Yaa tears starts flowing listening to Michael Lannas. Great memories we had of a beautiful Zimbabwe. Now we are scattered all over the world wishing one day we could go back to the good old days unfortunately most of our loved ones have passed on. Our growth points are no longer bustling with beehive of activities.
Cry the beloved country 🇿🇼,don’t want to say much,.otherwise l will have a mental breakdown,in a country that oppressed us,but if you want to elongate on this Listen to Sam Cooke’s” A change is gonna come “,l miss Rhodesia if you asked me,we were better off in a white ruled country than the sheep who turned out to be wolves in sheep skin under the guise of liberators.
nice to see a lot people love Michaels music, there was a time if you wanted a name for self in music in Salisbury u had to c ome to Arcadia ,all the greats played ,harare mambos ,lious mhlanga ,Jethro shasha ,eye of liberty,Otis waygood it was The battle of the big bands from high fields harare bulawayo thats the zimbabwe we dreamed about
1989 ndirimubus Chawasarira ndichibva kuNjanja bus had breakdown just before Save bridge ,this song was being played over and over again mubus.Memories of a stolen future for a then young boy.
reminds me way back in 1989 when my dad to come get me from the village where l was staying with my grand ma to go to hre to start grade1. the bus driver played this song over and over again for a three hr jney.
Nostalgia!! And my heart bleeds by just looking at the state of things in Zim today compared to the days I'd listen to this song sitting on my dad's lap whilst taking his lion larger
Yes and very much so. Still being played at friends’ parties and wedding gatherings here in the UK. Is there anyway we can substitute those music arrangements, that main voice of the pharmacist, the backing vocals and players of instruments there present when this piece was recorded? No- not at all. This music is timeless and very much part of the Zimbabwean discography history. The band (Talking Drum) was always one of the featured acts representing the country whenever we had tours by international artists who in those days preferred to perform in Zimbabwe for all sorts of varied and good reasons.
My love for this song will never fade and my daughter has joined in and she is a 2018 baby😂😂😂.....my heart mellts and breaks at the same time because l play it while l imagine a good peaceful life in a fancy mansion while linen moonlight through the window this song on the background and finally "peace of the mind and spirit"😊😊😊
kkkk I remember one day I went to Siavonga in Zambia I arrived driving a zim reg vehicle I met a group of people who were dancing this song on a party they approached me to intemperate some shona words on this songs for them then i was given some meat kkkkk

Now we are the lost generation who were supposed to be liberated by the current regime. We had everything peace, tranquility, few problems here there ,but music like food speaks/brings people together. And Michael Lana’s was/owned a pharmacy at Montague shopping centre in Harare, as a kid we’d go and sneak peak at him , hey to my friends that’s the guy who was on TV singing, how time flies, miss my motherland they say if you forget where you come from you are lost forever.
True that! It is everyone's sentiment! When Zimbabwe was! And gone are all those days and everything with them! Before perversion and corruption! Perversion is the word! What do we have now ?!
Lots and lots of memories 😢, when Zimbabwe was good...21 January 2024 #stilljammingtheyesteryearballads
