OR you could consider a prostitute being pregnant a way of ruining a "beautiful city" by creating an illegitimate child. Here's my interpretation after reading some other interpretation. Definitely one of my favorite song. :D I had a dream of the time we were born… We lived so beautifully in that city of wombs, clapping our hands and laughing out loud. - The innocence of children, not knowing anything. Happily playing around, having fun. We drank down our paints and the colors of the rainbow changed; - Discovering the truth, how the world changed in their eyes. We began to wish to be held and stopped being able to walk on our own. - How they wish to stop time/growing and stay as a kid, to stay innocent. We laughed scornfully together, Devoting love to our toys, - Trying to ignore the truth by "Devoting love to our toys" (focusing on their own worldly happiness) As we wished to destroy the untouchable children, With simple words. - Jealousy towards "the untouchable children" (other people who have luckier life than them) A prostitute set a fire… and someone in a far off city died. - "someone died" (Himself being the victim) of being bought into life from "a fire" (sin) by "A prostitute" (his mother) and realizing it "in far off city" (in far time/ later on when he's older) Beckoned to by lemmings, we arrive at this world’s end… Please don’t get any stronger; amidst the pollution, a siren rang out, driving me mad. - Reaching the end, wishing to stop getting mentally stronger against the world/tired of living. I've read many interpretations on this song, and one of my favorites was talking about how each line connects to a character/moment in the Tokyo ghoul manga. However, I really love your interpretation as well, and Österreich is known for using religious imagery and talking about the past/present/future in their songs, so I think you explained this song beautifully. I always thought of the theme park being a type of limbo. The narrator is will always be waiting there, but "you know where heaven is structured". I have a different theory so pardon me for me long message. I believe that the singer/main character of the song is the telling someone else that god isn’t really(not that god isn’t inherently falls) I believe this because throughout the song the singer says stuff like “we” and “you” letting me to believe that the main character is talking to someone else(mostly likely their sibling) and telling them god isn’t really. we later on hear the main character say “We laughed scornfully together Devoting our love to that body” I believe that the main character is trying to say that them (and whoever they are talking to) laughed at this idea that god doesn’t exist later on in life, and they decided to devoured their love to that body (Worship Christ) I come to this conclusion because the word “body” can also represent the Eucharist “The symbolic body of Christ”. Later on we hear the singer say “I want to burn the worthless picture book, with the breath of those sheep” The book can represent the bad memories and traumas caused by their parents. The main character is trying to move on from that life, create another life and depart from the sins of people who hurt them as a child and took their innocence as a child. The word sheep is also interesting because fall preachers or hypocrites are discribed as “wolfs disguised as sheep: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves (Matthew 7:15).” In the bible. I agree with the idea that this is talking about society. A society that ignored their suffering while playing nice to the abuser of the main character. Finally “We lit a flame in our bodies, I’m sure you can hear it well enough to drive you mad…..its telling us to (live).” The flame means “The Holy Spirt”. Holy Spirit is describe as a flame within the followers of Christ in the bible, many times for example “Exodus 14:24 and the Holy Spirit dwelt in the flames of fire that fell at Pentecost in Acts 2:3-4. God is your consuming fire.” The Holy Spirit compels the main character (and the other person the main character was talking to) to live, and move on, away from the faults and sins from their abusers.
