Great video! This was my 11th KOH and it's always an awesome event. The other thing to recommend is bring all kinds of different clothing as it can be warm during the day and literally freezing at night. Also goggles (if in an open rig) and a face mask for the dust. Also, if you can, try to get media credentials. It opens up all kinds of different access to the races during that week.
Thanks in-part to your videos; I went ahead & grabbed a ZR2 in Sand Dune. Took it for a road trip from up here in San Jo & down to Pismo, then Santa Monica. Much smoother ride than my solid axle Jeep JL. These trucks just need 33s to look proportionate IMO … hoping to do an AEV kit for that soon. Good stuff as always!
Dude I forgot when it is. I think late spring. But they have some mad max type festival in California city. Every year I forget to make a run to go check it out.
Yea I don’t know the rules but I stayed away from anything crazy. I just fly super conservative to avoid any accidents. I don’t know what it’s like by the course. Helicopters would pass often so you could get in trouble. But again that’s why I just flew on the edge of the campsite. I usually take a computer and look for groups and offer to share footage if they let you record them. That usually at least let’s me fly comfortably without being reported.
@@420motors "Generally" you're fine if you do that but don't take any drones out on race day anywhere near the course. That will bring both the BLM and race organizers out since it's a hefty fine for operating drones during the race.
I heard from an official media person that two years ago I believe, Someone crashed a drone into a helicopter. No incident but yea. I’m never gonna do something to end up on the news.
Yea. You need all three honestly. Rv, friends, and a vehicle. But yea an rv and friends with extra offroad seats is the way to go till we get a trailer
Yea you can ride anything you like. In bikes or atvs even small utvs I would ride in groups and look out for traffic. The dust makes visibility pretty dangerous. Off Boone road in Johnson valley
We had a full fleet of flags and no mounting locations. Also no wind so all flags on parked vehicles just hung kinda flat and depressing. But definitely need to make something for flag mounts
Yea you can. It’s open desert so just turn in before or after main entrance for an alternate route. If you plan to camp or visit hammer town you will need to pay. But it’s open blm land in case your just watching and not using amenities.
Great video with wrong info. KOH has the permit to charge you at the entrance. It pays for numerous things that help keep that area open. Please don't be a cheapskate and try to avoid the $50 ticket.
Isn’t this event held on BLM land? If this is true I think our taxes makes it our land not the event organizers property. Besides this event tears the hell out of the desert out there. After everyone’s long gone that land looks like a moonscape void of life. I’m an off-roader but this is the excuse they used shutdown most of Pismo Beach. To many vehicles in one space ultimately tearing up the area. This will just provide ammo for the Sierra Club and others to shutdown off-roading out there for everyone forever. 50 bucks lol. If you want to charge money to enter Hammer Town fine but the whole desert out there? Some of us go out there multiple times a year not just 1 week a year. I don’t call it being a cheapskate I call it freedom of movement without fees. I pay a shit load of taxes and nobody needs to pay a cent more to be in the open desert.
It doesn’t cost 50 to camp. That’s for hammer town. You have wrong info. And I don’t think I can beat johns argument for why your philosophically wrong as well
@John Smith it is blm land but blm charges something like $250k for the permit . Also this event is the only reason this particular spot has not been shut down; they wanted to take it from us to extend military base years ago. $50 for an entire week of entertainment, Porto potties, and hammertown is well worth it.
Have they really tried to expand the bases. They seem more and more useless every year. Especially the target signs. Economic argument stands, but on principal it is our land. I think the ranchers in Texas being charged for grazing settled this argument

Aw your right. Honestly easy to guess how 75 percent or more if this crowd voted, but I wanted a mask lol. Too much dust. Solid points man thanks
Hey, that's me at 1:45. Happy to hear y'all had a good time out there🤙
The pure joy of a child. Nothing like it

Yea my bad. Should have sent a location from
The beginning
Thanks for the video. Good info. I’m going for the first time. Had no idea it was this busy.
Yea it’s nuts. Go for truck and people watching. Not so much for wheeling.
@@420motors it's similar to how Glamis used to be
Rad video man and you sounded high AF🤣

Hell yea man. I love that.
It's a lot like new years in NYC, everyone, everyone should do it once...
Wow, that looks like a lot of fun...it reminds me of burning man but for offroaders. Lol
Dude I forgot when it is. I think late spring. But they have some mad max type festival in California city. Every year I forget to make a run to go check it out.
I e heard it referred to as “ the gearheads burning man”
Definitely some hard core dudes out there
EXCELLENT VIDEO TELLING THE TRUTH 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks man
Great video
nice drone footage I wanted to bring all my fpv gear but I wasnt sure if it would fly with the organizers especially bc im not certified

Happy wife happy life and always say "Yes dear".

Lmao. Oh hell yea man
Nice video!!
Nice video. Seems that you need an RV to enjoy an event like this.
Yea. You need all three honestly. Rv, friends, and a vehicle. But yea an rv and friends with extra offroad seats is the way to go till we get a trailer
you don't I sleep in a tent for 4 days.
Yea done trips like that at glamis when I was younger. But that’s a hard sell with the wife.
@@420motors true.
I dont like wearing mask in this type of time but I would definitely wear one at this place lol 😆. With all that dust 🤧
Lol. We had the same thoughts all day. And actually desert fever is a legit threat that not enough people know about
Anti maskers get destroyed by COVID and this type of environment. Oh well, that’s Natural Selection for you.
How do u get there ? Can u ride atv there ? Next year for sure
Yea you can ride anything you like. In bikes or atvs even small utvs I would ride in groups and look out for traffic. The dust makes visibility pretty dangerous. Off Boone road in Johnson valley
Some things just don’t make sense to me.
Is this at Lake Havasu?
Where's the 420motors flag for the bus?

@@420motors have to wire it up like the "moon landing" lmao
Lol. Just needs double shadows and some prop rocks
Can't c it all 🤣KOH HUGE....PCI HEADPHONES N CAMPING HERE IT ALL
True. Actually hard to find a clear channel to transmit on safely it’s so packed. But yea sitting with a radio was fun should have mentioned it thanks
" OR BRINGING MY WIFE AND , HAVE HER STUCK WITH HER''.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Lol
Boy what a dust out.
Yea it was bad man. Shoot we decided to go on Wednesday and I put it out on telegram. Totally forgot to hit you up. Sorry man what a jerk
Crazy question but is there showers?😂 with all that dust 💀 imma die with a tent but worth it!
I didn’t see any showers. But if their were any I bet they would be gross af.
$20 showers were available when I cruised by hammertown.
Sweet
Love the "LETS GO BRANDON' flag at 0:58 !!!
Can’t believe so many people caught that. Lol
So you could go for free just to watch the race? I don’t want to pay 50 bucks lol
