Ruyi knew the moment she saw the paper that she was being set up. So, she instead burned mantras, revealing that the Dowager Empress' own eunuch was being bribed by someone outside of Cining palace.

I ask because this movie seems to be a continuation of that movie.

Actually, it was the empress who sent the eunuch to deliver the news. Dowager had nothing to do with it.

確實沒有冷宮啦，但真要較真起來宮廷劇很多地方都與史實不符，像是皇帝是不會到嬪妃宮中過夜的、妃嬪不能閒著沒事就去乾清宮或養心殿見皇帝、更不能隨便帶著吃食給皇帝然後皇帝就直接吃下去、太后不自稱哀家、嬪妃實際上也不自稱臣妾
