I had the exact same thing with pampered chef happen to me!! I told them that isn't the item I sent them! She quickly backtracked-saying that she got the boxes mixed up. Never heard from her again 😂
I sold Pampered Chef and have a ton that I use daily. I do not believe the broken pcs. In the box are the actual item you shipped. For anyone thinking about picking up wireless devices at GW ETC, I read online that you need the proprietary Microsoft dongle for their products or they won’t work.
I've been selling on eBay for 20 years. I got my first negative feedback in July (seller wanted a new magazine, mine was used and marked - as stated in the listing). Feedback dropped from 100% to 99.7% which did not affect sales. In August, I sold a new, factory-sealed DVD, and the buyer left a negative review of the movie (he said the movie wasn't as good as the original). Ebay refused to remove the feedback and the seller refused to revise. Sales have fallen 25% since my feedback rating fell to 99.3% in August. I'm listing a lot, at bargain prices to improve feedback (now at 99.4%) but expect I'll have to wait until 12 months pass and the first negative drops off the feedback calculation, since only about half the buyers leave feedback.
Cool story with the boots. As someone who visits Mexico relatively frequently, I know that people try to find high-quality and durable used goods from the US. I’m glad that these boots found new life!
As a book and media seller since 2008, yes, there are special niche's to look for, as another commenter just posted, older jazz, but also certain soundtracks - sometimes those have only been released on CD, and not on streaming.
Hey Justin. I know you typically talk about charging for shipping, and setting up policies for flat rates. However, I've noticed a lot of your sales lately have been with free shipping. What is your decision making process for determining whether or not to charge shipping or just go the free route? Thanks for all of the excellent info!
Regarding feedback…I have been selling on eBay over 20 years- it used to worry me to get a negative. I have to say people are A LOT quicker to complain now. I have about one negative a year… some valid- some not. Don’t give it too much thought😊
I agree! I haven't been selling quite as long as you, maybe 5 years less, but totally see it. Recently I got a request for a partial refund on a lot of things that was $11! Starting to get tired of people fishing for a refund. Was also scammed recently when I put in a bonus item because I was feeling generous. They claim they only got the bonus item and not the actual item, so I had to refund that. I'll no longer include things that aren't included in the auction because of that person. People are not only quick to complain, they're also getting more brazen with the scams.
On media, CDs and vinyl music, I focus on classic rock and roll and jazz. I bought a mega lot of jazz CDs from the 1950s and 1960s. I sorted by performer and sold them. On vinyl records, condition is KEY. I play test all the records I sell.
Unless your customer takes the item to their post office for their storage, they really have to send it back in order for me to collect insurance payment from the post office. A recent experience I had: Customer sent photos of a broken bowl so I filed a claim with USPS, however they denied the claim because they did not receive the broken item in its original box. Supposively the post office now retains the items in storage for up to 2 years. This is a change from past years.
Makes me wonder if they still have an item a wonderful buyer went to the PO to return after I gave them a refund. They kept denying my claim and have refused to send me my property, which is theft. I really hate sending USPS, but it's the cheapest method.
I just got my first negative in years. Left a comment they never received item, despite tracking showing it was delivered (and shipped and delivered on time.) eBay removed it in minutes after reporting it. What a REFRESHING change from years ago when I would waste hours on the phone getting the runaround, passed between multiple representatives, only to be denied feedback removal because it was "their opinion".
This morning I had a return opened on an electrical razor that was sold as parts only/ not working. Their reason for the return, razor isn't working!!! I just accepted and moved on.
Can you please discuss your delist-resist process? Do you change the listing at all? Does delisting effect your standing with ebay? Thanks for all the great information.
I'm not an official stone ware broken pan expert, but my gut tells me it would not break in that manner and that many pieces in transit. The box they showed in the photo didn't look crushed and shredded beyond recognition.
Hey Justin, now that you run a tool that tracks people's sales (including mine), can you now tell us more about the ebay algorithm? For example, can you tell the effect listing every day vs more sporadically has on sales? It has to be a gold mine of data.
