I'm 55, and was a Bobby Orr era Bruins fan. There is literally no scenario where I would feel comfortable with Boston playing Montreal. None. If Boston was 81-0 and Montreal was 0-81, I'd assume Guy LaFleur would somehow score from beyond the grave to put game 82 away. Fair to say I'm scarred from the 70s & 80s era.

I’m 70 and a Habs fan. I thought that Montreal domination was the way the universe works. The last 40 years have been rough. However, since the late 70s I have also learned that Bruins’s fans are human beings. :-)

@@RoderickJMacdonald In some ways, I feel lucky as a Habs' fan since 2005 only, because I didn't live through the multiple dynasties the team had between the 1940s and 1970s. I have had only expectations of pain and dreams cut short, and so when the team has had fleeting glimpses of temporary success, such as in 2010, 2014 and 2021, I have been satisfied with it, though none of those years involved the Bleu-Blanc-Rouge hoisting the Cup. The cap era meant re-calibrating expectations for basically all NHL fans; dynasties may well be a thing of the past, and that's probably a good thing.

That was probably the toughest series Detroit had in that entire Cup run - yes, even moreso than the 7 game WCF against Colorado (that's not a knock on Colorado either; that's just how much Vancouver put Detroit through the wringer). He'd only pull Luongo WHEN the game was FAR out of reach - and everyone could see that the Bruins were in Luongo's head at the START of the game. Team psychology is a huge disadvantage when your team & goalie aren't at their best. Canucks needed to act early - and Vigneault would NEVER quickly yank Luongo & put in Schneider. ARGH!!! Totally understand what you mean when saying you get nervous after 6 straight home wins and the team you cheer for has home ice advantage in game 7. I got the same feeling in the Swedish playoffs of 2021/22 where this actually happened. Six straight home wins in the final, only for my team to lose game 7 at home, not scoring (0-3) as well. While I "knew"/feared it would happen, it totally crushed my spirit....

I was on vacation in Boston during that series against Vancouver. Was in the train station that connects to the arena watching the game at a bar. Kind of made me a Boston fan. They'll never eclipse my Devils fandom but it's interesting how a chance moment can make you like something (in this case a team).

Great video Shannon! You are a encyclopedia of hockey knowledge… I’m kinda shocked you didn’t have game 6 of the ‘93 western conference final on this list. Any true hockey fan knows the Leafs got screwed by Kerry Fraser (and Gary Bettman) which could’ve produced an EPIC Stanley Cup Final (Leafs vs Habs) which we know would’ve been a better final than Kings/Habs. As a Leaf fan my entire life, I will never forget that game and game 7… well that will haunt me for the rest of my life lol. Keep up the great work!

Actually, that 1988 Final technically ended in an Edmonton sweep over Boston. The game that was originally Game 4 was suspended when the power went out in the Boston Garden just after Edmonton tied the game 3-3 and would have been replayed in its entirety if it had gone to a deciding game, which didn't happen as the Oilers won the official Game 4 at Northlands.
