This is one of the most important people we need to rediscover in the church today. I’ve been studying Kuyper for almost 10 years now and he’s one person who I admire and try to imitate in politics, art and education.
Edifying discussion. I'll wager that not too many outside the Dutch Reformed tradition have heard of Kuyper; I did so only as a habitual browser. Btw I did enjoy the experience, both times that I attended Dutch Reformed services. But I'm a little wary of ecclesiastical partisanism, therefore the reference to 1st Corinthians 1:12 was much appreciated.
Jaden Marker When did you write this? Just curious. Wilberforce realized that black lives matter, but people of today could learn much from him. He was a very persistent man.
I like that Kuyperian impulse which says Christianity transforms society, which it has done historically wherever it is lived and proclaimed. Unfortunately, the Netherlands is in a rather poor state now, spiritually, politically, demographically, and every square inch otherwise. There is transformation, but also regression of once Christian lands.
John Donne I get it in every respect except for the 'demographic' aspect of change. I hope you're not insinuating that ethnic diversity is necessarily a bad thing. What an opportunity it would be for evangelism, if people in Western countries like Holland (or my own, Canada) were SPIRITUALLY equipped to greet new immigrants with the Gospel. Alas, this is seldom the case. Here in Canada, non-white immigrants of Christian faith have done a lot to prop up the Church.
@@jesusislordsavior6343 Fair point, but you'll have to recognize that the vast majority of immigrants coming in are of a different faith that would gladly persecute christianity, as shown by the policies in their home countries. When they're here anyways, sure they're an oppurtunity for evangelism, but that doesn't mean that the influx of a religious group absolutely hostile to christianity is a good thing.
Are their Scripture references for healthcare falling under the sphere of Family government that someone could help me with or is “tend and keep the garden” the primary reference for that? Thanks
Was the 30 years war, the 80 years war, the 100 years war, and the German Peasant war all inspired by Kuyperian theology? If Duggie is describing it accurately, it sure sounds it was that inspiration.

Michael R. Burgos Jr. have you ever read anything from kuyper?
No, but Lord willing, I intend to.
You: Are you Kuyperian?
Me: Heck, I'm downright Dooyeweerdian!

I might have missed it here but what is defined as the 'increase' at the end of the video? Asking just for clarification.
The “Increase” is the harvest. It is the fruit of the labor. Basically, the outcome and results of faithful sowing.

Kuyper wasn't even a twinkle in his father's eye (he lived from 1837-1920)
@@jahnvantuttlesma8215 Fair point. Let's say "proto-Kyperian". 🙂
Toby needs to go carnivore so he looks this handsome again :-)
