    You're deffinatly sleeping on sleet storm. You can cast it and drop the concentration on it for a quick burst of its effect, followed by a huge puddle of water that will usually wet an entire battlefield. Super good for this build. Trivializes any open field battle you're having trouble with by proning all your enemies and making them wet in one action. (Just stop concentration by clicking the x on its icon in the bottom left of the screen)

      @@WorldWearyAngelSpell sniper only affects cantrips, right? And only spell attacks? Good spells are usually saves, which having your spell casting modifier higher is better for save DC!

      Icy storm also has the same burst effect of sleet storm plus the damage. I think it can also uncover hidden enemies. Using a higher spell slot for damage is worth it imo.

    Another Option for Amulet is Necklace of Elemental Augmentation to boost your Ray of Frost, which stacks with Potent Robe, and your Draconic Subclass Feature ( Elemental Affinity) If you have say 20 Cha, that's +15 dmg added to Ray of Frost . You can get your Charisma even higher in act 3 with Mirror Event and Hat(Birthright) so 24 Cha putting it at +21 dmg. Too bad you cant upcast Ray of Frost but it's still good damage for just an Action.
    Just an example of how much damage you can do with a single Ray of Frost with a Critical Hit.
    A Cantrip Spell 3d8
    Doubled by Crit so 6d8
    +21 from Charisma modifiers
    +1 dmg from Staff(lol)
    Doubled by Venerability.
    6-48 + 21 + 1 x 2 = 56-140 Damage.
    This will help with your single target. And you Can Twin this spell, just keep in mind that Luck of the Far Realm only applies to your first attack. But your 2nd attack can still crit naturally. This is all by just using an Action with zero spell slots. And can be Twinned and Quickened. Granted they need to be Wet. And there's the Un-predictable proc from staff "Insidious Cold" that applies Chilled( Vulnerable to cold damage). And there's a way to cast the spell without using sorcery points but that's "cheating" imo.
    Last thing to mention if you don't have a cleric in your party to cast Create Water, there's a staff called Rain Dancer that gives Create Water Spell but you will have to sacrifice an action to swap weapon's, or have someone in your party throw water bottles or barrels.

    • @timm8998
      @timm8998 10 місяців тому

      If this is the best you can do it is a sign of a weak buiuld though. What would you cast with spell slots. You should have enough of them right.

    • @Chonus
      @Chonus 8 місяців тому

      Quicken spell cast cone of cold they are now chilled from morning frost and take double dmg use twinned spell + plus androit caster gloves to get 3 beams on ray of frost that can hit up to 80+ on each, it’s pretty decent. You can get even more dmg by dual wielding mokaheshkir and attuning to frost. Use free cast to make infinite sorcery points. If you use all the cantrip boosting, ray of frost will do more dmg than the majority of single target spells.

  • @ZeFourmis

    That's funny that you post this build now, as I just started a "white dragon winter sorcerer" playthrough.
    However, I personally get 3 levels of Bard, Lore, for cutting word that hinder their saving throws (useful with all the debuffs tied to your cold spells)... Plus, Lore Bard grant you more skills, which is always useful on the main character and some good utility spells. And, last, but not least, Bard have amazing dialogue options in this game.
    As for the gear...
    - Coldbrim hat and winter's clutches and the Mourning Frost obviously (those 3 items practicly turn any spellcaster into a Frost Witch by themselves).
    - Potent Robe, because the charisma bonus is too good to pass up.
    - Necklace of elemental augmentation... together with potent robes and your bloodline bonus, it grants 3 times your charisma modifier to your ray of frost, which goes from +12 to +18, depending on how much charisma you have.

    This is almost exactly a build i ran for my second playthrough so i have a few optimizations to suggest.
    First and most important, the best weapon to dual wield with along with the elgebdary staff in act 3 is the dagger from cazador. At full stacks it gives a plus 3 to attack rolls, dc AND damage which pairs perfectly here. The extra 3 damage to all spells and 3 whole dc meakes your aoe nuke that much more potent.
    Speaking of potent, potent robe is the best chest for this build imo. By around the time you get it ray of frost damage will easily surpass ice knife and chromatic orb letting you drop them in favor of more utility spells and save your level 2 spell slots purely for sorcery points.
    For boots it may sound odd but late game i think the bonespike boots are the best option. Since you won't wear armor or use a shield by that point they offer a bonus 1 to AC but also a bonus to saving throws, making you less vulnerable to losing concentration on your haste.
    Also i think the +2 charisma hat is best for the head slot, bonus damage scales well for this build, although hood of the weave is also good. Also necklace of elemental augmentation is a solid pick. Losing a bit of dc in favor of stacking with potent robes and level 6 trait to give 3x charisma mod to ray of frost makes it a cheap and deadly single target ability on par with high level spells.

