If you like the hoodie and hat I'm wearing in the vid check out my merch at caffgear.co or if you want to look at the rods or reels check out caffgear.co/saltfly. Let me know in the comments what you think of the hoodie.
Hi Johan, good camerawork, lovely day on the water with an excellent boat and good seamanship and I especially liked your safety procedures. The area looks very familiar and has produced some lovely memories. That fishing the flats from the boat was outstanding and produced a lovely snapper for the table. The description at the end was appreciated by a lot of new anglers as it gives them an idea of the kit and rigging required. Yep, one of your best Johan, keep it up. Cheers mate. Harera
Thanks very much Piere. A lovely piece of coastline largely unexplored for me and it has already produced so well. Look forward to what I will find in future. Safety is key for me. I have kids that come out with me too. Always need to be prepared on the water. I'll keep pushing for better quality and presentation with each video as best I can. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.
That's so funny, my wife said it sounded like an Alfred Hitchcock movie 🤣🤣. Tell you what I was worried with only 10lb tipped on there. There are a lot of sharp rocks and kelp in there. Glad you enjoyed it. Hope to bring more soon.
I will contemplate it. Certainly not my favorite place. There are some trout in there but I'm not sure it's worth the effort. It is tough times so I will consider it 😊
@@CrazyAboutFlyFishing yeah man! I know my shallow water zones like the bak of my hand. Hav had a lot of fun with a sedona 1000 6lb braid and 3" soft plastics :) i have no doubt flies will slay!
You should head out and film some kingfish fishing around there bro, get a few live baits and troll them around that island. I’ve fished that spot before and did okay on them.
They are awesome little boats. Love mine. There will be more saltwater vids coming even after they let us out. Have my eyes set on few firsts. While we are locked in here though it will be all saltfly for a while. I will try to keep it interesting with different things.
Thanks mate. Pretty much the same rod but not maxcatch branded. It's from www.iloveflyfishing.kiwi in Auckland. There are more links in the the description to the specific setups I use.

Love the water wherever it may be, river or sea, your videos captivate me! You are rocking it, you look so comfortable out there!! Music 10/10!
Thanks very much doing my best to make these as good as possible
So good
Thanks mate, appreciate the comment. I've been enjoying your SI monster trout. Those things are the size of kingfish.
Some exciting action well captured - looked like some nice sized parore under the kahawai around the 5:00 minute point.
Thanks. I only saw those parore once I looked at the video. Will have to try and fish for them next time I fish there.
Great to see you back on the water Johan, some really nice fish there, those kahawai were beauts! 🤙
Thanks Wayne, it's been great to be able to get out.
What an awesome video Johan! I swear with that 47cm snapper you were going to lose it given the background music! So so cool!

What a joy Johan, thanks for all your efforts. Great stuff 👏 👍 👌!!!
My pleasure! Very glad you enjoyed it
Thanks Johan for posting. I enjoyed the video quite a bit. I've never fished for salt water fish before, but you made it look like fun.
Glad you enjoyed it, saltwater is certainly different but a lot of fun. The fish are so strong for their size.
That was epic bro!
Thanks man, it was such a good day out
Nice vid bro🤙 since it's level 3 in Auckland could you head down to wairoa river? Keen for some freshwater action!

Great vid. Have an old flyrod in the cupboard. Goin to hit the shallows around kawau this summer!
Absolutely. That island has some great shoreline for snaps and there must be some big kelpies in there. Enjoy and hope you get heaps.

Yeah I'm heading there tomorrow with my son. Want to get onto some kings. Will try to catch some livies. Either kahawai or if that fails mackerel.
please tell us about your boat ,Johan, Thanks
2016 Smartwave 3500 center console with a 30HP tohatsu 2stroke from Silverdale marine. Love it. Fits in the garage and easy to handle on my own.

Is the rod you're using a maxcatch predator rod? Some lovely fish mate.