Hi Justin - this was very helpful, thank you. Regarding the authentication program, I am confused by the policy and don't understand what items qualify and how to activate it for my listings. I have listed and sold items that are designer/luxury brands with high listing prices, so I thought they would qualify. When I look at my store, I don't see any indication that they are marked as such. I definitely had to pay for the shipping label, too and it went directly to the customer, so clearly it didn't go through ebay's program. Thanks in advance for walking us through this!
In my very limited experience, it is not easy, if even possible, to have negative feedback removed. I received a message from a buyer stating that they received an item damaged, refused to send it back for a full refund with various excuses, and stated that if I didn’t give them a specific refund amount and let them keep the item, they would me negative feedback, then they left it after I didn’t comply. Despite multiple times contacting support and escalating, pasting both the buyers message and eBay’s own policy, eBay continues to refuse to remove it.
I have 4 brand new pampered chef items I planned on listing on Ebay tomorrow. After scanning the comments, now I'm considering listing them on FB Marketplace local. Avoid shipping and fees...might try it.
Very easy glue it back together and take a picture and compare it. Would like to see the photos and also if that’s all the wrapping you used I would say is pretty light
Believe no way is that the Pampered Chef dish you sent for many reasons. Beware. I hate to even have you have to oay for return shipping on that scam...lets hope eBay handles it correctly at the end. Enjoy your videos! Catching up on a lot of them now that i found you. I appreciate the lack of drama.
Perfect timing on variations challenges. I recently attempted to create a variance listing on the app. After spending way too much time moved to desktop and still haven’t successfully completed the listing! Instructions were terrible. Definitely not fun experience.
I had a buyer say that their purchase was missing a part. I can’t remember that being the case. They demanded that I send them the missing piece. I asked if they received the pieces in the photos from my listing. He wouldn’t answer the question. I asked if he would take a photo of what he received but wouldn’t do that either. Told me that if I didn’t send him the part he would report me to eBay. I kindly suggested that he return the item but he didn’t want to do that. Finally he sent me a screen shot of my listing and it wasn’t mine. Next thing, I’m getting an email from eBay for item not shipped. I responded to him to return the item or let eBay decide and that I anticipate his negative feedback. I just wanted proof that I sent the wrong item but he wouldn’t send me proof. If he won’t send it back for a full I feel refund then something must be up. I would love your POV resellers.
Justin you missed something! The seller with the neutral feedback, the buyer mentioned that he used a forwarding address which is against ebays terms of service. I get a load of these in the UK that come with a code similar to GSP. I've then had these people complain that the items havent arrived in an acceptable condition because as far as I can see they're going to a UK address. Using a forwarding company is actually against ebays terms of service and the buyer could get his feedback removed for that reason alone. Just something I thought I'd point out.
Im the one who asked the question, an yes I was actually reading up on that specific policy. The buyer said he lives in Canada but had my shoes shipped to some place in the USA an he had to go across the bridge an do this an that, which was the reason he was writing me 9 days after item was delivered telling me the patten letter was scratched more then the pictures shown. It was just the way he worded his messages, "before I leave you feedback, how would you like to fix this issue?" I offered a full refund an he quit writing but 1 month later his feedback says I was not cooperative or didn't want to fix the problem
@@justincrane2760I would contact eBay about feedback extortion. They made it clear they would leave you a bad review if you did not bend to their wants.
buyers should be able to leave negative feedback for sellers that are scammers...why not? one must alert people of their practices. I just have one seller like that...then another ...so do i live a positive feedback just to be nice? Heck NO!!!
Just today...I had a buyer try to scam me by messaging me pics of literally a different box, different shipping label with completely different addresses (didn't think I would notice); different packing materials, but similar glass broken. I reported them to eBay, blocked them, and replied saying I think you mixed me up with another seller & spelled out why. Within minutes my messages disappeared, as if ebay flagged them. I will always ask them to return everything to get a refund, since I had another time I was afraid to dispute the fact.... my item wasn't even delivered to a person & I was getting fake pics of similar item broken.
