As I listen to Mary Chapin Carpenter speak, I hear kindness and gratitude. It rests nicely among her strong work ethic and creative passion.
She is still a ravashing beauty! One of those priceless, irreplaceable, distinct performers!

My favorite song of Mary's is John Doe 24. As a person with an disability its very rare I hear an normal person sing about being locked up. I first herd a family reunion after over hearing my cousin who just got her PHD tell someone that I was just like my mentally disabled cousin just not as bad. I TX true I was born with mild cerbal palsy. My I.Q when last tested was 117.. I play the cajon drum. And boy do I wish this had a drum in it only so I could play and share the story.
She's inspired me since 1987...such a beautiful wordsmith and complete human being...seeing her live is a royal treat..she's an American treasure..
Still a beauty. Still a national treasure. Still the one that got away.

She's so kind to the audience........I too just lost a sister, too soon. Only a Dream has always reminded me of childhood and my 2 sisters...realizing the day to day closeness was over when we left for school, finished and went on to other things, and how bitter-sweet the changes were.

I love her! Her music that is. I will disagree , believing that “Shut up and sing” does have some merit . As Michael Jordan said when he was asked why he didn’t speak out more publicly on social issues : “Republicans buy sneakers too!” If you want to alienate half your audience, feel free to “get political”. Worked out well for the Dixie Chicks!
