Sorry to miss Lisa in this episode. the long-short here: Hermes IS The LOGOS He is lord of the crossroads, the same as Thoth, Mercury he is the function of mediation between the conscious mind (Earth) the unconscious (Underworld) and the superconscious mind, the transpersonal archetypal matrix of the gods. He is also represented in the personal microcosm as The Genius (Jinn), The Daemon, the Spirit Guide of the people of Turtle Island. He is also represented by the trickster at the crossroads, Papa Legba of the Vodun/VooDoo living traditions.
I love this conversation! External validation of internal understanding. There is an aspect of my inner world that identifies with Hermes, with a "networking" gene. Which has gotten me into interpersonal difficulty more often than not! . . . Deb's comment about "I need to have more fun" reflects my father's dying wish for me! I'll be listening to this again! One wonders what Lisa might have said. Perhaps a future conversation that includes her?
Loved this, as a considerably mercurial individual myself. I am also brought to thinking about Mercury in astrology, and the signs that it rules not just traditionally but too in esoteric astrology that came through the theosophical works… Mercury typically rules Gemini and Virgo, and very strongly seen in the Gemini energy which is known for being quick, multi-skilled, adaptable and sometimes the trickster and superficial (not going deep enough). But Mercury rules Aries at the esoteric level, where Aries evolves from mars instinct to quick and higher mind (Aries rules the head, after all), and so we see the connection to speed there in Aries… And at the highest level of manifestation, Mercury actually rules scorpio - the sign considered to rule psychology itself! Which ties very nicely into what you both described in the analytic practice, as mercury pertains to the travelling to the underworld… Mercury is a 4th ray sign in the metaphysical frame work of Rayology, too. 4th of the 7 rays, the intermediary, the ray of the human kingdom (said to mediate between the heavens and earth). We see Scorpio again as a fourth ray sign… late astrologer Michael Robbins posited that Jung himself may likely have been a 4th ray personality type. It is said to be quite a psychic ray, and a ray that brings great wisdom and flexibility. I am enjoying pondering more deeply the nature of Mercury psychologically and how it is affirmed and expressed in these metaphysical interpretations. I should too mention that the 4th ray is called the ray of “harmony through conflict” (as it pertains to the opposites), but it is also the ray of Art and Beauty. I think that, to whatever degree we might consider depth psychology a 4th ray practice, it is really about the art of human living… Many thanks.

Movie films “Oceans 11-13” very much embody the Mercurial archetypes.
Thank you for this broadcast! It has helped me so much!! Especially, the cast of characters!!!
It's a function, the message, the messenger, the space where the message travels, so the sandman, Morpheus is a function of Hermes.
I was born on wed., which is of Mercury so I was all ears! Thanks so much!

The laughing has to do with Humor as the Vitreous humor that is in the eye and delivers the light without a shadow.
So in the humor of life, one loosen the necessity to fix a persona although that's part of the message! Genius. Thank you
I really enjoyed this! Thank you!
