People prefer "separators" over "contested catch/above the rim guys" (Keon Coleman) because separators are less QB dependent, meaning they dont need a certain archetype at QB. While contested catch guy's need gunslingers like Matt Stafford for example.
I actually want Carolina to draft burton In the later rounds he played with Bryce and I think that will help Bryce out having a familiar face in the receiver room
I agree with your ideas. Polk is phenomenal. He can do it all and will be a great pro WR. He was over shadowed by Odunze, but Polk may have higher upside. Wilson is a gamer and will make big plays in key moments.
Good breakdown this draft does seem stacked with WRs appreciate your analysis I'm really liking Nabers because I trust my eyes but unfortunately can't say my team will make that choice but seems like there are a lot of types for what any WR starving team can look for. Good Job on this one I'll be checking for your other analyses as we get closer to the draft
Steve Smith said the steal of the draft is Malachi Corley. I think Malik Washington deserves a hard look as a day 2, possibly day 3 pick. Top 5 WR PFF grade this year. (91.3 from memory) And he looks fast on the field.
Yea smitty also said that bout that bum ass Ole miss reciever we got too!!!...and disappeared on and dodge conversations about em,halfway through the season(mingo)
@@kshoezcolson5845 I think Steve Smith is overrated as a wr analyst. A lot of people give him too much credit because he said he liked Cooper Kupp. Kupp landed with the perfect coach and scheme.
I’m glad of the Keon Coleman placement. He may not have the same route running skillset like some others but the talent lvl + high point ability make for a perfect prospect to take a chance at pick 33. He would be a developing solution for us as an X receiver for us too.
Odunze "lack of overwhelming athletic profile?" HAHAHAHAHAHA. I've heard this from a couple people now. How ridiculous. He was 1st in his state in the 200m (21.25).
Burton is gonna be a beast. One of the best sleepers. Also Coker from Holy Cross. Out of the top guys, I love AD Mitchell and think he’s being underrated.
I am also climbing on the JaLynn Polk bandwagon. He can do it all and play any WR position. He may have higher upside than his teammate Odunze who is great obviously. Polk will be available in the 2nd or early 3rd round. I am sure he is on Dave Canales radar since Canales was coaching in Seattle during Polk's junior year at UW. Steve Smith loves Polk too and said he is a Dawg with Rabies, foaming at the mouth kind of competitor. Check out his tape. Hard not to be impressed. Love to see him as a Panther.
My top 5 is basically moot with what draft picks we have, cause we aren't likely to see them. I think our realistic 2nd rounders we could snag would be Mitchell & Worthy from Texas or Walker from UNC. Some late round / undrafted steals might be Jermaine Burton from Alabama, Cornelius Johnson from Michigan or Sam Pinckney from Coastal Carolina. Ideally I'd like to see Walker since he is Carolina grown, but that's my bias talking. Mitchell would probably be the best pick for Carolina at our position on the board if WRs are going quick fast and in a hurry. I don't dislike the Keon Coleman pick but I just don't know if he'll still be on the board. There's a lot of teams that are gonna be looking to address WR questions and it's a stacked year to do it in.
@@UBSportsTalk ah ok, well yeah I def agree with your assessment. Those dudes are all killer Wideouts. It's really gonna come down to whoever gets them putting them in a route tree that best suits their playstyle.
blair thomas! that's a throwback name. haha. he was awesome at penn state back in the 80's. where did he get drafted? the jets? i don't remember him doing much in the nfl.
Great analysis. My problem with Burton is that he gets knocked off his routes. His play strength through contact, isn't where I'd want it to be. I like him as a 3rd round nfl pick.
As a Texans fan , we need a WR in rd 2 at pick #59 unless they move around. Wonder who will be there at that selection, bc i am sure they use #23 on defense.
I’ll have Troy Franklin above Coleman and dude from UGA🤷🏽♂️ Coleman reminds me of an undersized Benjamin BUT he has a huge upside IF he can put it together. There were plenty of WR that had the size and speed but it never got put together. You talked about the separation and kind of underplayed the it a bit. As a Panther fan this was one of the biggest issues with our WR this year. You also mention MHJ with the DBs now testing him, they are going to do the same with Coleman but Coleman is NO MHJ skill set. Troy Franklin can do it all! He has size( height but can gain some weight) speed, he can run any route and catch. I’d rather have a step in and play over a let’s see if he develops type of player. It’s all a gamble
Also IDK what games you fully watched with TF because he can definitely track the ball, he just didn’t have to most of the time because he was WIDE open BUT I give you the he needs to add some weight.
Wasn’t downplaying Coleman perceived flaw, just that it ain’t as flaw as folks claim it is. Also Franklin struggles vs physicality and his speed can be neutralized with that kinda coverage.
Ainias Smith, not a lot of people have even looked at this young man. Ainias gives me Steve Smith flash backs and it would be a shame not to grab this guy for the slot on day 3. With his ability to separate after eating up yards on SEC defenses and after the play dog in him, it would just hurt so much to see a guy like that slip. My dream pairing would be Xavier Worthy with Ainias Smith for Bryce. This would allow you MAYBE to trade back and still acquire both, you just never know what draft day is going to turn into.
I simply don’t see how you have Keon so high. He struggles to separate and he’s only a jump ball specialist. That profile worked maybe 4-5 years ago. And duh separating is important. Every single catch you make can’t be contested. I think he might be over drafted and we might see a situation like Nkeal Harry
I like the vid. I feel like the top 3 are set in stone. MHJ, Nabers and Rome. At 4 I think Coleman will solidfy that by the time we get to the combine, its happening now. After combine I assume he will be locked into 4. 5678+ I think will be mixed and debated. Franklin, Thomas,Leggette, Adonai and Worthy. McConkey will slide imo bc size/durabilty/upside limitations. Corley has the potential to sneak into the top 10 imo.
@@UBSportsTalk I like Ladd too but I worry about his size and if he can stay healthy in the NFL. Rome vs Nabers is the most interesting debate to me. Most UA-cam pundits have Nabers...but Daniel Jeremiah, Bucky Brooks, Mel Kiper and i think Matt Harmon have Rome at WR#2. I think its the debate of twitchy athelete vs smooth athlete.
Jermaine Burton is a no for me. he was not that consistent his first season with the Tide, having had transferred after winning the Natty at Georgia. He improved this past season statistically but not significantly. I was not a big fan of his during his 2 years at Alabama and I love my Bama guys…Roll Tide.
