I was there in the E section right above where both JJ and ML scored late in the third. That was by far the loudest that building ever sounded. The whole place was shaking during ML’s goal. Never seen, felt or heard anything close ever since. An amazing game to be at.
It’s sad these Stanley Cups were not on National TV. I remember having to order this on pay-per-view. Also, gosh, not knowing the score or time left at all times is super frustrating now.
Wow, Christina agulera doing the anthem. Crazy how time flies. She’s just a kid here.
Lol also Pierre McGuire as assistant coach. Guess the coaching thing didn’t work out for him.
11:31 damn, Christina was even a great singer as a kid 👍🏼
Just HoF:ers everywhere here in both teams, both players and staffs... 3 HoF goalies here, Barrasso, Belfour and Hasek!!! You won't sees anything alike in the current NHL. Everyone were so uniquely different then, while in nowadays they're just emotionless robots who are a living twigs which also plays exactly the same, both players and goalies.
One of the best SC final games ever.
I'm a Hawks fan, so I can't agree.
You can agree if you think it was a great game, win or lose.
Pens fan here - agree 100%
It in fact was a short series, Doc
So glad he finally retired. His voice grated on my nerves.
@@sjdrifter72 lol you must be trolling
@@countof3everybodyOD No, I'm serious,. He stunk up the broadcasts with his SCHRIIIILLLL voice that sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard in his later years calling the Finals. Had to resort to radio for better play-by-play coverage.
@@sjdrifter72 I can totally understand that. He was an all time great announcer but his voice wasn't for everyone and it was an acquired taste. He came across as quirky and eccentric even though he seemed genuinely good hearted, warm and humble as well. But to me Gary Thorne's voice was a freaking freight train when something exciting happened and I think made playoff hockey a way more powerful experience than anybody else including the Doc.
I was at this game and when Mario scored the place exploded. Couldn't believe they came back. To this day the best sporting event I've been to.
One of the most amazing comebacks! With Mario at his best and Jagr just reaching super stardom, it just wasn't fair!! The Pens were the all time best team that year. Half their roster looked like an all star team.
Also. None, absolutely NONE during that time had dared to fantasize that the backup goalie of Blackhawks later will became the BEST goalie/goaltender/goalkeeper ever in all sports. It's crazy how much Hasek were ridiculed during that time. The world weren't ready for him yet.
I'm still bummed we didn't get to see a rematch of this series in 2013!
Me too. Blame Bylsma and the try hard Bruins
I don’t know how they missed each other considering they won four Cups in five years between them
@@untexan Or 7 Cup final appearances and 6 wins in 10 years . The two powerhouses for sure
thanks for doing this! :)
Proudest moment ever @2:30:01
2:19:49 ... *# 68, JAROMIR JAGR!!!* 🚨🚨🚨
Oh this game HURT for Blackhawks fans.....def on a par as game 7 2014 against the Kings
2023 Stanley Cup Finals Pittsburgh Penguins Vs Chicago Blackhawks Sudden Death Style
Sad part is this wasn’t even the Penguins best season statistically it would be the following season where they were upset by the islanders.
11:30 Who the hell is that?
Britney Spears.
This Penguins group was so immensely talented, it's a miracle they won only two Cups.
It wasn't a "miracle" but rather a tragedy...or two.
Mario's Hodgkin's and Kevin Stevens' horrific injury played a huge part in ending their climb to being a dynasty.
i’m surprised they didn’t win the following year… they were even better in 1993
@Jason Takes Manhattan There are no ifs in sports. But if you're going that way, I can easily say IF the Penguins beat the Isles in 93 like they should have and IF Lemieux was healthy and played his full career, the Penguins should have won 4 or 5 cups.
But that's sports.
If "Ifs" and "buts" were candies and nuts...
@Jason.Takes.ManhattanShame they won more Cups in 2 years than the Rangers have won in 80
It’s better with the mike Lang calls
Hawks goals: 26:50, 38:15, 39:40, 1:20:00
2:28:21 WHAT was Steve Smith thinking?
It was obvious he HAD to take Lemieux down illegaly. Otherwise, he would have been on a breakaway. That was how badly Lemieux had him burned with his speed.
He had to make that play. Stopped a goal.
He was thinking: "Dang, it's Mario Lemieux smoking past me. If I don't take him down, 99% chance that he scores on a breakaway" (Back then, Lemieux was virtually unstoppable on breakaways). It was the right decision, meaning he took a "good" penalty.
At least he didn’t score on his own goalie again.
2020-2021 play more games a phenomenal player jaromir jagr want to join the record gordie Howe at age 52 years ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
can you believe the backup goalie for chicago was Dominik Hasek?? they should have started him chicago would have had a better chance of winning
I saw that and thought, if only Craig Patrick had known, do whatever it took to get that "backup" goalie from Chicago. Watching goalies pre-mid-1990s (pre Patrick Roy I guess) playing the stack-the-pads and upright method, it's no wonder the 80s were a scoring frenzy. The goalies then look awkward and stiff and lots of space all around them for an easy goal. I like Gretzky highlights, but man some of those goals were just flip it gently over a pad stacked goalie laying on the ground. Or just gently push it between the legs of a standing up goalie. It was video-game "novice mode" sad looking at times. That was the time they played in though and you still had to be great to score 200 points, though thats more like 120 now.
Once that butterfly style took off, suddenly goalies weren't on the ground flopping around after every third shot and it got much tougher to score. Gretzky was great for sure, probably greatest offensive player of all-time, Lemieux was great, but man, wonder how Lemieux would have piled up stats starting a few years earlier and with a more competent team like the Oilers had around Gretzky (he made some mediocre players look great, but Messier, Coffey, Kurri, Anderson were all good in their own right). Sigh.
Barrasso was good for non-butterfly goalie, but some of those goals are sad trickle throughs on what should have been easy saves (today anyway). Hasek and Lemieux and Jagr...oh man. Well that and back-pain-free Lemieux. It's no wonder he had pains, look at all that double-team, hacking, whacking, holding, spearing, slashing and cross-checking he had to deal with every freaking shift. no other player, even Gretzky, had to deal with that abuse. Amazing Lemieux can even walk today.
Hasek over Balfour? No way. Hasek hadn’t developed his style yet.
2:29:48 Steve Larmer left Mario Lemieux all alone....
Thé player jaromir jagr never stop to play hockey play with kladno to stay in shape and comeback in NHL soon yeahhhhhhhhhhh ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Back when hockey players were men
No one names their kid Jiggs anymore.
Sudden Death
Why no body in Mario L on his winning goal?
At 5:02 is the woman behind John Davisson laughing at the hottie that’s walking past her down the stairs with the long blonde hair? LOL
That lady is coked out of her mind!
@@punchpistols4846 and jealous her better days are behind her. She doesn’t look that old but certainly in cougar range.
No - She doesn't even notice the blonde walking down the stairs. She's laughing about something else.
1:30:21 2:30:02 🤌🏿
2:31:31
Bill Clement's analysis is feeble.
If Chicago won game 1, they probably would've won the series! What a choke job! FACT!
Why would they win the cup because they won the first game?
Nah man. These Pens were insanely good! Loaded with HOFers. And this wasnt even their BEST team. That was the following year and they lost in the 2nd round. Had chicago won game one, I still think the Pens win quickly, like 5 games.
easy there, Nostradamus.
Not necessarily, no. But they were good enough to beat Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, they blew the 3-goal lead here and fell apart completely, with Mike Keenan's help.