well i had a bad experience with a seller...sold me an item for 179 dollars, claimed that worked fine...got the item and guess what did not work...so after asking the seller 4 times for the shipping label, which he said i had to pay to return the item...and after insulting me implying that i was a scammer, i just opened a case . Ebay immediately sent the shipping label...but wait... the seller then sent me an email trying to making me think that it was ok to put the item on the trash...no mention of refund or nothing...so i replied asking him to send me an email with a very explicit instructions from him in regards to his wishes to trash the item and if so when he was planing to refund my money... never replied...he knew i opened a case..if i was not smart and follow his "wish" ebay will assume that i never shipped the item and will never get my money back. I received the box, an old box falling apart, with just some tape, barely any cushion to protect the item...so i place the item in the same box, and send it back not before taking pics of what i packaged and showing my phone with the date and time. I also asked the postal carrier to scan the box for me...
Hey Justin, I enjoy your videos. i recently paid for flipwise. I love how it works and looking at my data on it, and I wish I could put all my notes into it magically. Unfortunately, every time I start entering cost data i think to myself, this could be time spent adding new listings. Even after catching up to old items, and if I just entered info as I buy, it feels like wasted time in comparison to putting listings up. So I was wondering if you had any advice as I’m thinking I may give up on flipwise. I don’t think I can put the time into adding the important cost, source, and location info. Maybe I can hire someone to do it, as I love looking at the info in it. I put my newly bought items into a notebook once I get home, with date and cost. If I could enter that into flipwise then instead, ahead of it ever going on eBay, that would be huge for me.
I was thinking the same thing. I try to jot down any an all info related to items sourced as soon as I get home because it may be a week or so some times before I get to list them then by that time I have so many I forgot exactly where I got something or how much I paid for it so I feel like my data on flipwise isn't as correct as it should be. Beyond that I love the app. I love having the bigger picture kind of a outside looking in view of my reselling business. Keep up the good work an keep those updates coming!!
I had someone use this scam on me. I could even prove it was different from the item I sent but eBay still took $150 bucks from me. They even knew I was getting scammed but did nothing. I will never forget that.
I’d estimate that 10-20% of my glass/breakable items end up arriving broken. It’s always seemed to me that it’s unlikely - given how well I pack things - that so much is breaking during transit, but then again, I have seen how poorly all of the delivery companies treat packages. I had not really considered “challenging” the returns by making them send the item back to confirm it’s what I shipped. It seemed like a pure waste of money to me. I will give this a try at some point in the future - and keep an eye on your update from this item. Thanks!
Creating variation listings on Ebay is such a faff. I’m not sure why they make it so difficult.🤷🏼♂️ Etsy’s version of this feature is so much easier to use, and it’s far more streamlined.👍🏻
I have 100% feedback positive and one guy gave me neutral feedback and what did he say, "Nice!" Had my first request for return but I don't accept returns. I explained the cost to him for the return and it wasn't my fault he wanted to return it, so he's rethinking the return. Question? None this time, you answered it before I could type it. Thanks!
1) Boots look really good restored; great find 2) the bowl; definitely was not the one you sent; these scammers have NO shame on trying to switch out the Sellers good item with their broken item or falsifying scratches and damages on very good items or trying to extort money from the sellers 3) variations are good ONCE you figure out how to do it; but yes the modifications are a Pain
Hi Justin, Thanks so much for your very helpful content! I am a stay-at-home dad for two small children and do a bit of reselling when I can as a way to make some extra money and keep sane. My question has to do with Flipwise - my current situation does not allow for a lot of time spent in front of a laptop, so I am here to ask if and how Flipwise works on mobile. I'd really like to start using it to catch up on my record keeping but don't want to take the plunge if it's not something I can easily use on my phone while rocking a baby, because for the fifth consecutive night in a row, she'll only sleep if she's in my arms. Send help. And thanks!
I've seen other UA-camrs say that offering free shipping puts you higher up on search results. Is this true? I don't offer free shipping because if I get a return, I'd like to withhold the original shipping if applicable.
Justin, Great idea to have them send it back. They may even go all out and break yours just to get there refund. Sketchy for sure. I had a pyrex bowl few years ago and they made the same claim, I am pretty sure they did the same thing.
