The principles of the GDPR embody the spirit of the regulation and so it's important that you're familiar with them. Following them is essential and failing to do so can result in some of the harshest fines allowed under the regulation. Firstly organizations who are the main data decision-makers who choose what data to collect, what it's used for, how long to keep it and how it should be processed are Data Controllers. These organisations have the largest responsibility under the GDPR, as they not only need to comply with the regulation, they must also prove their compliance by keeping detailed records of the processing they carry out.
The right to object.
This allows people to object to you using all or just some of their data in one or multiple ways. It only applies in certain circumstances unless you process their data in order to provide direct marketing services, in which case the right is absolute and you must stop when you're asked to.
