I started my marathon over 4 hours ago. Marathon watching you hiking that is. I had to stop on the Armadillo to take a picture. I have always been fascinated by them. I have several made of brass.
I'm not sure if you are back in our area, but I won't make it to church due to the swelling, and bruising on my jaw, chin, and now down into my neck. My dentist said he knew I'd have a rough time during the healing process. I only sleep 3 to 4 hrs at a time and wake to take my pain meds. He has me on strong antibiotics too.
I'm loving the plants, wildlife, farm critters and the wonderful people you've met along the way. I miss backpacking, camping, and fishing the streams.
Ted popped in to watch a few minutes of you in Ireland. Later he asked, are you still watching Mike, I said yes, that you have 100's of vids on UA-cam.
Take care, and give your beautiful wife my love.
I love you in Christ. Hugs
Thanks Linda. I hate you’re not feeling good from your dental work. Get well soon. You’ve got to continue to take care of my buddy, Ted. 😁
I’m glad you’re enjoying my hiking videos. That’s the purpose of my Channel, so people can enjoy the trail without leaving home. Love you guys. 😁
I appreciate your informative videos, Rev. You've inspired me to hit the trails!
Thank you Molly. 😁
Thank for the great insights. Thinking of doing the Pinhoti soon, so it’s very helpful!
You’re quite welcome, @JoyfulRambler. I think you’re really enjoy it.😁
Hi Rev! Thank you for sharing your video and comments on our beloved Pinhoti Trail. Be safe and keep those vids coming, I really enjoy your channel.
🦉
Thank you Danny I thoroughly enjoyed Thruhiking the Pinhoti Trail.😁
*Not sponsored by Dollar General.😄 Great video, Rev!
Thanks. Got to love Dollar General.😁
Thank you Rev for the video. Always informative and enjoyable.
You’re welcome Esther. I’m glad you enjoyed it.😁
Good to see you Rev! Hope you are doing good and I’m looking forward to keeping up with your next hike my friend!
Thank you Jim. I’d love to see you again. And spend time with you. Maybe one day.😁
Another way for folks to research a trail or area is to consult guidebooks, available through your local library. You can even find out about trails that have been forgotten, or little publicized, so you may have a treasure to yourself!
So true! Thanks for the great info. 😁
Thank you for sharing your Pinhoti experience! I've been curious about this trail---really enjoyed your videos!
Thanks. It’s a great trail. You’ll enjoy it. 😁
Good to see you hiking share all the valuable knowledge, your experience. I deeply appreciate it! Hike on!
Thank you. I hope you enjoyed it.😁
Nice Officer that was called out to check on you! He said, “and I can tell you are neither.”
People just aren’t used to seeing hikers out there.
Also, I watched your full through hike of the Pinhoti Trail and loved it, as always!
Thanks Gabriel. Yeah, I’m just glad that the trail Angels, were willing to go out of their way and help me out.😁
Yes! Nice you had them. @@TheHikingRev
Good to see you Rev! Thank you for a great video 😊
You’re welcome Stephanie. i’m glad you enjoyed it. 😁
Hey Thanks again brother loving the info and keep on humping
You’re welcome Bill. I’ll try. 😁
Lots of good info here, so thanks. I'm planning a section of the Pinhoti later this year and your video series on that trail is proving invaluable.
Thanks Drew. I’m glad I can help. Good luck on your hike. 😁
Morning, Rev. How are you doing? Enjoyed the video. Hope you're not experiencing any effects from the tropical system approaching CA. Until next time... Judy from Missouri.
Hey Judy. The tropical storm is hitting Southern California now. I live in Northern California now. The San Francisco Bay area. All we get is fog.😁
Always like your videos, Rev. Thanks for them. :>)
You’re welcome Peter. I’m so glad you enjoy them. 😁
"Hey, you're the Rev!" 😆 Thanks for sharing the info, similarities and differences! Seeing you walk by from the hollowed out log was my favorite shot in this video. Lovely!
Thanks. I like that shot too.(though it was hard to climb in the middle of that hollowed out log).😂
Thanks for your critique on the Pinhoti. I agree, it would be a great train for the AT. Happy trails!
Thanks, Ruth. 😁
Thanks!
My comments were supposed to go here. Oh well. Hugs
Thanks Linda. You’re very kind! 😁
Rev is the man. If he can’t do it no one can
Thank you Mick. 😁
Rev, you always seem to see the upside and are optimistic: they are Opportunities (not problems, issues, etc.). One question - what was the best way you found to find trail angles - was it FaceBook, FarOut, etc.? Thanks again for all your videos.
Thanks. Mostly Facebook and from other Trail Angels. There’s a great network of Trail Angels. And also, comments on the Far Out app. 😁
I would like to add that thru hiking the pinhoti is rare and people in the area don't know that they should be kind enough to give a ride to a hiker.
Nice summary.
Thanks Michael. Hope you enjoyed it.😁
December just come in Kenya and enjoy the wildlife ❤
Thanks Genevieve. 😁
Great Vid - love hearing the comparison between the Pinhoti and PCT. Nice to see you! Any big hiking plans in the near future?
Thanks. Both are unique trails, and I enjoyed thruhiking both. It’s funny that you ask about future hikes. On Tuesday I start one of the most ambitious Thruhikes that I’ve ever attempted. I’ll let you know about it later.😁
@@TheHikingRev Really? I can’t wait!
Do you think the Pinhoti would be safe for solo women, minorities, LGBT? I haven't really been South, but its reputation is ominous.
Hey Karen. I can’t speak for everyone, but the majority of the people on trail and the trail towns were very acceptable of everyone. My philosophy on the trail is, I would rather share our similarities, (hiking, and the outdoors) than to focus on our differences.😁
Awesome channel ! I live in the Talladega National Forest near Cheaha Mountain… if you’re ever in the area again please hit me up , I’ll gladly give you a lift or anything else that would help you out. I subscribed tonight and am going to start binge watching your videos, take care . ✝️🇺🇸🤙🏻🅰️
Thanks. I will definitely take you up on the offer. I love that area. 😁
Hey Rev, I noticed that you do not have wrist straps on your trekking poles. Did you ditch them for a reason or only use them sometimes? Enquiring minds want to know, and when EF Hutton…err… I mean Rev talks….people listen, lol. TIA for any info on that.
The first thing I do when I get a new pair of trekking poles is cut the wrist straps off. They are so unnecessary. I noticed Andrew Skurka did it, I tried it, and have never looked back. 😁 It’s not a thing of cutting weight. They’re just unnecessary. IMHO. 😁
Greetings Rev. Have enjoyed your videos for some time now. Watching the Pinhoti series with some interest as I am thinking of maybe section hiking some of it as a shakedown hike for next years attempt at a thu hike of the AT. I am just a few years behind you in age and it has been on my bucket list, so next year it is for me. My question to you- Any interest in doing the AT?
Hey Randy. I’m glad you enjoy my videos. Great idea for a shakedown hike. Good luck on the AT. “So many trails, so little time.”😁
Hi Rev, I was talking to a guy who hiked the Pinhoti trail into the Benton McKaye trail. He said there was a lot of roadwalking as well as difficulties with dogs. Can you concur?
Gardener
I WHOLLY concur.😁
Hi Rev., in one of your videos you had a dog whistle that quieted dog barking could you direct me to where I could obtain one please I could sure use one now
Quess not
