma was too much, but a good payday. Loma actually used Rigo to make some name and cherry pick fights and then we all know what happened. The matrix has ended miserably versus miserable opponent, who also proved his joker ability.
That first guy was tweaking
To those who see through it know why that happened.
Rigo was amazing before he became a half interested parody of himself.
Dude should've been a HUGE pay-per-view star, what happened?
He was avoided
Dar no chin ian ko was nasty.
Then rigo bumped into lomachencko and quit coss he was absolutely cained ....
He went up two weight classes to fight Lomo when Lomo was in his prime….that’s a little more than “bumping into Lomachenko” and it’s far from something that Lomo can brag about.🙄 You must’ve wrote this nonsense before the end of the video thinking that they weren’t gonna mention the Lomo fight.😂
Wow he beat a 39 yr old fighter. Hooray to that. 😂
@@icecreamcake5381
Teach him to be cheeky eh?😆
Sooner or later you will be humbled ...
Live by the sword and die by the sword ...🤔
i know you are fan of rigo, because you did not show the loma fight.
It was pointless….he went up two weight classes to fight a primed Lomo cause everyone else was avoiding him. They could’ve showed the whole fight with Lomo and it would’ve STILL been a compliment to Rigo. Showing those highlights based on those circumstances wouldn’t have looked the way you think it would’ve looked in this type of video anyway.🤷♂️
ITS DO NAY RE NOT DO NARE(Donaire)
Got whooped by inoue
Problem with Rigo was he’s a hard to sell fighter. For purists, he’s god sent but not for business and entertainment. This issue is plaguing Cuban pro fighters.
He's the perfect olympian.
Now show the video when Rigo quit after Loma broke him. LOL
He went up two weight classes to fight him in Lomo’s prime cause everyone else was avoiding him. Why do yall keep thinking this is something to brag about? It’s a compliment to Rigo no matter how you slice it.🤷♂️
@@jwdathefax377 [ It’s a compliment to Rigo no matter how you slice it. ]
Oh yeah? And how is that working for his career? LOL
Also, he didn't quit because he suffered too much damage - people would understand that. He quit because he got frustrated. What a diva.
@@dancheng3014 People avoiding fighting you your whole career because you’re a difficult fighter to fight is STILL a compliment even if that ends up being the reason your career falters. There’s no way to make “I’m a fighter and everyone is afraid to fight me” an insult, so yeah….NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT. Now get out of your feelings. Didn’t you just watch a whole video about him or is he watching a video about you? Cause I’m not getting the “career” insult that you just tried.😂
@@jwdathefax377 [ “I’m a fighter and everyone is afraid to fight me” ]
LOL This shows how little you know about boxing. No professional boxer is actually 'afraid' to fight another professional boxer. It's their job.
The numbers do matter - the viewership, the live gate, etc. These numbers dictate how much money you can demand for your next fight.
The reason why he was avoided is because he's a stinker - his fights DO NOT SELL. Any manager worth the money would advise his fighter to avoid fights that will cause their numbers to take a huge dip.
Boxers will look for the money fight, not the stinker fight. That's how boxing works.
Being avoided does not land you to the hall of fame.
[ Cause I’m not getting the “career” insult that you just tried ]
It's not an insult. He's a good boxer. He just can't sell - and that's okay - not his fault. It's just the game. I'm not trying to insult your idol when I say he can't sell.
I have no issue with Rigo being a difficult boxer to figure out. Good for him.
I have an issue with him quitting - quitting because he got frustrated. That's a shame.
And that's what I'm talking about when I said "how's that working out for his career" - it's not about him being hard to figure out as a boxer - it's about him QUITTING. Like a diva.

Even if Donaire wasn't blinded with one eye, he would've still gonna lose against Rigondeaux by unanimous decision
When Rigo quits against Loma that was a biggest downfall I used to praise him coz I saw him braking ppl jaw until he quits
Loma got that one back. Whooped his ass.
He brought him up 2 weight classes when he was 40 lol
Coward was too afraid fight him at featherweight and aged him out 💀
That outro🤌
Look rigo vs casimero.. rigo is like amature
Amazing fighter ... perfect technique...speed snd power .... sux ...after a KO most ppl just can't come back ... not everyone can b Manny Pacquiao lol ..... #GayweatherIsAPUZZY
Donaire left hook was one of the absolute best punches p4p in the history of boxing.
Cuban fighters ar sooo fkin boring ... I'm Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 so we love fighters ... there's a difference between a fighter and a boxer ... Trinidad and Cotto just happened to b both ... just Mike Mexican boxers most of them r fighters ... not boxers .. Manny is a fighter ... Rig is a boxer ...just start a really boring one ...
