Thank you. People like me really appreciate advice like this. I'm separating in 23 days and had to do alot of things last minute because of deployment and field ops. (Green side Corpsman) I'll sub just to see what more advice to find on your page
Definitely worth considering, and this advise is against the grain but is truly the best way to consider witch option is the most profitable for you. Thanks for the support
You make more money selling your leave... It's easy math, not sure why so many people disagree with my statement. I'm selling 60 days because I'm already taking 40 days of terminal.
Love the content brother, thanks for posting this type on content. A question: I’m medically retiring this month, I want to sell all 60 days. Is there any action I have to take directly to initiate the process or do they simply take that balance and deposit the appropriate amount? Thanks for taking the time mate!
So not 100% certain, My understanding is that they will automatically pay you for any unused leave at your separation but I’ve also heard of people needing to fill something out similar to when you sell at a reenlistment. I’d check with your CPPA just to clarify. Appreciate your support!
Selling your leave is silly you only get the base pay. So you sell a month of leave for a 2 week pay check. Better believe it’s a better idea to take that 2 month decompression before college.
Your right that you only get the base pay, but you also don’t lose any other pays. That said the best financial decisions in most cases are to sell the leave. However, some may value the “decompression” time over more money. To each their own. The point here was to state that the standard advice is wrong in saying that you lose bah or other pays when you sell leave.
My understanding is that is mostly automatic. But yes, I would first go to Mypay and verify your last LES is correct and the. Contact your previous pay office. The money should’ve been deposited in under 2 weeks. I’ve never seen it take longer than that, as long as it was filed correctly.

That was the most contradicting statement I’ve read all year.
can i take leave and sell some days
I sold my leave about 6 weeks ago and i still have not recieved my pay. My boy 2 months ago and still nothing.
Get in contact with your personal department and make sure they filed it right. It should not take that long.

I sold my leave. How long does it take to hit my bank account.
Fantastic, doesn’t take very long. A couple of weeks max. It is a separate payment from DFAS and will reflect on your LES.
@@SouthernDeaux ok thank you.
Who do you contact to sell your leave days!
I am already out, but my balance still have 44.5 days left!
If you just recently separated this should occur automatically. I’d still recommend you speak with your command pay personnel. For Navy it’s the CPPA
