after moving from thresh support to top and mid, I now refuse to play standard meta support thresh when I do get support either by queueing myself or autofill. Heartsteel thresh bot with grasp as well as electrocute AP thresh goes way harder botlane than anyone dares to admit
So I end up as support sometimes when me and the bois get a 5-man going, and my usual "tryhard" build with support thresh is pure CDR on every item I buy, with a side of beef. However, if I see the enemy team has a lot of squishies, I'll take Dark Harvest, and still build all ability haste items...but this time the AP versions like cosmic, Ludens, Crypbloom, and usually try to round it off with a deathcap for the juicy %AP. It's quite silly when you get your first item, and suddenly oneshot their adc by yourself and they're just flabbergasted. Nice vid, I thought you were serious tbh cuz I'd understand it tbh lol. I also play Thresh top/mid with the bois, and since I'm the highest rank one of the group, even if I get fed there's only so much an immobile semi-tank can do, and it can be frustrating...which is why I picked up Warwick mid. Most mid mages can't out poke his sustain, and usually take TP as well, plus I can just rush tiamat, and essentially perma roam both bot and top to help the entire team get a lead, while also joining my junglers for river scuffles. I do play AP sometimes, but that's usually with the bois.
I been playing Ad tresh support, you don't need to go full AD, but a strong first attack gives you a better engage. Sure you won't tank as much so you don't favor big teamfights, you play it more sneaky, take 30-50% hp and leave them running if you cant hook after. Full support thresh needs allies that don't escape and just trust you to keep on tanking and ccing. Half AD thresh can help ease that burden of full hp bars, bringing greed to your allies and fear to your enemies. FULL AD tresh I love, but I can see how its not as useful since at some point they will outgrow you. Im not good at AP tresh and bruiser tresh i don't really get.
I'm going to be honest, I have played thresh "support" for a good while now, mostly due to distrust towards ADCs. however, when it does work out? hooo boy, I used to run with a pal of mine sett thresh adc. we went against a caitlyn senna before. we bodied them. its night and day if you get a person who just clicks with you vs diamond mcgackins and the 1000 pings.
try aftershock demolish conditioning overgrowth triumph alacrity attack speed double health scale zak zak hallow radiance knights vow jak sho zhonyas/kaenic/thornmail/abyssal mask/trailblazer steel plated boots on supp lots of fun and lots of dmg and u still are support
this hits hard. ive been one-tricking bard this season; i align so well with their aesthetic and playstyle. i love the versatility of being able to be whatever my team needs most. but at the same time, feeling impactful has a support is an uphill battle right now. i end up having to be the dps and the tank and our splitpusher and teamfighter and lockdown -- all totally fine on their own but I can't do it all at once. games have been so hit or miss lately and it sucks knowing that my impact is in spite of my role and character, rather than because of it. especially when it feels like my mains have to work so hard to be budget versions of meta champs (bard < morgana, orianna < lux, milio < literally anybody who can shield or heal their allies).
blasphemy But actually I went through the same thought process and do funny thresh things in support role sometimes. Learned how to play thresh (and league) in general from watching you a few years ago. So top thresh is always the ‘normal’ like you said. Supports just fun sometimes
I err... might've played him since his release day? His popularity makes it harder to pick him in off-meta roles when lower pick order than our own support (highlighting can equally encourage them to pick it away from me as it can prevent them), and the enemy team's support as well, so I can relate.
Support is the best role, you feel the game as it should be, a team oriented game. Butt, that feeling can go up or more often than not, DOWN ! When you don't fit with your carry, or vice versa OF COURSE, your game and the game is dead from the start, or maybe you do get lucky this time, but it really was luck. The range have always, ALWAYS been, since ever, from 'that was god level support' to 'WTF Thrash, uninstall and ky', yea league community is tight like that. And I've played plenty of game, since years and years, and I know, I can recognize when I have an ADC, win or loose, and when I have a wannabe/learning toddler. Just the level of 'mistakes' alone tells a lot about the level of the player, and no I'm not high on the ladder, just high otherwise, it's just the way it is. League is a complex game with lots of strats and tactics and rules and items and hackers and trash mouths, it is the heaven of egos where something so meaningless means so much. PS : Cryo, please keep it up on mr.T, you are my oldest (and honestly, sole and only) Thresh reference since a very long time and have always admired your ballz (butt I swear I never looked at them >.>) for sticking with Thresh top XD
Realized this being an April fools joke because of one thing:
The lack of mastery emote spam on missed hooks as support
The plot thickens
This is like a Soraka mid main playing bot support
"Unless you wanna know how to play ad or ap thresh support. I can help you with that, I shouldn't but I could." sounds like such a threat lol
My man did a full 360 to return to the original.
