- Everything they touch do turn to gold because this comeback is E-VERY-THING! I did say that on a first impression, the MV left a much bigger impact on me than the song... but the song really didn't take long to grow on me! Immediately from the teaser, I was reminded of the iconic 'Lady Marmalade' era and after watching the MV, it only reinforced that impression! With a touch of Britney, some Gwen Stefani, basically very 2000* (thanks for letting me know in the comments ;) ) coded and I ADORE THIS! But even though this is an amazingly done throwback, they still managed to make this very KOL by mentioning their solo in here! You can tell that whoever worked on this must have either grown up listening and watching the clips I mentioned in the video OR made a ton of research for this to turn out this great! The MV was truly amazing and their diva persona could not be contained here which makes this whole thing even better! They truly are a force to reckoned with and they feel unstoppable at this point! It also look like they won't settle for 1 genre, style and so they reminded me a lot of 2ne1 and MAMAMOO in a sense? All of the girls have a different vibe but they work incredibly well together and as units and solo too! Just love them!

A lot of people keep pointing out how them being adults allows then to make this kinda music, but even more than that, I think it also has to do with Lee Hae-In, their director, being a member of their target audience. She’s a younger millennial and a former idol trainee. This isn’t some 40 yo man making music he thinks young women wanna listen to. She’s absolutely pushing music and imagery SHE and HER PEERS would want.
Gosh I totally see Haein working on this now that you mention it. She served so hard performing Irony on PD101. She has amazing sense in sultry cvnt concepts.

I love the art direction in this mv, it’s very Greek/Roman aesthetically which goes well w the Midas and Medusa references! Some of my favorite parts that visually represent these:
For Midas, there’s the overall expensive vibes throughout the video but I ESPECIALLY love the scene that looks like they’re literally eating precious stones and jewelry. King Midas was fueled by *greed* (which led to his golden touch backfiring when he accidentally turned his daughter into gold)
Natty’s spiderweb scene is very black widow/maneater like you said, and I think the Medusa references really add to that as well. You can spot Medusa’s head in a couple places in the mv (car hood ornament and gold coin) but there’s also the snakes and statues; I especially love the billboard scene because all the stone statues look like the audience to the performance (not so subtle implication of the fandom falling into their trap- which NONE of us are upset about lol)
I truly love this song and KIOF’s throwback concepts bc 90s-2010s pop and rnb was what I grew up listening to! Definitely the ones to watch in 5th gen

First of all, it’s like 2007-2010’s for me. The teaser gave me the CHEETAH GIRLS, which is my childhood yk. And when I first watched the M/V teaser I had the same feeling reaction like with IVE-Love Dive. THE BUDGET and the whole mythological think in both of them. Yeah, I was like 😮 throughout the whole song. The people say it's reminding them of early Kpop, which seems to be true from the cursory knowledge I have of that era, but I am more reminded of general pop of that time, and that is something I have nostalgia for.

The sound (to ME) is very Darkchild inspired so late 90s to mid 00s. ETA - Also has a New Jack Swing vibe mixed in. - but the look/aesthetic for me feels like the Lady Marmalade collab x Pussycat Dolls with a heavy sprinkling of Bratz. With their own flavour of course.
I love this TT and look forward to this era - hopefully it isn't too brief.