Hi Justin! I have a question regarding shipping to an authenticator. This week, your best flip was a pair of New Balance sneakers that went through the eBay authentication program. You said the cost of shipping was $0 because shipping to an authenticator is free. I recently sold some diamond earrings and had to pay shipping and insurance, for a total of about $35, to send the to the authenticator. After hearing your experience, I did some research on eBay and in seller chat groups. It appears that whether the seller has to pay shipping to the authenticator depends on the item sold. So, no cost to ship sneakers but $$ to ship jewelry. Can you elaborate on this issue? I could not find eBay's current policy. Thanks!
Hey Justin, should I add in the cost of shipping supplies somewhere on Flipwise? If so, should I average it out over all my items or calculate item by item. I currently ship a variety of different sized items. Im just over a month into my eBay journey. Thanks for all your help!
Hi Justin - Question about eBay promotions to move my listing closer to the top: I can see how promoting will help if I am listing a common item like a Bible of which there are tons listed, but if I am listing an uncommon item like the book "Six Seconds in Dallas", an alternate theory on JFK's assassination and there are only 7 copies listed, does promoting only get me to the top of those 7 listings, or does promoting put my listing in front of people who search more broadly for "JFK", or "Kennedy assassination", or "conspiracy theories"? I feel like promoting specific items still helps it get in front of people searching in the ballpark area of my specific item. Second question: can you explain what you are doing with all the very brief video edits in your videos, like you are splicing several takes together? It doesn't sound like you are splicing, but it looks like you are splicing. Love the videos - antidotes to the over the top click bait videos with some bro shouting at me.
Quick question, you mentioned vintage clothing as an example of something that might be better to sell outside of eBay. What marketplaces would you recommend?
I hear you say some of your items occasionally takes 3 years or so to sell. I’m new to selling seriously and don’t have anything that old. I am every month or so deleting and relisting with maybe 2-10% less price each time depending on many things, usually smaller side. Thinking you must mark down rarely to have an item last that long, right? Maybe i should be sticking it out longer for bigger amounts. I’ve been more willing lately also cause I’m stretched a little thin and can use more money now, so it’s more important for me to get cash out than maximize profits.
Great video, as always! I have a question: Is there a time when you usually see an increase in sales? Is there like 1 day out of the week where you notice more sales? Thanks.
Two things.....I wouldnt necessarily say negative feedback wont affect your business. 1 person out of 1k decides to check your feedback then decide not to purchase something because of said feedback. With hundreds of thousands of buyers I would say that is sure does change things. Not that youll ever notice lol but hey js. Second I wanted to point out when you request a feedback revision from a buyer. They can decide to change it to neutral or positive in turn removing the negetive. Anyways man good work with your yt I enjoy tuning in
Hi, Justin. Good video as usual. I had one item shipped, but FedEx unable to deliver to the address, I look it up it looks like a warehouse or business address, but anyway the item sent it back to me. I have contacted the buyer and tell him the story, and asked him to cancel the order. But he never responded to me just ghosted somehow. What should I do? 😢
Hey Justin - Great videos. My wife and I will often jokingly say WWJD (What would Justin do?) when discussing our resaling. Two questions. First, I've heard anecdotal stories that labeling breakable items with a FRAGILE sticker can actually lead to the package being treated even more roughly by disgruntled delivery people. I am not one to stereotype nor assume malintent by postal carriers (their jobs are tough) but curious on your thoughts to label things as fragile or not. My other question is regarding your rising youtube fame. Has anyone recognized you yet while "out in the world" based on seeing you on youtube? Keep up the great content!
Pampered Chef stones are notorious for breaking in transit. If they are stressed, they break in transit. Had it happen multiple times with NEW ones shipped from Pampered Chef.Turned me off to them for good
Hi Justin. Love the information you’re able to give us. Sure helps me. I’ve been selling since January and doing ok. If I make 200 a week, I know I am going in the right direction. I do want to know if there is some way to really showcase that I do have an eBay store . I do not have a UA-cam channel nor have any desire to star one. I work full time and at least for now this is part time (although if you’re into it, it’s really a 2nd full time job!). I do put some things on FB and tell people what I’m doing. Just wondering if there is another source to advertise myself. Thanks so much!
