The Bridge At San Jorge

- "Johnny & Johnny" ambush a military column commanded by Colonel Günther Ruiz, at the bridge at San Jorge.
This is taken from the film "A Fistful of Dynamite" by Sergio Leone and has been edited so the scenes I wanted, would fit on UA-cam.
In the film, the James Coburn character refers to "... the bridge at San Hoglay", but I'm not sure of the spelling, so please let me know if you know how it should be. - Розваги
As a kid I rode my bike 10 miles to the theater to see this movie. I loved it and stayed in the theater at the end so I could watch it again back to back.
One of cinema's magical moments...and that music. Wow.
Morricone's music starting to play as he prepares to blow up the bridge... and then the pinnacle as it explodes and goes up in smoke... pure masterpiece
And this is why horses are no longer used in war.
One of the greatest movies ever!
A good film, elevated to a great film by Ennio Morricone's soundtrack.
Ennio Morricone. A genius.
Best explosion I've ever seen in a film.
And...
To this day CGI still can't do explosions properly smh.
skatemetrix impeccably done
Funny how you have two generations of German machine guns in this scene with the WW1 MG08 maxim and the WW2 MG42. :)
"Maybe it's out of spite for you, and your slow dream..."
Great music. Best explosion scene ever.
No computer....ALL Reality!!!👍🔝🔝🔝💖🙏
Thar she blows!
Now, that's a fucking explosion! Goddamn!
kudjo24
Yeah. Check out the one in Zabriskie Point, if you haven't.
MG-42 is probably a stand-in for Hotchkiss guns (I know it looks vaguely similar), which were used in the Mexican revolution. Anyway, who gives a damn - it doesn't spoil the narrative (anyway an Irish revolutionary fighting in Mexico is odd enough :) )
The Irish mercs did fight though. The first aerial bombs dropped on the U.S. were dropped by a Irish pilot flying for rebel forces. He mistook a car on the American side for his target and bombed it, resulting in U.S. fighters being sent to the border to secure airspace. No one was killed in the incident.
Awesome scene from an awesome movie!
this whole scene was so fucking intense brilliant lead up too with sean sleeping and juan hella trippin XD
Great scene, MG 42 machine gun probably came from Spanish Army the movie was filmed in Spain.
Love the Shaun’s theme music. Wonder, me, if Sergio Leone had to build that bridge in ordar to blow it up. AFAIC, this was a minar cult classic.
That tune near the end was adopted by CHOM radio station in Montreal as their station jingle.
One of My sergio leone's favorite movie,
We stand before a Revolution .
I love how Ruiz wanted to park to the side to see what'd happen...
it's an enigmatic image, men being slaughtered, accompanied by Morricones haunting music about a little known conflict set in the early 20th century and filmed at the end of the 60s,
LOOKS INCREDABLEY SCARY
@Warriorking1963
Well, I read there were suppoesed to be 2 maxims but there weren't any others available at the time, and, the ending scene where Rod Steiger holds the MG42 wasn't supposed to be in the script, he was supposed to weild 2 pistols instead.
Bravo
@tintinteslacoil Thanks for the info! I've now corrected the title. :-)
@mseaborne what lewis gun? and if you cant see the mg42 you must be blind
Jeez, everyone's so thin!
Sergio Leone "I want a bridge blown up!"
Studio Exec "I can get world class Special Effects guys in from Hollywo....."
Sergio Leone "NO! When I say I want a bridge blown up I mean I want a bridge BLOWN UP! Now get me the god dammed army on the line!"
So. Old mate is in command of an armoured vehicle, twin MG’s and he hides?? 🤣🤣
Mg42 had a higher rate of fire and less bang and more of a brrrrrrrr sound. Water cooled 30 cal sounds about right
That MG 42 is just so mean and deadly
Apart from being some 40 years too early for a Film supposedly set just before the First World war.
@@ricardovelasco3976 Its ok - its not a true story
Reminds me the pirA in n ireland bomb went of the paras run to a near by wall little did they no another bomb was planted at the wall pirA knew this killed 19 paras
@Warriorking1963 I thought that was weird too
Supreme Black Dalek's and MG42s at the same time in 1910s. Oooh the great historical inaccuracies...
I don't see why the armored car didn't fire back
You're forgetting the point of a surprise attack... What was the vehicle gonna shoot at? The hills? Because they weren't even aware of where the firing positions were to begin with.
How did he survive the explosion?
+Batcaveloner13 watch the movie
Already have about 19 times, great overlooked masterpiece!
I’ve alsways wondared why Juan called Shaun ‘Jonah’ just before Shaun lit himsel up.
@PanzermanFuchs44 I have to agree with you. This was a really bad slip and does take something away fro the film.
From what I understand the Maxim although used extensively by the Russians in both World Wars was around long before WWI and would have been used pretty much anywhere with a modern army starting with the Brits then everyone else following along, the real question is who didn't have it? As for the MG42... it definitely was not around or in Mexico for that matter.
Thought the MG42 was designed in 1942!
@@TunaDad It was, I suppose someone thought it might look like a Hodgkiss machine gun, which was around at that time, but that's just a guess. To be honest it's there because it looks cool.
@@schizoidboy Yeah I think it was a placeholder for a Maxim, they could only get one at the time.
What anachronisms? A Lewis gun and a Spandau -both available at that time. The armoured car isn't anachronistic either . Can you clarify, please? I can't see an MG-42 anywhere.
I was watching a video from a site called jmantime where he describes an Austrian armored car and the armored car in this film resembles one of the armored cars used by the Austrians, whether it was possible for the Mexicans to ever get one is a different matter, however, the Mondragon rifle - the first semiauto rifle ever produced and designed by a Mexican officer - was made in Switzerland for a time since the Mexicans didn't have the means to produce them in any large number, WWI prevented the importation of these rifle but they were still used in the Mexican Revolution.
Coburn has the mg42 it has a sawn off stock.
Shaung Shaung...
John, Juan, Shaun and Sean are the same name, the singers pronounce it Shaung that's all.
MG42 in 1910 is it not?
Its ok - the film is made up
The movie is acutally set in 1922. The Hotchkiss was used in WW1 quite extensively although it was already obsolete by the end so could have found it's way to Mexico, and the Spandau (not an M42, that sounds different & has a faster rate of fire) which James Coburn is using, was mainly used by the German airforce in WW1.
right... I'll agree to disagree
@tintinteslacoil Nah.
銃撃する前に爆破してみてはいかがでしょうか?
they should re dub this part with a better song. The scene was fantastic but the Song was awful.
Im sorry but are u stupid? The music is the best part
no.
