I saw this last night and I loved it. The kills were definitely horror kills instead of action movie kills. Loved every second of it. I also loved how they also showed the whole community including descendants of Hannibal. My favorite part is him yelling with tears in his eyes at the villains before the finale...and the reveal about Dakota's character at the end warmed my heart.
Korey is right. Denzel basically a superhero Michael Myers. The kills in this are crazy. The street scene with the younger brother and the vineyard scene were wild asf.
As far as story and plot goes, this film is just about critic proof. Do you want to see Denzel be a badass and brutally murder bad guys? One ticket, please!
This was basically an old western like Fist Full of Dollars where a stranger comes to into town and helps the towns people to deal with criminals harassing the town. It was because Denzel’s charm when he’s interacting with the people in the town.
3 movies in…this is a pretty solid trilogy. Which is a trip cause when I saw the first one I never thought about 2 more being made. I’m not mad at it tho…Denzel x Fuqua are a dynamic duo.
I said the exact same thing, this feels more like a horror movie than it is an action movie. His mannerisms are more like the true boogeyman than John Wick
Agreed and that’s why you can compare the two but both still great films I noticed this from the past few films Denzel us know where near as fast as wick but his smoothness and precision with the brutality is what sets it apart it’s done so much slower yet brutal. You get time to take it in like wtf.
I haven't seen the movie yet but I must say it is amazing to see Denzel & Dakota Fanning reunite on-screen, Dakota & I are the same age and to see her all grown up reminds me how much I have grown 😆
I loved it. I really enjoyed them actually showing how he would operate in terms of infiltration, viciousness of elimination of targets. I've never seen that and the humanity of the character as well as the physical and emotional toll it takes before in a film.
Just saw EQ3. Saw it twice in fact. In Dolby Cinema & IMAX at AMC. This is as deep as deep can get for a final chapter. Fuqua for 25 years, no touch lost. The operative word is Balance. As an angel of justice or angel of death. McCall is a guardian angel nonetheless. Denzel as McCall the human being is wonderfully played. You got to see the man as much as you saw the beast. His chemistry with characters of the town's people is beautiful. Especially with Dakota Fanning and the later reveal of her role was so heartfelt. The final scenes kinda shook me in a way that felt real to me. Protect your peace and your happiness against those who want to take away from you.
The character is good for him. He's older so smarter minimal calculated action with good drama is easy money. And he fits so good in the foreign settings.
My favorite part of Robert’s action/tension scenes is how calm he is. All the bad guys are jumping up, reaching for their weapons, and Robert’s just “Calm down, guys. Chill. We’re not fighting. Trust me, you’ll know when we’re fighting and spoiler alert, you don’t want that, so let’s just talk this out.”
I've worked with many military intelligence men here in East Afrika and I can tell you that they are actually as dangerous as depicted in the Equalizer. They don't fear gangs because they have the state and military behind them. Some of the guys I dealt with were child soldiers, so killing is in their blood, but they are the most chilled out dudes you could ever meet and hang with, just don't cross the government or commit a crime on their watch.
Robert McCall is getting to Zatoichi levels of being forced to kill people, all it's left now is he refusing to help someone, not wanting to be in a situation where he has to kill people just to end up having to do it anyway due to a series of unrelated events putting him where he has to be, like what happened to Ichi in Zatoichi And The Doomed Man.
Denzel Washington, Antoine Fuqua‘s direction, the landscapes, and cinematography are pretty good and fun. But the plot is pretty direct to video basic, a whole CIA side plot that doesn’t amount to much, the villains are two dimensional, and the village are just people for Denzel to save. It has its moments, but I give it a fun high rental.
denzel and Dakota.....I believed that they were in a movie together...back when she was a little girl. Actually Marc Antony was her father and villian of the movie. Man on fire
Wow korey had my same reaction when watching this. denzels character comes across like a horror movie character like a michael myers the way he kills people and stalks them.
We watched this Sunday night and it was absolutely fantastic. There's no way this is the last movie featuring McCall they added too much potential new stuff.
Just saw it and really enjoyed it Setting is just gorgeous and makes you want to live there For the first time noticed his feet are probably as big as mine, haha As a stunt performer the fights are very well crafted A nice surprise 😎
I have heard and read about how brutal the Mafia is and that is probably why McCall's character was a brutal killer. I can watch anything with the great Denzel in it!
I was hoping the third, supposedly “final” movie would go into McCall’s background. Like why did he feel the need to leave the CIA the way he did? Also, what was he like in his prime? Also, would there be any long-standing grudges that’d be looking for McCall now that it’s pretty obvious he’s still alive?
I think he'd have killed anyone who he thought would target him already. Like they said in the review, he's proactive. Also going back to the 1st tv show in the 80's, we never learn much abut him, he's 'a man without a past'. An ex-CIA agent at his level wouldn't have many relationships.
When he saw that young guy with his eyes and that look you know omg he is screwed i couldn't stop laughing when that happen even some people in the theater were like omg shiit it's about to go down
Dakota Fanning and Denzel have worked together in 2004 Man on Fire and Equalizer 3. Feels right. Its like poetry as it feels like they met at the beginning of her career and finished at what seems like the end of his.
Think it was a 100 minute movie. Perfect length honestly for what it is. We don't have an IMAX theater but i used the"XD" screen at Cinemark. Great picture as usual. Very lovely places and shots
I think Denzel was like: "hey if Adam Sandler can take his mates on holiday and make a film so can I" I enjoyed the film. It was fun. I didnt like the first one too much .... this one was good. Hope it does well.
IMAX for $20? Good deal. I enjoy the movie. Not groundbreaking. Totally agree - beautiful town and women. You do have to suspend logic, physics and stuff. And the top mob guy has under 20 henchmen only? That is a small time mob boss… 😂😂😂. John Wick bosses have 20 guys in one room with hundreds more everywhere.

Best Equalizer film so far. Saw it last night. It’s formulaic, but enjoyable. The camerawork frames Denzel as like the Angel of Death in some scenes.
The cinematography was amazing in this film

The reviewers are haters 😂
We need a Denzel/John Wick team up movie.
Facts
Wick vs Equalizer vs taken vs Expendables
I once saw him kill 6 men in a bar with a corkscrew. A f@cking corkscrew.
Get Bob Odenkirk from Nobody in there too

The Training Day Sequel 😂
"Nobody dies easy. Nobody dies clean." Getting my ticket just on that.
Easily the best of the trilogy for me. 7.5/10. A little predictable and the pacing suffers a bit, but absolutely brutal and effective.
The Equalizer 2 review y’all did a couple of years back is still one of my favorites/funniest reviews from y’all 🤣
The Equalizer and John Wick need to be in Mortal Kombat 1. Ed Boon can make it happen.
Should’ve cast homelander as the villain for E3

The Italy setting definitely helped the film a lot, especially the parts at the beginning of him exploring the town and all that
