@@SpaceClord I have played what are considered the gems of the Horror genre like Outlast, Alien Isolation, Monstrum and finished all three, never felt anything except for you know, the jumpscares which are sudden (Monstrum was the only one that kinda got me, the other two were rather mediocre/normal imo). So yes, for me this is the best horror game that I have ever played and can't wait for a sequel.
Damn I love this game, I do hope that perhaps there could be a follow up to it, honestly really good and simple mechanics using the sounds to your element for survival. I really want more of that
the creator of the game is planning on making an ther one, they are deciding if it should be a longer version of the game or the witches backstory (i want both of them lol)
You are so TALENTED! These themes are so effective??? I know absolutely NOTHING about music, all I know is that this sound tells every part of my being to R U N. You are an artist, you managed to touch so many people and trigger exactly the same fear-struck sensation in all of them! And you know you've done a really good job when people come back for your work alone: even if it wasn't in "Gnarled Hag" this theme yells "THEY'RE GONNA GET YOU, RUNNN!" at the top of its lungs. Congratulations, I hope to see more of your music in more media!
I don't know how but this song perfectly captures anxiety/ fear in my opinion. And I'm really hoping for a sequal; I never got to play the game yet but I've seen videos and it's one of the first horror games with an art style like that to give me chills. Also I wanna know more about the kids=bugs thing 😳
Honest to God, but I LOVE Gnarled Hag, and I've wanted to say something on it for a while- So I will. Gnarled Hag is one of the best Indie-Shorts I've played because it has a mood I haven't gotten with many horrors. I really appreciate the art style. The Backgrounds are creepy, yet have little details around them which almost set up a Lore, and the 2 Characters in the game are perfectly designed. The Girl looking sweet enough to where you feel bad for them off the bat, and the Witch being this horrid monster which you want to run from even when you're hidden. I also love the little gameplay mechanic where, you have to actually use the Protagonist to survive, because their eyes follow the sounds of the Hag. With that said; I also think the sound design needs to be appreciated The Footsteps of the Witch are simplistic as Hell but they work because you can ALWAYS use them to detect where the Witch is, even without the Little Girls eyes. If they're loud, she's close, if they're muffled, she's most likely on a different platform, and if they're creaking, she's using the stairs. Speaking of sound, the chase music has to be one of the best I've heard. It's horrifying and really boosts up the adrenalin for when you have to run from the Hag. Yet it still has a musical touch that fits with the fact that, you're being chased by a Witch. Despite how short the game is, there's something about the little bits of Lore which give a sense of Dread and Helplessness. Spoilers for anyone who wants to play it but; the realisation that the Snail on the table was once a Kid, and the Kids that had been stuffed in bags, crying in the basement. I've seen worse before, but there's something about the Sound and Implications (and the amazing little art style) that make it feel new, therefore, scarier. And in short, I just hope something happens with it
This theme is among the most iconic aspects of the entire game. You've done the right thing uploading this. I don't suppose you'd be willing to share how you managed to isolate it?
@@pomgranite2634 If what you say is true it's a very good work indeed. Simple, yet memorable; showing, more than telling; and low-key enough we want to hear it, not blasting us away. It also sounds to me, like what *would* go through the mind of a child, running from a horrible menace.
I saw this game a few months ago and I loved the animation quality and all of the effort put into the aesthetic. I revisited again, and after inspection, and various other material on the game, I am fascinated at the great amount of storytelling, world building and overall personality you managed to cram into this little game. I'm really interested in seeing what you have in stores for the future!
This game has literally zero flaws when it comes to the music, game design, and characters, and objective. Absoultely one of my favorite horror games of all time.
imagine if the witch catches the little girl and she says to her "why were you running? i made cookies!" ok but no joke, that was an amazing horror game dude. keep making more when you have time.
Whoever made this game is mad talented

I honestly hope you make a sequel because this is by far, no joke, the best horror game that I have ever played and gave me legit anxiety/fear.

@@pesci20002010 ok now you're dragging it
@Julian Charles yeah they make a point too. Most modern horror games rely purely on jumpscares. Gnarled Hag actually has atmospheric dread.
Every chase scene was a musical with me and my backup dancers. This hit my soul.

Banned scene of Spirited away lol XD
The character reminds me of no face and sad man from the windows horror Edition or the creepy animation
Bumping while running for your life
This should be the Hag's chase music in Dead by Daylight.
If the witch findes you so guess what you have to hide.
Maybe the sequel could be about the hags backstory? I'm really curious about the family paintings
It scary but cool at the same time
BRUH I LOVE THIS HHHHH