  • @Voicelet
    @Voicelet Рік тому +2

    With single elemental Sorc builds, I suggest using Necklace of Elemental Augmentation up until you can get Amulet of the Devout (only equip the slot restoring amulets when use.) You acquire it almost the same time as when you get the Draconic Bloodline level 6 buff to your element choice, to double the bonus. Your cantrip is now better than level 1&2 spells for single target damage.

    Nice! Since you're not using lvl6 spells and you're mostly using huge AoE spells I'd personally go for a 2nd lvl of Wizard for Evocation's Sculpt Spell ability. That will save your companions from a lot of friendly fire and/or make it far easier to safely aim your AoE.
    Edit: Forgot to add it also gives you an extra Wizard preparation slot, albeit at the cost of the Sorcerer spell known and free flight that lvl11 Dragon Sorcerer gives you. But a prepared slot is much more flexible. Personally I mostly use flight for exploration rather than combat, so I'd just learn it as wizard spell and swap it in when needed, while using a better spell for combat.

    I am not sure why everyone defaults to using a sorcerer. I think for a ice build, evocation wizards suits a lot better.
    - You have access to 2 level 6 ice spells at level 10 which sorcerers do not get
    - You have access to fire shield which can also reflect cold damage when you get hit
    At 2nd level you will get scult spell so your friends don't get hit with the big aoe
    Level 6 your cantrips will be more difficult to avoid and even if you miss they will do half damage. This means even on a miss you cold damage can trigger other effects (from gear)
    Level 10 your intelligence modifer will be added to the damage rolls (the same as the end game chest you are wearing)
    The boots that make you not fall over on ice. I usually give those to a melee character and instead go with `Boots of Stormy Clamour`

    • @insomniac0095
      @insomniac0095 10 місяців тому +1

      Imo metamagic is too useful to go wizard. I only recommend wizards for people who want the flexibility to use a wide range of spells. For builds focused on a specific elemental damage like this one, sorcerer is the class.
      Sculpt spells is overrated when you control the whole party and can move people out of the way or just be careful where you're putting the curser. And I dont worry too much about buffing cantrips by endgame since I'm not using them much.

    • @tree-of-life490
      @tree-of-life490 10 місяців тому

      @@insomniac0095 Metamagic is nice but I would prefer more spells. Also, Generally specializing in something gives you more damage than being a jack of all trade so even as a wizard I think the best thing to do is have a primary specialization. This is just because how gear buffs your damage.
      The extra spell slots you have can instead go to utility focused abilities like knock, feather fall, remove curse, see invisibility. You can still pick up some other damage spells that may be useful.
      Also, sculpt spells is VERY strong. Unless your entire party does their turn at the same time you will always end up with a situation where you could hit more enemies if the circle also contains a friendly character. Sculpt spell is specifically useful when there is a choice between hitting 5 enemies +1 friendly or hitting 3 enemies.
      I normally use it with ice storm since it covers a wide area it can basically hit every enemy. If I did not have sculpt spells then I am pretty sure I would not be able to hit every enemy. Also, I do play as 4 player co-op so perhaps if I played alone I would be able to position people better.
      A side note. I have been using conjurer elemental at level 6 to create an elemental that can do an AOE heal which applies wet status. It also has a lot of health. I usually make it tank for me and start the fight off by giving everyone wet status.
      For the cantrip, yes I don't use them that often but when I need a guaranteed damage then I can use a cantrip to debuff and grantee a hit on the enemy. Also, remember being a level 10 wizard will also buff their damage as well

    • @insomniac0095
      @insomniac0095 10 місяців тому

      @@tree-of-life490 yeah I think maybe for playing co-op sculpt spells comes into play a lot more. I play single player and am able to just move my party out of the way. It's definitely a preference thing. I can see the benefits of wizard.
      Sorcerer though you get charisma modifier adding to damage at level 6, so four levels faster than wizard getting it at 10. Let's me play all of act 2 with the buff. And twinning and quickening metamagic just lets sorcerers clear the field a lot faster in my experience. Battles are over in 1 or 2 turns if you're hastening and using quicken.
      I'd rather use a level 6 spell on something that will take out a ton of enemies than an elemental that might need several turns to do that kind of damage. Applying wet is definitely a big thing but I use Shadowheart for that. (Again though I get that it's different if you're playing co-op and have to be self sustaining.)
      I think the UA-camrs who use sorcerers in these guides are catering more to people who play single player campaign.
      Wizard gives you way more utility and lets you mix up how you defeat enemies if you dont want to just mash the same few spells all playthrough, so there's that.

