Amazing vid champ! I feel like we've been lacking this kind of easy to digest historical content in the creator space, so it's really cool that you took it upon yourself cause it's definitely a lot of work & research
What I mostly got from this video was: - Overlord favoritism REALLY hurt the clan in the long-run. - Unless you're a trigger sacker like Kai, you're going to have a bad time.
I remember when Narukami debuted and didn't really have its own identity as a clan (binding). It just seemed like Kagero 2.0, except Kagero (OG), got almost completely shafted after Narukami, not receiving meta-defining support until Dauntless Drive, Re-Birth and Nouvelle...
Us real Kagero fans stay coping thru the tough times 😤💯. Great video and analysis, honestly made me remember so many good times playing the clan. Your editing is really next level too!
Rookie here, I've always been interested in the meta history of card games, so me wanting a video like this one is an understatement. I hope you bring similar content explaining the rest of the clans since I got into this game with standard and I want to know more about the premium side. You my friend deserve my like and subscribe, great work.
Great video overall. I love content like this. As someone who played an unhealthy amount of Kagero up until quitting in V, I have two gripes. 1) No way in hell was Perdition one of the strongest decks when it released, either EN or JP. The effects were really cool and they were costed well. The problem was that every single one of them besides The Great had a timing issue when you weighed them against their competition. First, every scary deck's best play involved activating Legion that turn, which meant all of your retires were bound to let your opponent hit the four-card threshold. Your biggest opps at the time were Royal Paladin, Shadow Paladin (specifically Revengers), arguably Gold Paladin (Liberators), Spikes, Dimension Police, Yggdrasil, and Narukami (Brawlers). Royals and Shadows both had a super strong restand that could actually attack the Vanguard twice. Additionally, their Grade 2 removal (Blasters Blade and Dark) were better than Pain Laser at answering threats because they weren't locked to a column. How Blaster Dark Abyss got the best pop in the game up to that point instead of Pain Laser is a mystery, but I digress. Liberators had a super annoying Glory effect since Kagero could only answer it by digging for Triggers with DotG. All three Paladin clans generated more advantage than you had removal on average, while Shadows and Revengers both had better removal than you had threats. They could all make better use of their Grade 1 +3k attacker than you because their proactive plan was better than your reactive one. Their Grade 3s also had more threatening effects than Dragonewt because the timing made more sense. Dragonewt was most valuable burning your opponent from 3 to 4 to put then in crit range... then you just get PG'd. The Great could only dig for Triggers and relied on your opponent having a Rear Guard in the front. Liberators could threaten the same kill at 3 damage with a Glory effect and superior calls to offset card disadvantage. Phantom Blaster Abyss could threaten death by crit with the added benefit of swinging twice and was also better than either Perdition boss at the end of the game because its number of attacks mattered at 5 damage. The same principles apply to Thing Saver as PBA, with the one caveat that a Critical Trigger on a blocked swing had to go to the Rear Guard. Narukami is set apart from the rest of the clans I haven't mentioned yet by its removal-based strategy. It was simply better at controlling the board than Kagero. I wouldn't say it was a better deck overall because it only killed things and made big Rear Guards, but it was a really painful matchup that (like most) relied on having good rips from DotG. It was a lot harder for a lot of decks to recover from a sudden Brawler board wipe than Kagero's slow burn. It was also infinitely to guard. The non-Paladin, non-Narukami threats benefited from the fact that they could hold as many cards as they wanted until it was time to kill you. Spikes just had to Ride their Break Ride and all of a sudden, Kagero better be at 2 or less damage and have hand that's good at pushing damage or you were betting on a Heal to save your ass. Dimension Police was the same situation except they also had a backup plan of placing Laurel behind their Vanguard since you could only kill it with Dragonewt. If they ever went Sin Buster over Daikaiser, you had to sit there and pray. Yggdrasil was largely the same, but could throw Rear Guards at you a little more easily, thus putting more consistent pressure on you to transition into an early swing for 7 bazillion with a Glory. Tl;dr: Perdition was too honest to fight the ignorant threats of its time. The most successful version of Kagero for me at the time was Overlord with Neoflame and The Great jammed into it. It was nowhere