It's very interesting, but the term "soundpainting" is totally misleading. What does any of this have to do with "painting"? Why not some other term that actually describes the phenomenology of live, improvised composition by means of a gestural language to communicate instructions for a group of players with the end goal of producing a work of art? It seems to me this is still very much the realm of "music" and "performance," and has nothing whatever to do with the visual world or the practice of painting.
It's really just performance art with an emphasis on musical structures. Otherwise, it's really cool.
It’s painting with sound instead of pigment. I don’t think there’s much more to it than that. The word came from “action painting,” but I don’t know specifically how it was translated.
Who listens to this stuff? Seems like a lot of work for nothing. Just saying.
Teresa Hobson people who appreciate all forms of art . I think its beautiful
Go listen to taylor swift then
You've made the mistake of confining what you've heard too what you've seen. The point of learning this art (soundpainting) is so you can express in a live improvised way with more clarity, it is designed to allow you to take it places, create your own gestures, the idea of composing with the body is beautiful, and I am sure given the practice and time you could quite easily have a composer direct a pop song with it, in a live-improvised environment....