How would you handle an “item arrived damaged” when the buyer is in another country and used a shipping forwarder, not using eBay’s shipping hub. Who pays for the shipping, return and refund?
My understanding is that there are no returns for international sales (or at least not from you); doesn’t the buyer have to handle things through eBay, as you shipped the sale to eBay and then eBay shipped it internationally?
I literally just had 2 returns on completely new sealed in box items that I put a ton of bubble wrap in, saying it's broken. Both new customers to ebay(not saying that all new ebay customers are scammers. But man, this is fishy. Wish I took pictures of the serial numbers but to do that for every listing would be a lot of effort, but going to do that going forward, I don't trust these buyers.
While I agree making the seller return the item when you think something is fishy with the return request, once the seller returns it, eBay will automatically refund them. I have had this issue before and eBay is on the buyers side EVERY time! Then you are out the cost of return shipping and still have to refund. How do you argue that a buyer is being shady and actually win your case with eBay?
Hello. I'm a new seller on eBay and really need some information on how advanced ebayers do their research of an item you don't know anything about. I had a little luck on some items with Google lenses. Much less efficient is an eBay integrated picture match option. For some reason, Google Lens finds stuff listed on eBay that eBay feature fails to. Are there any other tools? Also, where do I see stuff that sold on eBay prior to 90 days? Thank you
But if they send it back, you lose your seller protection, and you void the guarantee for opening a damaged claim. You will automatically lose if they send it back.
Keep scammers at bay....be sure to take pics on every angle, add video. If you do get scammed, ease write a negative on their feedback warning other sellers and you can report them to their local law enforcement agencies and fbi....it is theft, plain and simple.
That is so bizarre to leave a neutral feedback like that with no expectation of resolving anything. And they're willing to buy from you again. Then why would anybody care about their smelly blanket that they believe can smell nice in the future? 😂
Can you remove positive feedback, had a buyer leave positive feedback saying don’t buy from this guy he never shipped my item while I was on scheduled leave it is a negative comment but left it as positive I assume so I couldn’t get it removed?
Negative feedback story - I’ll make this short - I’m a top rated seller and I sold a nice vintage tall plastic Starbucks tumbler with straw. On the non-intellectual’s third use the top got stuck on so they gave me negative feedback. I asked eBay to remove it because, in addition to the buyer not being all there, they didn’t follow the return process nor give me a chance to address before the inconceivable feedback. eBay still has a ways to go in my humble opinion.
no i do not agree with ur statement...sellers can be dishonest as well and when a buyer but items they expect the right item, the right condition as described, protected for transit, and on time...buyers are PAYING for an item, It is not FREE, so they have the right to vent or complain if things are not as expected. yes, some buyers are a pain but not all of them, including myself that in one week i encounter no one, but two dishonest sellers...come on sellers want the money, and that is it???
If you are a lousy seller, you deserve negative feedback. But I have never heard a reseller admit they are less than perfect. It's always the other guys fault.
That broken dish does not look like yours at all. Darker vs lighter and as someone said, pampered chef has no ridges. I have never had more returns than the last few months in all of my 27 yrs selling in ebay. Ebay needs to change their return policy. First, 3 months to decide to return an item is outrageous. I received a 33 day( less 3 days ship) notice of return. Dress didn't fit right. She then gets 24 days to return the item. Dress bought 8/19, asked to return 9/21 and she has till 10/15 to get it back to me, a $20.00 item. She can wear the dress lots of times in that time frame. Second, doesn't matter what your return policies are either. I sold a14K antique baby ring few weeks ago. She complained it wasn't gold. After I said you bought a 14k baby ring and that is exactly what you received, she said well, I had to put something in the reason for return box. So, even if I had no returns on the listing, ebay still accepts the return because most every buyer knows, they just have to check not as described and they get an automatic return acceptance. I couldn't even withhold the shipping refund because I felt it was her problem, not mine, because ebay gave her that back as well. 3 days before that request, I received another one where she said item doesn't match description or photos. Ebay is deceiving sellers into thinking they can have a no returns policy. Finally, all these bogus returns impact your seller rating on ebay which is not fair.