    I fucking love frost spells too. Especially the build 11sorc for metamagic ( default points of charisma)/1 wizard (max intelligence). The reason is because you can learn unique spells(Glyph of Warding, Otiluke's Freezing Sphere can be cast twice, Conjure big Water Elemental and soooo amazing Wall of Ice which can be climbed wearing special boots). That a sorc doesn't have. And one more: if you use synergy of "Encrusted with Frost" items , you can learn spell Disintegrate for 100-200 force damage when target become frozen.

    Something I've been wondering about your caster builds. What does normal combat look like, and how often do you long rest?

    • @cRPGBro
      @cRPGBro  Рік тому +1

      I don't tend to rest a a lot, usually after I've depleted Short Rests and always before a boss or tougher battle.
      Personally, I've always preferred CC & buff casters for this simple reason: you often need just one spell cast for the battle to "end" like a well placed Hypnotic Pattern or Slow.
      Blaster casters do not have this luxury, but usually once you get enough AoE power, just one spell can also do wonders per battle.
      It's also why I prefer to focus on Cantrips for damage early, while spending the actual few spell slots you have with AoE CCs that are just more efficient overall.
      Resting in BG3 isn't exactly limited in any way at least, you can spam it as much as you want, and later you have more spell slots and also gear to restore them.
      I'd say that as far as the blasters, Elec Stormlord is the one that needs to rest the least of them all. Because Call Lightning can be spammed forever for the whole battle per turn with just ONE cast.
      Well, besides Warlock of course!

    I think i'm gonna try this concept but with wild magic instead and your wild magic barbarian build, alongside a lore bard and a way of the four elements monk in honor mode, just for the memes.
    PS: at minute 15:00 you talk about the spellmight gloves, but according to it's description, it shouldn't apply to AoE spells, as they don't require attack rolls. It would apply to ray of frost and chromatic orb though, and could be really good combo with an arcane battery upcasted lvl 6 chromatic orb on a wet target and the illicid power for guaranteed crit.
    also for bow options, as you're most likely going to use dead shot on another character with more crit gear, you can use a nice bow that gives you haste spell and resistance to both cold and fire damage, since on endgame you can get oneshotted by fire ranged attacks on some fights, it's a nice thing to have
    Lastly, if callows glow ring is taken by another party member you can go with coruscation ring, since if you're using it with other members it means you're illuminating the enemy, so you can just as well apply that radiant orb debuff on them for free, or ring of mental inhibition if you want to make sure you can CC some annoying enemies later on the turn with your CC/support dedicated party member, since you're most likely to act first with this build anyway, or even ring of free action to ensure you stay as ranged for the whole fight (very situational tho)

    I'm a bit confused as to why dual wielder is needed. The feat lets you melee attack with both staves since they're not light and gives +1 AC while wielding them. As far as I know, and I could be missing a mechanic or something, you don't need it to hold two staves since they're one-handed and versatile. Wouldn't it be better to simply get a +2 in Dex for the +1 to AC and also initiative?

      Dual Wielder is so you can fully benefit from both Staff passives at once!
      They are not Light Weapons so cannot be dual wielded otherwise, you can also combine different weapon types like Legendary Staff + Rhapsody Dagger in Act 3 for max DC boosts.

      I see now--the game physically doesn't let you dual wield weapons without Light unless you have the feat. I was thinking 5e rules, not BG3 rules!

    Is it possible to make good builds for clerics of the Nature and the Lore?

      They wouldn't be the most optimal or powerful, but certainly viable.

    Is this build better then fire one

      @cRPGBro  Рік тому

      I believe it is easier to get higher damage with it, because Fire lacks an easy way of doing so, because for Elec/Ice you can just have someone cast the Create Water spell on enemies for the Wet Debuff!

      CON can help overcome mistakes/survive ambushes, and it doesn't really cost anything for 14 CON at least.
