This mic has done so much good for me this year! I love it, loved the price and love the attention it gets and confidence it gives singers! I've made like 20 music videos with it on my channel.
Bigger problem than some pops going through. The screw actually strips pretty easily, and if that happens, congrats. That beauty of a pop filter is now a paper weight. Speaking from now having a pre-owned one.
I think with some good audio editing he could have really lowered all those high tones and pops that hurt the shit out of my ears. All in all that was a really good mic test that he did.
Like any condenser microphone, it's going to pick up a sizable amount of room noise. I'm not sure what kind of "noise" you're talking about. Also, what purpose would you plan on using it for?
ironmatic 1 mostly planning to stream and record UA-cam videos. However, I will be living in a dorm room so the noise of people moving around and speaking will be an issue.
I think you'd be better off with the Rode Procaster, which is a dynamic microphone and would pick up very little room noise. If you are barely starting UA-cam, you might not want to dump loads of money into it until you get settled with a fanbase and such. I think you'd be *much* better off getting a used Blue Yeti from eBay for about $80.
ironmatic 1 I have about 1,400 subscribers on my actual channel (this is my personal one) so I was looking for an upgrade. I have a Shure sm57 mic as of right now and I do not like it lol
I quite like the sound of this thing. Too bad, I think I stumbled on a good deal for one, except it's the USB version which I didn't know was a thing until about 20 minutes ago. I want to find one that can emphasize lows more since my voice is pretty deep.
hang in hang on, @ 4:00 did you say, "output impotence" if so, I commend you 😂😂😂 that's great, loving your reviews too dude, really informative, let's us know what we need to know, and you seem like a humble dude :) keep it up man
For the love of all things holy can you please review the Blue Spark Digital? I think a ton of people out there would love to record decent sounding podcasts directly to an iOS divice like an iPad but there's very little info out there regarding this. By the way you are by far the best mic reviewer out there. Love the shirts!!!
Excellent thank you. I'd love to see you do a video showing if it's possible to get good sound for a podcast out of that setup. The Apogee would be a great VS mic to go up against it. You sing and play in your videos. Can we see your music somewhere?
*you are freaking awesome and i have made 2 mic purchases now on your reviews... MXL 770 and now the Blue spark.. my next and likely final one I purchase you recommended will be the NT1.. thank you for the time and effort you put into reviews i do appreciate the knowledge and insight you share* 👍
This mic sound GREAT. I could really notice when you recorded the acoustic guitar because the mic I have now (a dynamic one) doesn't capture the full range that well. I think I'm buying one tonight!
My friend at work just gave me this mic brand new still in the box, I make beats and like to record vocals for fun and I already see a huge difference with this mic, it is very crisp
I can't believe that I'm doing this .... I have a plan for how my audio will be developed 1) Marantz Pod Pack 1 After a couple of years 2) BM-800 + Focusrite Scarlett Solo After a couple of years 3)Blue Spark + a good mic stand because the boom arm from the Marantz Pod Pack is like the Neewer one so it doesn't stand a chance with this little beast
But I have a question . Does this little windscreen do the job of a popfilter ? Because if it does I would go for the BM 8000 . I know it sounds almost completely the same with the BM 800. But it looks so cool ....
Is it still as good as it was after three years in your opinion especially compared to newer Spark SL? Saw your review on SL and you didn't recommend it.
+Soberse That's a tough one. I haven't tested the AT2035 mic before. However, I listen to the Tested podcast and I think it sounds awesome on that podcast...I can't say which one I prefer since I haven't actually tested the 2035. I would guess they're pretty close in performance, so probably check for whichever is cheaper? But this is a guess.
+Geeks Rising a lot of people say that the nw800 is a 100-120$ mic at 30$ and it would be good watch these 2 contenders in the ring :)... I dont have 150$ at this moment and I wonder if the neewer is a good choice or maybe its better to wait and go for the spark.
Tommy Lopez the mount is terrible on this...those bands that suspend the mic get stretched and loose and causes the mic to tip in one direction and doesn’t sit balanced...went through one already and currently on second and the bands are already stretched and becoming an issue again... Mic is nice but picks up everything
I just picked up a behringer UMC22 and a Neewer NW-800 kit because of your other reviews and it sounds amazing. I was wondering what would you suggest for a mic upgrade for in the future if i want maybe just a step up from the nw-800. Also ill probably be picking up a behringer 204 or 404 probably soon also.
I am recording áudio with sennheiser PC 3 on my pc for elearning videos and the hissing, White noise is too much for udemy.. do you recommend sennheiser PC 360 g4me for this tas ? I am worried with background noise mostrar o all. Thanks. Francisco.
+LuckyBlockGamer 12 (LBG-CRAFT) Definitely shop around using google shopping before you do. I found this for a LOT cheaper than the regular Blue Spark. =)
