- Learn how to organize your life (and your ADHD brain) with Lisa K. Woodruff of Organize 365.
Do you walk into a disorganized room and find yourself paralyzed and overwhelmed - unsure where or how to apply order? Do you repeatedly spend time and money on organizing solutions that don’t work? Do you put in constant effort but never feel organized? If you have ADHD and you’ve been struggling with organization, it doesn’t mean there is something wrong with you. It means it is time to start working with your ADHD brain, not against it.

I watched or read part of Marie Kondo's book. She talked about organizing with ease of STORAGE in mind. As a result, I moved my teas, and mugs to the cupboard ABOVE my sink. That way I can reach up, grab a cup, and set it inside the sink to pour water into it. I used to store these things above my counter, which is In a L across from the fridge and sink. Many more steps. Now, the sink functions as a "counter" for the adjacent fridge. There is no small counter between them. This is good for me because my hands can weaken and drop cups.
Thank you! In my experience, I feel the biggest preventers of organization have been: feeling one is limited, and fear of the change it will bring. Those are the things I’ve had to zero-in on for lasting success
I appreciate her focus on environmental and design factors in the home which can affect organization for today's lifestyles.
And the option/choice of actually making your home the way it works for *you*, regardless of convention.
Listening to this as I work. Will print the transcript so I can highlight the tips and make a plan. Thank you!
Where’s the transcript? In their page?
This presentation was EXCELLENT!!! So insightful! My one child has ADHD & my other child has ASD. And I think I may have undiagnosed ADHD, as now I am 40 and all of a sudden I can’t function without a pen, a notebook, & a list. The part about the Marie Kondo method, while I love her results… the entire process gives me an enormous amount of anxiety. I almost tried it and quickly backed out because I almost had a meltdown. Instead I did the 15 minute method, except I did it multiple times in a day. I picked 1 area (my desk) and set a timer for 15 minute intervals with 30 minute breaks for the entire day until I was done. And that worked beautifully. Then I was able to move on each day with a new area in my house to work on.
Dana k white has a “no mess declutter method” that is really helpful for this too. I love Lisa and Dana. Dana walks you through how to deal with one space a time in a stress free, efficient way. I recommend looking up her no mess method it’s very good, very simple
Thank you for the useful great tips and resources. I am a lifelong struggler of organization. After your podcast my life will be moving in a more organized manner!!
This helped me a lot already and i am already here a second time and it will help me more.
Very nice presentation. Ms. Woodruff provides goods examples and suggestions but also a useful way of thinking about getting organized that can make the job less daunting. Thanks!
This is extremely helpful material. A bit sad that the presenter said her program in only for women but I gained a lot just from this video thank you!
It’s not only for women, probably women still do the lion’s share in the home and the company is mainly staffed by women, but any of Lisa’s products and systems would work for anyone, she has systems for home and work.
She most certainly does not say this, she doesn’t exclude anyone. She might mention women sometimes but she’s absolutely never been like “no dudes!”
This is the best I've heard so far...
This is gold! I am so grateful for what you all do. It helps me a lot through my life after diagnosed with ADHD and I think my child might have it as well…
Thank you. Excellent presentation.
Presentation starts at 6:45. 6:45! (ADDitude could really use some ADHD-friendly video tips.)
Based legend kietro
Thank you
The audio quality of the additude people in this video is _shameful_ like y’all come on it’s your job to make freakin AUDIO why does this woman sound like she’s under a pile of gravel
While this content is wonderful and appreciated… the good folks at ADDitude build these videos in such a way as to suggest that they do not actually understand their target market in terms of how the process videos. One little change could help get these videos to millions… skip the preamble and cut to the chase.😊
Yes please 🙏
And FFS get your audio levels together. Lisa sounded great but the actual hosts of the episode sounded like they were on old Nokias in a submarine it’s so hard to listen to the additude lady
That's gold Jerry! Gold! Haha! Thank you for this!!! Sooooo helpful!!!
I feel a little bit better that it's taking me "so long" to work on my kitchen. I've been doing the one cabinet at a time and have invested in some pull out shelf organization (the object permanence thing is real). I have found that I actually do like to cook, but if I have to unstack or dig around to find what I need that motivation goes out the window so easy access to pans and tools is paramount. I have also done some major purging which is very freeing. The "paper dragon" is still one of my biggest challenges - I hold on to a lot of paper (because there have been times where it's come in very handy, for contracts or warrantees), but man it gets out of control SO fast.
Single most beneficial webinar
i love the separate sleeping and playing room.
I liked the part about the different aspects of executive function, but the solutions suggested do NOT work for me. Just make a list for every area in the kitchen, she said. Yeh that alone is SOOO confusing for me! I feel she's trying to apply neurotypical thinking and solutions to ADHD problems. If I could categorise things I would! Also, the Sunday box? LOL we know we'll forget where we put it, forget to put the scattered notes in it, forget to look at it on Sunday, if I do won't be able to decide which of those were "bad ideas", also I don't know if she meant we have to also add our things that we don't want to forget to buy too, for ex.? Confusing
Funny that just watched webinar which explained why Eat the frog etc DONT work for adhd
Thank you
The bagel with cream cheese being an 18 step process (more or less) is true for me …. Amongst a number of the others, but that’s definitely the hugest weakness… It’s brutal
THANK YOU SO MUCH ADDitude! I've been going back to your website once in a while for over a year or 2 now, and this is the first time I've actually chanced upon something that resonates and that gives practical guide for Decluttering!
Thank You Lisa, I've now subscribed to your Organize365 site!💗
50:00 DVDs get me in trouble because I am always saving them and other items to make things out of. So I have realized my "pending" art work needs to be all in one space, bin, closet. I collect items and then the art never happens (so far)....
And I thought it was just me...😢
I like to remind myself that these things are actually interfering with my ability to make art. I’ll tell myself I can keep them if I can sit down right now and make something with them. If I’m not willing to do it right now, give it to a women’s shelter bc they need craft items usually. I’m trying to be the same way with my “im gonna sell it on fb marketplace” stuff too, im like, ok then, list it RIGHT NOW or it has to go. lol it works sometimes
This talk sounded so good at first, but it's really hard to comprehend the second half if you don't have a traditional American home or exist in that U.S.-centric lifestyle. 😅
20:40 I had to make a canva for that
This video would be great except the length of the video and pace is difficult. I think this is the 4 or 5th time trying to watch this video cause I get bored and distracted even if i take notes to make myself focus on it.
38:00 don't try to do Marie KONDO METHOD. Don't take everything out at once.
I have to say, this actually worked quite well for clothes - but only when I had two bank holidays in quick succession
6 minutes 35 seconds of adverts and self promotion before anything useful comes out..
I'd say she made it known how highly she thinks of herself. Lol that's nice that her son went off to College~
Sometimes women like, respect themselves and are proud of their accomplishments… I guess?

I see more than 500 episodes not 29. Completely overwhelming. 🫤
I think you’re looking at the wrong ones dude, she’s got multiple podcasts, im at the end so I don’t remember which one she had mentioned as well as that up top, possibly the Sunday basket?
