This is much needed. Any idea on when this will happen? Timeline? Also being a major power in IT we need to use advance AI solutions to integrate the air defence of all 3 branches. Since indeginious solution is being developed it's high time we start involving our private players too so that it can be developed in quicker timeframe. 🙏🙏

It's really very important to Indian Army. We've seen what happened in Russia- Ukraine war. Russian armoured groups became easy targets & got destroyed by Ukrainian customised attacks. Russian Army's armoured formations didn't get proper Air-defence cover that's why they proved to be sitting ducks.

The ongoing Russia Ukraine conflict has shown the importance of radar integrated to missile system. In the early phases of the war the Russian generals believed in an overwhelming show of force. When the stingers and the Drones caused a heavy losses it forced a rethink in the Russian army. They realised that minimal radar signature coupled good radar and radar missile integration is what is needed. This integration is so good that the Russians are able to shoot the shells of the HIMARS as soon as they are shot. This fundamental shift is now ominously being implemented in all formats: land, air and sea. Russia's battle ships have now retreated from the black sea. If and when the battle shifts to the sea the Russians have a clear advantage. Nobody can detect their submarines and from underneath the sea they can fire the missiles with deadly accuracy from hundreds of miles away.

Perhaps I did not make myself clear. Every missile system is integrated with a radar system. However, what determines their effectiveness are the radars and the processing software. First the radar. The Russian UHF mobile radars are way more advanced than the Western radars. Secondly, consider the processing software. The software to process the radar inputs is housed in parallel computer with very very large memory where all the radar signatures of the various planes, missiles are stored in the memory. The trajectory of the incoming plane or missile is calculated, an intercept point determined and a missile is fired via the hardware connections.The main difference between the S -300, 400, 500 systems is the software and the radar. The radars in the S-400,500 are more powerful as well as the computers which are much faster.

This is part of a very complicated issue we face … and was one of the top priorities of the CDS.. a single, combined air defence network..
I have no idea how they’re gonna solve this problem … which can help eliminate redundancy, increase efficiency and higher & uniform density of assets / given area.
And the army and airforce both, don’t wanna let go of their control … and both as on date, have a genuine reason to maintain an air defence arm ..
I’ll state a peculiar example -
Jamnagar has massive massive Air Force presence .. for obvious reasons.
But then they also have an Army Air Defence unit there .. just for point air defence :/
I always wondered, why can’t the air defence of the sector be with the airforce itself .?
For those who’re old enough to remember, Mig 21s from Jamnagar airforce base had shot down a PAF Atlantis that had breached Indian air space ..

Hopefully one day we can develop our own long range sam comparable to S400 and naval S300 fort type sam
Land based CIWS with programmable ammo is need of the hour to tackle low cost drones..,
We need to strengthen our ground assets to counter China attacking from both ends(could be 3 ends if we calculate Arunachal Pradesh).
We need to find a way to ensure the other 2 squadrons of the S400 to get delivered and deploy MRSAM and XRSAM in sufficient numbers as we are unable to increase air air strength.
Apart from our limited air assets, the majority work load will be on the ground based SAM systems

No, it was started in 1996 for self defence, the results are now getting harvested by the defence sector, no need to colour with political, it is a good and proud movement for the whole of India. Last year terrorist used bulk number of low grade rockets to saturate isreali iron dome and they nearly succeeded. Now Isreal is testing laser dome. " Please make a video on indian laser and directed energy defence system development" . In next couple years Chinese airforce will use miniature wing man, artillery launched cheap drone swarm, space pod launched kamikaze drones and many more. Without laser or directed energy defence systems we are doomed. Producing rocket propelled air defence is much more expensive and non practical when a whole drone Swarm costs less than a single air defence missile.
