Agree with that. I hate when they lie or hide stuff.
But i do get if they show their stuff like "see, this is what i do, this is my level, this is my quality and look, someone paid for this and it cost him this much"..
That tells me something about his work having demand. (Also most of the time his best work is already sold.. so why would he show you the trash/2ndary material when he can play you his prime.. he wants to advertise himself and his work the best he can... he shouldn't play anything but top material shouldn't he).
I hate if they just show me the beat and don't tell it's already sold since that is sneaky, that is lying, that is off the limits. He shows me stuff, i'm like "yeah, i like it, how much is this?" and he is like "it's already sold but i look at these, these ones are available" (and then he shows me his grab.. which doesn't impress me... i'd get if he was more like "they are sold but i could make similar, gimme a few hours/day".. then it would be fine).
So basically: They can play beats they already sold but they have to give us disclaimer or warning about it. They have to be honest about it.

I do my beats too (except for mixtapes which are more of a sideproject and for fun.. they are my sketchbook ) but i really would like to have at least one album made with someone else like that - sitting with them and asking stuff customly for beat.. but i know that i am demanding (i'm the type that asks to change rhythm for 2bars of lenght to fit the lyrics and then go back to original tempo.. or add random instruments/effects so they fit the mood or contrast or something) and that either makes my project becoming either very expensive (lots of hours in studio) or not happen at all (finding someone with good chemistry is hard.. even when as a person i'm very laid off and easy to hang around with.. but since i demand so much i can get why not many are willing to jump in.. especially when i just share my albums for free on internet so they can't get royalties and for something like 10+ tracks he customly made the package prizing might not match actual hours put into it)
