Ask me anything here for the next Q&A video!
Well how to keep burnout in check in structural engineering, as this is a deadline based industry.? Also would like to hear your comment on general payment lowball ing in this industry for engineers?
Im from India and I want to do my master's from USA and get a job. I'm in my 4th year of undergraduate right now. Can you please answer these for me, pleeaasseeee
Can you please tell me if u did any research work or write any thesis to graduate, like I see many universities having 4 credit hours for research in masters, can you please explain that. Also can you please tell me if it's necessary to have research papers published to get admission into graduate colleges. Or should I have some work experience before I apply for masters
And can you please make a video on the best universities/colleges for masters in civil engineering
What are your views on structural engineering vs CPM. Which ones better. I love SF and BM diagrams and designing concrete structures but in India and USA, different codes are used so I was thinking of taking CPM for my masters. What do you say?
Love your videos ❤️
Is a master degree worth it?
Is there companies that let you work while you’re trying to obtain your masters?
Hello from other side of the pacific! I am just wondering that, Because of Congress signed infrastructure bill recently, are you observing construction industry is in booming at the moment?
That was a great gesture by your seniors.
Great advice here Matt! Love hearing your take on the structural engineering realm
Thanks for these videos. Glad to see you enjoy your job and hope people take your advice!
Awesome Job, Mat! Really appreciate this video!
Thanks Mat, your videos are always helpful. This in particular has brought things which I've been thinking about subconsciously into the foreground. 👍👍
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us!
Thanks a lot Mat for sharing this video, Great content and very helpful
The example that you gave in the beginning is exactly what happened to me......word to word.....
I think it's really cool your colleages are like that, this would also motivate me so much. At my old company I got a mini frying pan and 50€ for christmas, I was like, lol, wtf. No present can sometimes be better than a present that appears like a joke in comparism to salary.
Best Engineering channel for Engineers is here💯💯🇺🇸
Damn Mat! What a timing! I just came back from an interview 🤣
100% agree with you.
Hey, Mat! Hope you can answer this question: What is the role and career path of a structural engineer in the mining industry?
For your Bad Company Culture example, my boss does that. I remember explaining to him that I didn't learn, ( specific subject) in school and he proceeds to berate my level of education. So I'm currently trying to get experience so I can hopefully leave after about a year for a more healthy company.
Hey Mat, I wanted to ask you a question regarding detailing. What exactly do you mean by ‘detailing drawings’? What are some sources for how to learn these skills. I’m a high school senior aspiring to be a structural engineer and I know this question is a little “down the road” for me but I was just curious.
What’s your opinions on civil engineer consultants (structural, geotechnics, environmental) working from home? It seems to be becoming a common thing, is it here to stay in for the long term even after covid is gone do you think?
I matter of wether it is suck or not. It is the engineer attitude him self that will steer the environment around him. Go out there and kick some butts and let them k ow who you are. 😎
Yo Mat, can you make video 'bout stuff that non US graduates must go through to start working in US? Are firms even willing to hire someone that doesn't have any experience in US?? Just curious...
If you have got enough connections in construction industry, you might as well work for yourself - be your own boss.

I started my civil engineering career through mining industry. there I worked in one of the Aisa largest zinc mines and it's smelters then after two years I switched to a well reputed MNC consultant as structural engineer at lower salary in which I'm currently working in rapid transit and transportation department. It's been a two years here .
I was worried about my career trajectory in mining industry that's why I switched to infrastructure sector even at lesser pay. Was it good career decision pls share your thoughts .
what are u even saying bro