I dig your videos and always give you a thumbs up! It's a pity Blue has discontinued this plus so many other models. You didn't review the USB version of this one, that I could find, but I imagine the sound quality is similar, since the functions (focus button) seem to be the same. Unfortunately the cables are proprietary and impossible to find replacements for. (Looks like a USB-C but it ain't.) I love Blue but in this case Blue SUCKS.
UPDATE! Hey Bandrew, in the ensuing 12 months, I was able to purchase another Blue Spark USB which came with both the standard USB cable and the Lightning cable, so I can use that and give the other one (plus the lightning cable) away to a friend. And today I just won a Spark XLR on ebay for $32.00 * (looks like it doesn't come w cable AGAIN, but XLR is no problem), so natch I went looking for your review of same, forgetting that I'd already seen it. 🙂
Hey man, love your reviews and decided to buy the Behringer UM2 based on your video on it. However, the great 30USD price is only in the US and it's pretty much 70USD+ outside the US. The US online retailers won't even ship it internationally. Do I have any other options or is it worth the higher price?
+xaner54321 The UM2 seems to be out of stock most places in the US so the price jumped up last time I checked. I haven't tested many other interfaces yet other than the Xenyx302USB which I also recommend, or the Blue Icicle (if you're only recording a single mic). I will hopefully be doing the Focusrite solo soon as well.
If I started giving away the microphones that I test, I run into a problem. When I am asked to revisit a microphone or compare it to another mic, I would have to repurchase the microphone. I am not rich and I am not given these microphones for free. I purchase them with money that I earn working a full time job. So I am currently unable to give them away.
+Podcastage No problem dude , I understand . Keep working hard until one day you become some kind of youtube king then youll be given items for free and make money in minutes . Hard works the key to succes .
+Aurel Jashari thank you kindly sir. I doubt I'll ever be some UA-cam King. I'll just continue making videos about gear and hope that I continue to provide useful information to people.
kovacs eugen the BM-8000 is a budget microphone, so of course the Spark is MUCH better, as it is expensive and advanced. However, there are key differences. The spark is a USB mic, meaning troubleshooting with it can be very difficult. The BM-8000 can be connected to a nice interface, and if given the right settings, it can also sound pretty nice.
Brian The Duck The blue spark has a USB version and an XLR version . The XLR version is kinda cheeper because you'll pay for a goddamn interface . If you have the money and you know how to use these things properly certainly go for the Blue Spark . It's much better . But the BM8000 is very good too
Hello I will be starting vlogs with a VG30 Interchangeable-Lens Handycam I am wondering what Mic you would recommend for me. I am on a bit of a budget under 300
A portable phone charger can power a icicle ? Can the portable phone charger also power the condenser mic ? So i can hear myself clear when I'm out and about ?
Oh, Thanks. You might remember me, I haven't commented in like 7 months but Ive been subbed for about 1 and a half years, Watch all the vids though! :D
+brenden jurgemeyer If you are going to invest in this mic, invest in an actual USB Audio Interface. Just make sure it provides full +48v phantom power. Don't just get a phantom power supply and plug it into a soundcard or directly into your computer. if you're going to do that, just go with the snowball.
I've heard that there isn't much of a difference in the sound quality between the Blue Spark and the Blue Spark Digital but I'd love to see you review the Blue Spark Digital to hear for myself. I'm looking for a new mic and I can't decide between the Blue Yeti and the Blue Spark Digital.
I unfortunately haven't done any research on the Blue Spark Digital so I can't speak intelligently about it. Hopefully one day I'll have the money and time to review it.
It requires 48 volts of power input into the mic. There may be some way to have a phantom power supply and a XLR to 3.5 mm, but it probably wouldn't be worth it.
+NintendoLper I ordered it off musicians friend because it was much cheaper and I have used them in the past. Also, as I state in the video. I use the XLR cable that came with the mic.
+VcPlayz I only buy from amazon as they are trusted sellers, and don't buy used gear for these. I can't ustify buying a $250-$300 kit just to test this mic out.
Hi man! Excellent reviews! I bought this Sparkle around 2 or 3 years ago and after too much work he's finished. The internal capsule is oxidate and working very bad. Now I bought the BM-8000, I'm waiting arrive but I'm afraid that the BM are very inferior than the Sparkle (cause the price difference). I'm not asking you a video comparing, but maybe you, that have both, can tell me something about their audio differences. For sure you have good considerations. Of course I'm waiting a less construction quality, but I'm not worried about that, but the audio. Thanks for both reviews and good luck!
The uneducated listening probably won't be able to tell the difference. It obviously won't sound as good as a $200 microphone, but it will serve most purposes fine. I have not done any direct comparisons so I'm unable to speak intelligently about any of the exact differences.
Omg ! your is the best Critic Of the Microphones

