I’m not holding off for the 17. To be honest, it sounds like they are still trying to figure that all out. If they do make it slimmer and put Face ID under the display, I will give them a year to work out the kinks on that. I have a feeling there might be a few issues! I’ll get the 16 and revisit a purchase with the 18.
Actually they do if you've seen the chart shown in the video depicting the timelines of how the new display technology is planned for next few years signifies the fact that apple has the required technology well in advance to make say like iPhone 20 or so but just to boost sales as we consumers buy anything that they sell with apple logo its easier for apple to make minor improvements year after year and keep stretching those technology for many years as like 120hz display or dynamic island could've been given to us much earlier than planned !!!

Then there's the iPhone 18 followed by the 19... They're always getting better but the degree and importance vary by user per year which is why we upgrade as needed (or as desired). I have a 14 Pro. What I really want to see is 10 bit 4:2:2 HEVC recording in Log for maximum flexibility in post minus the huge ProRes file sizes. That's one reason I didn't upgrade to the 15. ProRes is still a bit unwieldy for a phone short of dealing with an external SSD that one might avoid using HEVC internal recording.
@@melgross Anyway It should have increased a long time ago and the current ones still only use 8GB, it doesn't even make sense for the iPad Pro with M4 to limit the RAM through software when its hardware has 12GB... and it should be 16gb anyway, 12gb is at maximum Ok, not good, and in few years it will be not enought, and it does'nt make sense for products should be durable...

I think a huge change will be a totally redesigned battery pack that will be very easy for a technician to replace--the old battery just snaps right off. That may meet the new EU requirement for easily replaceable battery packs.
I’m still debating getting the 16 pro max i have the 13 pro max and im still enjoying it. I dont take many pictures so i dont need better cameras and i dont see the reason to upgrade just for the Dynamic Island or a titanium frame. I need to see some real design changes for me to be excited about a new iPhone. I actually want a new one but they haven’t gave me enough reason to spend my money.
Seems like features that will be released in the next 5 years. Not all for the 17. I’ve done that too many times (waiting an extra year because “that” one would be so much better, only to see a light increment release of nothing.)

Yet, their sales keep skyrocketing every year. And here we are, following their strategy and buying their products like a flock of sheep 🐑 - myself included! 😅
Depends on your usage. For me, making photos with my iP15PM is a game changer. Only one photo that contains live and depth (for portrait) is a killer feature. And it defaults to 24 MP (saved) taken with 48 MP. And of course MetaFX upscaling and hardware ray tracing for gaming (WZM) and less screen dimming through better screen technology. And 8 GB RAM for Draw Things app. This lets me create Stable Diffusion images locally and offline on my device. Hopefully some of the next iPhones contains better cooling for even better gaming.
Still rocking iPhone XS, probably the best iPhone ever made and the only one to feature 3D Touch. I also have the 13 Pro, but don't like it. Too big and heavy and no 3D touch. I just can't get used to it. It feels like a downgrade apart from the cameras, which unfortunately have the wrong focal lengths compared to the XS. Will probably try the 15 Pro after the 16 comes out to see if I like it in terms of size and weight (as long as the price is right). Other stuff I don't really care for.
IPhone 16 lineup will be one of the most skippable iPhones since the iPhone xs or 6s. It feels like an s update this year. Also knowing how good the phone will be next year, I'm not sure who would actually pay for the 16 line up. Unless they have an iPhone 12 line up or older. Anyone with any of the iPhone 13, does not need to get any of the 16 and should wait just one more year I like the slim phone being 6.5 inches. It'll feel much better in the hands. But I have a feeling the 18 will come with a bigger size that's probably same or slightly more than the pro max size. I hope one day that all the phones do what Sony does and no one else and that's continuous optical zoom. That would be a game changer. Sony goes from 3.5x to 7.1x but if Apple can do something like 0.5x to 10x or 3x to 10x, that would actually be so great. 0.5x to 10x would mean less camera lens and that's better I think it's also time that phones stop releasing every year and they move on to every 2 years. Hope to see air pods pro 3rd generation next year, with more colour options. Hoping the watch ultra 4 comes in more colour options too
People don't use their phones one handed anymore. They consume youtube and other video contents on the phone so much that small screens are not making any sense financially anymore. So now we have crazy big slabs that we call phones, and that's all. End of story, move on.

Definately holding out for iPhone 17 Pro Max in 2025. And then upgrade in 2027 for their iPhone 20. There will not be an iPhone 19 in 2027 as it’s iPhone’s 20th anniversary . Just like there was no iPhone 9 & they went straight to X/10.

I upgraded in 2023 to iPhone 15 Pro. The thing is I upgraded from iPhone X, so it's 6 years cycle for me. And I plan to do the same: in 2026 I will get a battery replaced for $100 and then I will upgrade to iPhone 21 in year 2029. No reason to spend my money more often.
Wait as long as you can !!! i bought iPhone 14 promax 7 yrs after previously owning iphone6s so iphones hold up quiet well as I can very much say that even to this day my old 6s is usable compared to all other phones that was released during its time and also it had survived many hard falls as well may be with few scratches here and there which can be avoided with proper case or screen protector in place so don't rush into buying new phones and fall for any misleading hype as I know many people who had later regretted their decision after buying the new one without actually needing it !!!
Buy the 16 because these rumors like the smaller dynamic island and 12gb ram are not as appealing as the iphone 18 withouth the notch/dynamis island and 2nm chip, 5000mah battery, 165hz display and 4 cameras?. Waiting is the worst option.

More mega-pixels does not mean better photos. It adds more resolution to the photos, but it also reduces the amount of light to enter each sensor.

I have no plans to upgrade from my 13 Pro Max this year. Next year may be necessary do to the degrading battery.
U can also replace your battery and keep it till like the 19-20. All jokes aside iPhone 17 seems like it will be a great upgrade.
What I think would be cool is to do a plus and mini year swap. Odd years do the Plus even years do the mini. Push production down by 40%.

Really took them a long time to start making their own modems/wifi/bluetooth. They bought that division of Intel a long........ time ago.

Wait as long as you can !!! i bought iPhone 14 promax 7 yrs after previously owning iphone6s so iphones hold up quiet well as I can very much say that even to this day my old 6s is usable compared to all other phones that was released during its time and also it had survived many hard falls as well may be with few scratches here and there which can be avoided with proper case or screen protector in place so don't rush into buying new phones and fall for any misleading hype as I know many people who had later regretted their decision after buying the new one without actually needing it !!!

Buy the 16 because these rumors like the smaller dynamic island and 12gb ram are not as appealing as the iphone 18 withouth the notch/dynamis island and 2nm chip, 5000mah battery, 165hz display and 4 cameras?. Waiting is the worst option.

The fact that all these leaks are for the 17 and not the 16 is literal proof on how behind Apple is in tech, and still baffles me on why the Apple sheep are content knowing this.
