LOVED IT! I'm so stoked that you checked out the Pod Go. As a Poor bass player, I really wanted a multi-effects unit that I could mess around with and I was able to get a Pod Go (non-wireless) on a good sale. I'd ABSOLUTELY love to see what else you're able to do with it and any tutorials you can provide to get the most sound/use out of it for the Bass.
I'm using the Pod GO for bass as well. Another option for a clean blend is the "Busy One Jump" amp model. It consists of 2 separate amp channels that you can blend together. I set one channel to clean and fat and the other thin and crunchy and blend to taste. This saves you a pedal if you are using a lot of effects on this patch. I find I can get a decent Geddy Lee type tone this way.
This sounds like a fun thing to try out! Only thing here is keeping 1 signal clean and the other with the effects, BUT being careful with the effects choices means this might work pretty well! I shall try it!
I still love the old Line 6 Bass Pod Pro (granted today's amp/cab sims sound better). But it was packed full of bass amps/cab sims, I wish Line 6 would create another dedicated bass modeler. I have the Helix, Eleven rack etc and they are dedicated mostly for guitars.
I think that given the sales of the gear back then, it wouldn't be good business considering the Helix does it all very, very well for bass. I WOULD like to see some more bass amp models in there, but they have the most popular and well known ones in there already. Truth be told, I personally wouldn't know what other amps to ask for!
I'm currently running a HX Effects as my bass rig, using either the SansAmp or Darkglass preamp models in conjunction with a selection of bass cab IR's. I gives me loads of options for effects blocks and also parallel paths.
I'm yet to dive into the HXFX, but it's next on the list of experimentation. I've not thought of using a Sansamp and the 'amp' block but that sound like a fantastic idea!
Fractal is really missing on the Bass department... Line 6 is miles ahead... Hope they can reach Fractal's leadership on guitar and Fender's new UI + touch screen. That'd make Line 6 the master of them all.
Thanks for this. Does the pedal, even with no effects on, affects the original sound of the instrument ? I notice that many digital bass pedal affects sound...
does anyone know if the "drop tuning" works well with the bass? It is one of my main requirements!!! I want a distortion with a clean mix, compression and being able to have several tunings without touching the bass!!!!
Honestly - not on the Pod Go. It suggest an HX Stomp XL or maybe an HX Effects to do what you need. There'll be some pedal toying during a set to change the pitch shift on the pitch effects, but you can always set up an external footswitch to cycle up or down through the pitch parameter on the fly. Let me know if you need a hand looking at that, but what you're after can't really be achieved with a Pod Go
Great video Darren - TX.. I went to CustomTone to get Bass1 and Bass2 for Pod Go and it is not downloading as a .pgp, its downloading as .16t ... any thoughts On how we can get the .pgp versions? THX
Very good mate! Just subscribed! I want your first sound with the Ampeg SVT. I use a Focusrite with headphones and I’ve got the SansAmp preamp. I also have a Squier PJ Bass. Any suggestion to get that clean sound? PS: I have a standard Rumble 15 Amp and some friends told me to use a mic and connect it to the Focusrite to get a cleaner tone. I also have the Zoom B1 Four effect pedal. Cheers
Hi Carlos. I use cab sims so that may be the defining factor between the Pod Go and Sansamp, unless the Zoom has a similar model type. All my tones are DI so I can't make a solid recommendation on the basis that you're using an amplifier also, but maybe just turn any cab blocks off on the Zoom with an Ampeg type model and you should get in the ballpark :)
Hey! Honestly - it's a time thing. Between a day job, one main band, standing in with many other bands and two kids it's hard to fit anything in 😅 I will try posting more in the new year - just now and again when I have something in my head to get out there.
Nice video! Does the octaver you are using have the option to shift sounds up like royal blood? Or is just shifting the pitch down? I'd like to emulate the pog 2 octaver pedal. Also the fact that It doesn't have midi, does it mean that I can't connect it to a computer to record? What kind of limitations does the fact of not having a midi port bring?
Yep - the simple pitch or legacy bass octave effect will give you a pitch up so creating Royal Blood type tones is possible. It has USB connectivity so you can use it as an interface to record. Also, when I talk about MIDI, I meant the capability to control outboard gear such as my C4 Synth pedal or other MIDI capable devices on a board such as mine. It DOES have MIDI capability if using it via USB to a computer to control certain things, but this is not the MIDI capability I would use, especially given that , again, I'd like to control presets on my C4 via MIDI like I can do with an HX Stomp or Helix Floor/Rack
This thing does everything. That's all you need.
Our legends did not have 10% of the possibilities offered by the Thing and made unforgettable music.
It's never been a better time to play guitar. This Pod Go is quite impressive - but not perfect. That being said - you can not argue with the tones.

I have a few things planned for after Christmas, my friend so stay tuned! Thanks very much!

Thanks for the review. Cheers 🍻
You are most welcome, good sir
I love the Low Battery preset!
Haha yeah the 100% sag is amazing when the wireless goes down 😅
@@DarrenSMusic that's when air guitar comes in handy!
amazing!, works fine with an active bass, with the wireless system??

Much love as always, Al!

It’s not something I tried! I looked at this as a no-amp solution

Is this good for bass effects? I don’t plan on using this for amp sims

That's weird. I uploaded them by importing from the Pog Go to my computer then dropped them into custom tone :/ I shall investigate
same here

Hi a bit of a random question I play bass and looking to use a pod go direct to a turbosound 1000 will it work. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.
Any FRFR, PA speaker or powered cab will work just fine :)
