This is my Second Ramadan that I'm participating as a non-Muslim (joining my muslim bf) but it has taught me so many things. I've learned that if i can wake up at 4:30 AM every day to eat and drink I can wake up at 5 or 6 to achieve my goals. One thing that you said that stood out to me was "Non negotiable is setting your intentions for the day" and it got me thinking that... In Islam before you do wudu or pray you need to state your intentions out loud. I didn't understand why but I'm starting to realize that everything Islam teaches has so much purpose and worth that when you apply it to your daily life it can elevate it so much...

Hello there , May peace be upon you . There's a common misconception that you need to speak out loud your intention but it is not true ..intention is in the heart ..if you're conscious of what you're doing ..you're good to go

@@CelesteAnn Mhh... To clarify my boyfriend is Malaysian so there are cultural differences. Arabic muslims are usually more strict and the parents are usually less accepting i think (?).
I would say, for your own personal wellbeing, make SURE he is serious about you. Have him introduce him to your family. If he doesn't want to and if you haven't at least greeted them... be cautious.
TALK about things. There are many differences in religion and rules. Talk about things he would want you to do, put boundaries etc. I, for example, already told him that I like to wear what I want, so modesty won't be something I'll abide be even when we're married. He knows this and I've clearly stated by boundaries here.
But he asked me to not wear bikini's, and I've respected that request.
Just lots and lots of clear and honest communication. Talk about jobs, money, kids if you want those, roles of parents in their life after marriage, living situations, roles in the marriage. Wives!!! lmao just to be sure >.<
**And don't convert for him before he has proposed if u'r not sure about islam. Otherwise you're now stuck in a religion and he might leave you yk**

SubhanAllah this video is what I NEEDED to hear! In my case, I have been trying to come closer to Allah since forever but the minute I commit my first sin I stop working on this goal and tell myself "well now you're lost anyways"... and then this mindset keeps me paralyzed and stuck in a condition I don't want to be in for weeks and months...But your words totally make sense. I have to rewrite my story.

16:00 this reminded me of a concept in psychology called cognitive dissonance. It’s when your cognition doesn’t align with your action and in order to reduce this discomfort you try to change your behaviour so that it aligns with your cognition/identity. This Ramadan I started of rly well but felt short this second half still striving for the last few days though to do better,
A certain thing happened with myself and them and then I mentally just felt crap again, I understand it all comes down to me at the end of the day but they never help the situation
You have to be your best cheerleader in a situation like that. Even if you have to speak inwardly to yourself, speak words of encouragement, of love and appreciation for yourself. Envision yourself living the life You Want to live, the people (type of people) you want in your life. Concentrate on those things with intention, with belief that you can have and you deserve good things and good people in your life. Start there and encourage yourself Everyday. Build up your inner muscle and keep your heart soft and open for your own sake. One day you Will be able to live a different life and you want that life to be the Best you can envision it….🌹🌻🌹💃🏾💪🏾
