    I think this was a great build how to because of the angles and the door being more complex this was helpful to see a version built. I personally would love to see drawers put in… that’s not your project but one I wished was filmed because it is more popular and in some cases maybe more functional. My corner cabinet in my kitchen has one longer side than the other so it’s like a massive rectangular shelf but makes getting stuff clear in the corner hell. Look forward to the other styles, this could be helpful for wood shops and garages too!

    Hmm. “Basic corner base cabinet.” Say that three times fast and be sure to include the smirk at the end…😁. This is a great addition to your cabinet series and lets us see you flex a few different muscles. I might be able to help you with your struggle to find the right words at the “moment of realization “ 😜. I can’t count the number of times I’ve cut backwards bevels (even after supposedly thinking it through) and I also regularly have to take things apart because I put them together out of order. SMH. Nice, adaptable, and accessible build! Hi to Bubs!

    Hi Shara, can you talk a little about the advantage or disadvantage of framed cabinets vs frameless cabinets, other than the aesthetic aspect?

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  Місяць тому

      That’s mostly it-just looks. Some people stay the frame adds some stability and strength, but once they’re installed (if done properly), and unless you just have a really really wide cabinet, frameless cabinets are just as stable. Framed cabinets are most common in the US. Most everywhere else uses frameless. It’s really just about the look you’re going for.

    This is not a criticism, but maybe a suggestion for a future video. I prefer a 45 corner, so you can have two shelves with a full circle lazy susan inside just sitting on top. No need for a central pole or a cheese wedge removed. I don't see it a lot, but it's going to be one of my next projects. Great job.

    Hi there! I love your content! Do you have an app that you use to design your spaces or do you just draw them out? I am not an artist and have so many ideas, but it is so hard to draw them out.

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  11 днів тому +1

      I prefer to draw my rough room layouts by hand. It’s just so much faster and easier than software. I draw it up in software after I have a good idea already sketched on paper. I’m no artist-my sketches are rough. But they don’t have to be amazing. I just use them to figure out measurements. But, if you’re looking for software, MakeByMe and Sketchup are two good options.

  • @ryanrgoing
    @ryanrgoing 17 днів тому

    @woodshopdiaries How do you measure for this type of corner cabinet?? If i have a 24 in by 24 in space to put one in do i make it larger to keep the 24 in side cabinets lined up?? BTW you inspired me to consider this instead of wasted dead space in the corner of my bar. Thanks for any input!!!

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  17 днів тому

      I’m not sure if I’m understanding correctly. Since typical cabinets are roughly 24” deep, if you have a 24” square space to put a corner, that means your other two cabinets would be butted together at the corner (in the front) and there would be no room for an opening to anything you’d put in the corner. In order to put a corner cabinet in there, you’d have to slide your other cabinets over or make them smaller to give you room for a corner.

    I see you using the Kreg rip-cut in all these videos. How do you get accurate cuts? I bought the Kreg Rip-cut recently for building some master bedroom built-in closet shelving... and I hated it. It was terrible. Not a single cut was straight or square. I returned it and after much decision making, I ended up buying a makita track saw. Tear-out was non-existent, cuts dead on straight and easier to set up than the Kreg rip-cut.

    • @WoodshopDiaries
      @WoodshopDiaries  Місяць тому

      I’ve been using it for years with multiple saws and have loved it. Takes a couple cuts to get it dialed in, but after that, it cuts beautifully for me. Everyone has a different preference. Whatever works for you works 👍

    Curious have you ever built something like this- I am doing this for my son- it is an existing kitchen bottom cabinet where he wants a microwave to sit on a shelf with trim around it and then a bottom drawer. I am having trouble with the shelf-I would prefer to just put a shelf in to hold the microwave but don't know how to hold it up- like pocket holes and maybe like a 1x3 but would I also need something from bottom of shelf to bottom of cabinet to hold it and then a drawer underneath. Also I am taking of the t bracket on the cabinet so I know I need to attach like a 2x4 at the top to help brace the counter top correct- any suggestions would be appreciated

      Hi! I’m not sure if I completely understand what you’re wanting, but when I redid my kitchen island in this video: ua-cam.com/video/i-k1bUkJLD0/v-deo.htmlsi=iMXE9kOD2_K9uMCp
      I cut out existing drawers, added a shelf, and kept the drawer underneath. Sounds similar (maybe?) to what you’re doing. The shelf was installed with pocket holes and I wouldn’t hesitant to put a microwave in it if that’s what I needed there. Maybe that can give you some ideas?
