Actually, Kelly never saw Zack in that middle eastern outfit. Anyway, Let’s have a moment of silence for Becky the Duck and all the other animals lost during the oil spill.
Saved By The Bell wasn't high brow theater but Mark Paul Gosselaar is a great actor. He played a serial killer in CSI and did an amazing job of creeping me out. I think he was far better at acting than anyone else on Saved By the Bell. This episode shows that.
🕵Saved By The Bell the original series never really did an official 🎃Halloween episode? The closest thing to that was the Mystery Weekend episode from season 3 episode 25. Which reminds me of the 1985 movie Clue. Various tv shows did these type of episodes such as Married With Children, Step By Step, The Jeffersons, Facts Of Life and Family Matters. 🏫🔔📚🔍
@@BM-wh5qk Well kinda. That was when Tiffani Amber Theisson and Elizabeth Berkley were going through a contract dispute plus NBC🦚had ordered more episodes around that time as well. The classic Dukes of Hazzard Coy and Vance the Dukes cousins bate and switch LOL! Until a settlement was reached and the girls and boys returned! 🤠💵💰📜
@9:00 that was one of my favorite moments in the entire series because it's rare if the character defined by their 'protestor' or 'fight the power' mentality gets hit by a legitimate clapback rather than a snarky dismissive insult to their cause.
Right? It's rare to see reasoned counterpoints substituted for cheap-laugh quips. On a completely unrelated note: I checked out your channel. While Tyler Perry is fantastically outside of my wheelhouse, I did just watch the maybe-Tyler-Perry episode of "Atlanta" yesterday. Just a little bit of serendipity for this Friday afternoon.
I'm genuinely surprised the oil rich fantasy wasn't a 'Dallas' parody. Not only was 'Dallas' still in very current memory at the time (it ended in 1991 the same year this episode ended) iconic pop culture schemer Zack Morris as iconic pop culture schemer JR Ewing seems such an obvious angle.
hot DAMN! My favorite episode. Thanks for reviewing it, even though it makes no sense. If anybody actually found oil under a school they would just build a new school and close the old one, then start drilling. Its obviously not safe.
It’s about time! I can’t wait to get home an watch this… I’ve caught up and it sucks waiting on the next episode 😂… how long are u going to keep this going? Do you plan on doing new class? I want to hear your take on new screech and hear a deep dive on the character switches… I’ll pay to speed up the process.
Oh, this train is going to keep on rolling. I'm still unsure about the New Class, though I could do some select episodes to do a comparison between the two series.
Another great episode!! Zach showed his dramatic acting chops in this one (not great, but commendable..lol). Lisa's outfit in that daydream was reminiscent of something Josephine Baker would wear. If so, nice touch!!
Thanks! This one was a lot of fun, as I had to figure out how to balance the more serious story with things that were downright silly. This is a classic episode for a reason.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives Thanks for the fun ATHF reference. Also, thank you for introducing many of us to Letterkenny. I learned about that show through your drops.
Your High Five investigation is the ne plus ultra of this subject. Maybe there is a Nerdstrom or Tuttle "film" (a la Zapruder) that will help solve the mystery of the missed slap. By the way, Knightriders is a great Romero film!
Instead of the Malibu Sands weirdness, after this episode SBTB should’ve just become a dry procedural drama with the school board and city council adjudicating the dispensation of the oil funds. Hey it makes as much sense as Zack, who has shown wanton disregard for human life, caring about MAYBE hitting a goose with a ball. Edit: Not half an episode later Zack admits to spying on teenage girls in the locker room. But goose + ball = tragedy
@@savedbythebelldeepdivesI think they accidentally stumbled onto accuracy. They make him a teenager. Teens care about weird things and their mood can change by the day.
10:52 It always felt a little out of character for Kelly (the ultimate sweet heart who struggles to say anything even remotely negative about anyone) to say "Uh, I'm gonna be sick".
16:40 does this really matter? Yes, yes it does. Also, that has to be the least covered with oil a person has ever been and still exclaim that they were covered with oil.
Idk I think Maxwell Nerdstrom is still the ultimate sleezeball nerd. Way creepier than the horny Franklin. That 40 year old 5 ft Danny Devito clone roaming the halls still makes my skin crawl 😂
Franklin swallowed the key… so he, Jessie, and Kelly must have actually been suspended, right? The fact that Kelly and Jessie, of all people at Bayside, would be suspended could have made for a creative and interesting B-plot.
@@savedbythebelldeepdives ahhh ok nah i meant the weird propaganda they chose like they had the anti drug episode with the dude smoking pot, the caffeine pills episode, screech wins the beauty queeen episode...the hottest chic (kelly) being poor and coming from a semi tough family....the green agenda jessie...then this episode with the oil/oil spill.
I know the kids wanted to tackle weightier matters after the first season. The writers wanted to oblige and sometimes the attempts look a bit silly since they had to water things down for the Saturday morning crowd. Because, honestly: caffeine pills? Yup, can't be showcasing meth!
I know it's a whacky fun show for kids, but this is something that really bothers me. People that live those wealthy styles dont have a lot of money, they have assets tied into investments and live that lifestyle because they have a steady influx of money to spend instead of one lump sum.
When was this episode produced? They looked noticeably older. I recall in your other videos you gave us the timelines, but as always you make great videos! Love the aqua teen clip!
This was produced for the 11th grade year, so nothing crazy continuity-wise. Maturity hits fast and some of the teens (especially Zack) are definitely changing throughout the course of the season.

Honestly, I think he does really good dramatic work.
I agree completely, he's one of those actors I liked instantly when I saw Good Morning Miss Bliss and never stopped.
The Nostalgia Critic episode where he reviews this episode is very funny. The tribute he makes to Becky the Duck is especially hilarious.
That video popped up on my feed the other day and I almost watched it. Sounds like I should hunt it down.
I feel sorry for people who watch that obnoxious narcissist and think he's funny.
These are too good, so worth the nostalgia.

@@savedbythebelldeepdivesI think they accidentally stumbled onto accuracy. They make him a teenager. Teens care about weird things and their mood can change by the day.
Agreed. Sometimes they get teenagers done right, like with Zack's immature date in front of Kelly using their old song.

True. Maybe there was a little stretch to make the connection.
12:29: Screech the Savage
Excellent call-out. I didn't have much to say about the moment, but I wanted to showcase it.
Is the wicked stepbrother going to be 1 mega video or split into 2?
It's going to be two. There is so much in both episodes that I don't want to make you commit to almost an hour of content in one sitting.
