My husband and I watched the first episode the first night it dropped and were like WTF WOAH and binged the rest of it the next day. It is one of the only seasons my hubs will sit down to binge watch lol

You are going to love this , I was around these kids age and grew up around the same time period as the kids in the show and same geographical area the show nailed the look and feel of what kids were like back then and how the times were
I was exactly these kids' age in 1983 and grew up just a few of hours south of where this was filmed in Georgia. This is the closest thing to a time machine I've experienced.
I was between the younger kids age and the orders kids age back then. I was about a month from turning 15 at the time ep 1 takes place
The Duffer Brothers were amazing at getting the feel and vibe of that time period.
I was born in 1996 but even i am nostalgic for small town america in the eighties watching this 😄

That's actually the word I would use to describe how this show did so well. "Natural". Every actor, especially the kids, make this show outrageously natural and authentic feeling.

This first season is much more legit horror than the rest, I found it actually quite scary! Granted I was on a solo vacation when this dropped and watched it in one night while staying alone in this old Victorian mansion haha
Season 4 is definitely the most horror ish of the seasons

I agree season 1 is more scary than 2 and 3 but I have to say season 4 is much more scary than the rest

So glad you're doing this series. This is absolutely my group of friends from my childhood. Group of nerds and outcasts who played D&D and got into silly trouble. Thankfully not the same kind these guys get into. I was born in 1970, so this timeframe is perfect nostalgia.

By the time you get to Episode 4, you will know this series is for you…and you’ll love most of the characters, especially Hopper.

Now comes the very painful wait to see this reaction series all the way through until season 5 comes out 😮💨 well done Hannah on starting this one. I just have to say that this is some of the best TV available to watch on any streaming service, this show is levels above most for storytelling and payoff! Have fun with the show!

I definitely wouldn't say it's a dark comedy but I agree with the rest. This show has effectively defined pop culture for the last 5-6 years. It replaced Game Of Thrones on that pedestal. Everyone's hair, clothes, music is directly influenced by this show , and we're still feeling those effects right now.

It's a fantastic show, so cozy and exciting, a lot of people love it, but I still consider it underrated.

I think it's heartbreaking that Jonathan blames himself for Will's disappearance. The stereotypical 80s movie would have had the teen brother out partying when he was supposed to be home looking after the little brother who gets into trouble... but Jonathan was WORKING, and it's super clear that the family needs the money. He wasn't really being irresponsible, and that just makes it even more devastating.
You should do a reaction of the series 'Twin Peaks' that would be epic. Stuff like Stranger Things is heavily inspired by it

hopper was right about the questions though, he was trying to establish a motive and this is the early 80s during the aids crisis when a lot more people were homophobic out of fear out of ignorance and misinformation, so there was a lot more lgbt+ or at least gay hate crimes…

Glad you were open minded about watching a show with Kid actors who as you saw just absolutely nailed it in this first episode and going forward this first season. They come off as REAL Kids. Millie Bobby Brown was absolutely phenomenal in this first season. So was Finn Wolfhard. I honestly think this might be the best editing for a reaction to Stranger Things that I've seen and I have watched a lot of reactions to this show cause it's one of if not my favorite show. "They've got a nice bond, I hope he looks after her" As soon as you said that I went awwww nooooo LOL

So excited for you Hannah, this is such a great show. I had the exact same reaction as you when the episode ended, I was watching it with a friend on some "Let's just see what this is about" and immediately when the episode finished we looked at each other and went "Well shit we might as well just see what happens next". Next thing either of us knew we were on episode 5 and it was 2:00 in the morning lmao.

This is such an amazing series probably one of my favorites and I love the 80's nostalgia, I was 13 in 1983 so I can so relate to everything! And I love how your so trying to fugure out what's going on, that was all of us when we started the series, just go with the confusion as it will all come together.