Great review for a great microphone.
Good mic, but the pop Filter is not the best. I heard many pop Sounds.

Yeah, the Blue pop filters are pretty but anybody else's pop filter does a better job.
For 3.400 subs at the time your vids are so professional :)
+MasterOfBlades Thank you very much! You are too kind my friend.
@@Podcastage oh how the turn tables

I have a blue one :)
This mic is absolutely wonderful for it's price! I recommend this mic to anyone who wants to get into nicer gear on a tight budget.
ironmatic 1 is the background noise unbearable? Or does it do a good job of not picking it up?
Like any condenser microphone, it's going to pick up a sizable amount of room noise. I'm not sure what kind of "noise" you're talking about. Also, what purpose would you plan on using it for?

Hey Podcastage dose every condenser microphone need 48 v phantompowe??? To work
No. Every condenser DOES require some voltage to work. Check the specifications sheet to determine what voltage is required for a microphone to work.
I want ask something, can i run BM 800 without any phantom power? Thank You
+Orza Naomi No you cannot. Requires ~4.5v to sound good. Soundcards do not provide this. I recommend USB Soundcard & Phantom Power.

which is better a usb microphone or a microphone with audio interface or a microphone with phantom power?
Check my video "XLR vs USB microphones"
Do you know the reason why the mic crackles at 4:09-4:11? I have the same problem with my blue snowball.
My immediate thought is it's the cable I'm using with this mic.
This is the mic that I use for making videos if anyone wants more examples.
probably a dumb question, but does it come with the mic cables and mic stand?
I cover what came in the box in this video. Does not come with mic stand.
Does the mic and beringer work on the MacBook Pro?
Yes it should.

If you run it through a mixer and then run the stereo output from the mixer into the DSLR, I suppose that could work.
Can I use this mic with elgato while playing wii u
What do you think about the Bluebird, the slight step up?
Haven't tested it. A bit out of my price range.
Can u Please leave a Link to your interface i would want that Please
Hello I will be starting vlogs with a VG30 Interchangeable-Lens Handycam I am wondering what Mic you would recommend for me. I am on a bit of a budget under 300
It's 100% dependent on your room, use case, desired sound, etc.
A portable phone charger can power a icicle ? Can the portable phone charger also power the condenser mic ? So i can hear myself clear when I'm out and about ?
You shouldn't be using condenser xlr mics on the go and you should get a mixer instead of an icicle
Thanks i will do that cause i just came from the Guitar Center and told them the same thing
Blue spark digital?

Ok thanks and if you want to do a usb mic review may i suggest the Neat beecaster or one of there other mics. :)

what are your thoughts on the scarlet audio interface 2i2 do you think the spark and the scarlet could make a good duo
I haven't tested the 2i2 directly But it's the same preamps and everying as the solo and I think that's a great duo.
thanks man ill let you know about it after I order em nice vid keep up the great work

+Sticky_Keys check the poll and look at what's coming this month. Www.geeksrising.com/podcastage
Where can I get the red one? and what XLR Cable do you use?
+NintendoLper I ordered it off musicians friend because it was much cheaper and I have used them in the past. Also, as I state in the video. I use the XLR cable that came with the mic.
please do a review of the focuse rite cm25, and keep up the good work m8
+VcPlayz I only buy from amazon as they are trusted sellers, and don't buy used gear for these. I can't ustify buying a $250-$300 kit just to test this mic out.
+Podcastage in that case can you do a review of the blue nessie
+VcPlayz I actually think that mic is on the poll. If you vote for it, it should get higher on the poll.
Is it work well with Blue Icecle?
Charan'z kitchen thanks!
Mic not widely available
