Whenever this music video would come on TV when I was a child, it would give me a weird feeling of loneliness. A fear of falling into a hole like Alice and ending up in a strange world far away from my parents. Interestingly, my mother really liked this song and used to play it during our car trips on the road. Today, almost 3 months after my mom passed away, I unintentionally ended up here and find myself once again with those strange feelings. Memories of those car trips with my parents that will never happen again and the realization that I am now in a world far away from my mother, just as I had always feared.
This masterpiece is so underrated still gives everybody the chills. The darkness that the movie had from Tim Burton as the director gave out the perfect atmosphere for the movie and when you listen to the song it's just so good! Brings nostalgia from when we all listened to it when we were little

I did an amazing aerial gymnastics performance to this, I was battling depression and scared to do it because I didn’t like heights and using my muscles (because I’ve had knee injuries) but doing a drop from the air while the lyrics “I fell down” played made me feel like I was flying! It was such a huge deal for me to do that performance so every time I hear it I feel like I’m soaring and flying again 🥰🥳 This song means so much to many people I’m sure.
You know on reflection that Tim was a poetic genius by getting Avril to do this song. I mean yeah it's about Alice but if you pay attention to the lyrics it's also a reflection of Avril's life. A small town girl from a place that nobody could even point to, followed the white rabbit and yeah it would have been a headspin wondering how she got there and she would have been spinning out but you couldn't stop her either and she more than got by and turned herself around more than once. She found herself in wonderland, seventeen year old her certainly wouldn't have known it this was real but she survived.

I'm a 73 year old grandpa with two young granddaughters. I've never been politically correct, so 'female empowerment' has never meant much to me....until now. Two recent films have knocked my socks off, and brought me to the point of understanding what it means now. 'Alice In Wonderland', and Zootopia. Both have the same message of empowerment to young girls. I would encourage everyone to watch those two films, listen to the music from each (Zootopia has Shakira singing 'Try Everything'), and think seriously on it. IMHO, many can be helped with the message that you are not powerless, in fact, you can become warriors, and I don't mean the army. Personal power, confidence, and no more victimhood. Is it strange? yeah, but at this time, at 73 years old, these two films are at teh top of my fovorites list.

I did an amazing aerial gymnastics performance to this, I was battling depression and scared to do it because I didn’t like heights and using my muscles (because I’ve had knee injuries) but doing a drop from the air while the lyrics “I fell down” played made me feel like I was flying!
It was such a huge deal for me to do that performance so every time I hear it I feel like I’m soaring and flying again 🥰🥳

You know on reflection that Tim was a poetic genius by getting Avril to do this song. I mean yeah it's about Alice but if you pay attention to the lyrics it's also a reflection of Avril's life. A small town girl from a place that nobody could even point to, followed the white rabbit and yeah it would have been a headspin wondering how she got there and she would have been spinning out but you couldn't stop her either and she more than got by and turned herself around more than once. She found herself in wonderland, seventeen year old her certainly wouldn't have known it this was real but she survived.

I'm a 73 year old grandpa with two young granddaughters. I've never been politically correct, so 'female empowerment' has never meant much to me....until now.
Two recent films have knocked my socks off, and brought me to the point of understanding what it means now. 'Alice In Wonderland', and Zootopia. Both have the same message of empowerment to young girls.
I would encourage everyone to watch those two films, listen to the music from each (Zootopia has Shakira singing 'Try Everything'), and think seriously on it. IMHO, many can be helped with the message that you are not powerless, in fact, you can become warriors, and I don't mean the army. Personal power, confidence, and no more victimhood.
Is it strange? yeah, but at this time, at 73 years old, these two films are at teh top of my fovorites list.
