  • This week I have had an especially rad Jag in for a setup from a customer. It's a Fender American Pro Jaguar, that has been refinished in an awesome firemist gold colour!
    Naturally I couldn't resist doing some kind of video on it to show it off to the world, so I thought I'd take the opportunity to show how I approach setting up these kinds of offsets again!
    Hopefully this video will be informative and perhaps useful if you are going to be setting up your your own jag, or if you are just looking for general setup information.
    Here is a link to a really good article on Jags/Jazzy's in Premier Guitar by offset wizard Michael Adams which have some great diagrams that I couldn't hope to replicate well, that demonstrate how the vibrato should be setup:

    Good job I just picked one of these up. I would have taken the neck off and removed the Fender 'shim' often a tiny piece of sandpaper, and replaced it with a 1 degree full pocket wood shim. Personal preference I would put a Dimarzio Super Distortion S in the bridge. You can buy them without the flange. Thanks again!

    Hey mate, very interesting video. I"ve had a Johnny Marr Jag for a few years now and I love it to bits. One thing about it though is that I can't do more than a semi tone bend on the first string without the sound cutting out. The fret board is that very curved style modelled off Johnny's '65 Jag I believe, and I do love the feel of it. But I heard somewhere that fretboards with a very curved radius are not so good for bending strings on. Is it possible to fix this with the right setup or is that just the way it is on a jag with an old school neck like that? I've learned to live with it and just use the 2nd string for bigger bends, but more and more I've been wondering if there is a solution.

      Depends what you're going for! For traditional sounds I'd go with Duncan antiquitie II's for Jaguar. For hotter Jag tones I generally prefer humbuckers or single coil-sized humbuckers

    what type of tape do you use to cover the neck for fret polishing?

    • @alexrcowan
      @alexrcowan  4 роки тому +1

      Pedro Marques I use painters tape. You can use other tapes as long as they are low tack and don’t react with finishes

      @@nicholaschavira1743 take your time finding a fit. These bridge screws are very easy to strip. Good luck!