I really do love those kind of stories like the boots. A customer who really appreciates the opportunity to repurpose an item is awesome
You should update us on what happened with the broken pan next week!

I would contact eBay about that feedback since the seller used feedback extortion.
Perfect timing on variations challenges. I recently attempted to create a variance listing on the app. After spending way too much time moved to desktop and still haven’t successfully completed the listing! Instructions were terrible. Definitely not fun experience.
Me too. I gave up.
We have also had a suspect Pampered Chef breakage report. That is definitely not the same pan you sent. Theirs is the ridged roaster.
Heck NO!!!
On the broken dish/Pan, that is a used Amazon box, see the tap on the box? Did you reuse an old box? I think your hunch is correct.
Awesome content as always Sir. You efforts are appreciated!
If I could enter that into flipwise then instead, ahead of it ever going on eBay, that would be huge for me.
we’re working on the ability to add unlisted inventory now!
When you have Best Offers turned on, what is the lowest offer you’ll accept before rejecting an offer or offering a counter offer?
Hi Justin, I would imagine the devastating hurricane in the SE will impact sales for awhile. Any idea how many sales go to Florida, SE? Thanks
Quick question, you mentioned vintage clothing as an example of something that might be better to sell outside of eBay. What marketplaces would you recommend?
Always have them open a return.
Thanks.
My wife has a similar situation to that broken item. It has now been four days and the buyer just can't make the time to send a photo lol.
Anyways man good work with your yt I enjoy tuning in
Adhdave had a negative feedback that should be removed but eBay won’t. It was in a more recent video.
Great video
It doesn't matter, I have 2 negatives the past month that blatantly violate policy, and they refuse to remove either of em.
I do vendoo and have to double check them on my listings that sell.
I agree that is not the same dish.
Thank you
Where should i ask ebay seller questions?
But if they send it back, you lose your seller protection, and you void the guarantee for opening a damaged claim. You will automatically lose if they send it back.
LOL you may have really good packing methods but the USPS has really good damaging methods
Odd, I had to send a necklace for authentication and had to pay the shipping to the authentication address...
Remember that "median" does not mean average sale
Keep scammers at bay....be sure to take pics on every angle, add video. If you do get scammed, ease write a negative on their feedback warning other sellers and you can report them to their local law enforcement agencies and fbi....it is theft, plain and simple.
That is so bizarre to leave a neutral feedback like that with no expectation of resolving anything. And they're willing to buy from you again. Then why would anybody care about their smelly blanket that they believe can smell nice in the future? 😂
Seriously!!!!!
The broken piece in the box is definitely not the one you sent.
Can you remove positive feedback, had a buyer leave positive feedback saying don’t buy from this guy he never shipped my item while I was on scheduled leave it is a negative comment but left it as positive I assume so I couldn’t get it removed?
Yes, that is on the list of valid reasons for removal.
I think you are making comments on the wrong channel LOL
@@ticktock2383 They aren't making a wrong comment at all by commenting it here.
always request for ebay to remove the feedback, you might get lucky.
from my experience that feedback removal tool is automated and luck of the draw if it gets removed.
That is not the same pan
Buyers these days just say anything for feedback now lol
no i do not agree with ur statement...sellers can be dishonest as well and when a buyer but items they expect the right item, the right condition as described, protected for transit, and on time...buyers are PAYING for an item, It is not FREE, so they have the right to vent or complain if things are not as expected. yes, some buyers are a pain but not all of them, including myself that in one week i encounter no one, but two dishonest sellers...come on sellers want the money, and that is it???
@@lolitabonita08 came here to vent huh? lol
@@gabers909 if so what is to you??? My comment is to educate people and i guess u do not have the capacity to pick up on that...
@@lolitabonita08 I really don’t care I just think it’s funny lol

You can find time codes for all questions in the description!
If you are a lousy seller, you deserve negative feedback. But I have never heard a reseller admit they are less than perfect. It's always the other guys fault.
FYI at 22:46 you put up on the screen a previous question rather than the one you were reading.
oops