near as good as The X would be in the near future, but Burnout was a really significant perk and it let the deck have a more flexible gameplan. Eternal Bringer Griffin was pretty good because the Overlord you discarded could be used for either Burnout or an early Legion if that was better. Calamity Tower Wyvern helped rotate your Grade 3s to fill your deck with Triggers, just like Perdition wanted to, except you always had Burnout as an additional use for your Grade 3s. Your best play was Overlord (played at 2 copies) into the The End (played at 3 or 4) to hit a 13k base and stop archetype Grade 2s. It could also do a (pretty bad) impression of Thing Saver. If you went into The Great instead, you either did it to hit huge numbers or you went into it early to prioritize Legions instead of a push. You'd break even with the Break Ride since you paid an extra card for the ride, but had to discard one less card. Admittedly, the extra utility in this build was not always worth it compared to Perdition, solely because Legion was really good for hitting big numbers and Burning Horn's +3k wasn't live until turn 3, whereas the Perdition +3k attacker was live turn 2. The one perk my build had over any Perdition build was that an 8/12 Stand variant was super, super funny and much more consistent than it could ever be in Perdition. 2 (finally!): Just a linguistic nitpick: by the time Kouen came out, we no longer had "a/the" Kagero deck. There had been variants with significantly enough differences that "the deck" did not exist. At this particular point in history, the Kagero decks worth playing were Overlord, Blademaster, and weird Hybrids like the super secret 12 Stand Blademaster/The Great deck using Rear Guards that got +5k when something was retired. Again, great video. Watching this awoke memories of many hours on CFA that I thought were worth analyzing. I stand by the assertion that you might as well just play Seekers or Revengers during the Legion Era if you liked Perdition, but also wanted to win. Edit: I forgot The Great and Break Ride Overlord did not work well together and remembered what I was actually doing.
It did definitely feel bad to come back to the game a year after taking a break only to find that Kagero hadn't gotten really any new toys. I left when Bi Attack was new and that was the last change I'd made, only to find nothing new when I got back
Amazing Video Gwen, and I don't just say that because I am a Kagero fanatic myself!! I keep going back and forth about what Kagero needs to compete in this day and age, and you basically said everything I was thinking!! Keep up the great work!
I honestly also think kagero should ditch the retire strategy. With narukami becoming the removal king, I think kagero's retire has no place in the game. Retire is just so low impact now overall.
goodness what a great video, I love these video essays, and I absolutely adore that there's people out there with enough love for the IP that they're willing to do research and put effort into making it a proper video. We might be small, but we exist regardless!
Really amazing video! Really enjoyed! I recently started getting in to Custom Vanguard cards, I definitely will be using this video as consideration for my support concepts, as there is a lot to think about and ways to do it
As a kagero main since GBT01 i agree with most of the video, also you forgot one final nail in the coffin for kagero premium in Bracing Angel Ladder (i was really really close to quit the game when that card was revealed) punish the entire deck if it doesn't revolve around powering up overlord and shuting down 95% of the G Zone, if you add to that the majority of the cards ask for an empty field or to retire something, it becomes a death sentence if played against kagero (some really strong decks can search it like gear, granblue, etc and that makes their turn for a kagero player to Damage Check OT or or have multiple Honolys active or die and even if they survived by the OT, their next turn most of their g zone is vanilla against Ladder for the same reason so if you aren't playing Overlord, you'll have to pray to kill them that turn with a mediocre turn, at least narukami has a work around that card with certain g3 from D). Another thing that they could do to reduce the huge minus that kagero has to pay for their cost as most of the cards ask for discard, they could give them a V version of Halbe that doesn't ask for Overlord vanguard (that could boost the efficiency in Dauntless V as a card) for it skill. But yes, with the Death of V support (let's not count the cyclers Promos which of default, Kagero will have always the worst of them) it doesn't have access to new rear-guards because most of Dragon Empire D cards are hyper xenophobic and even when Overlord is in D, it's rear's are pretty lackluster post DBT08 onwards.
@@jacobjensen7704 the g1 dog from V (lost gear dog, eight) can search any grade 3 *card* from the deck at the cost of revealing a g3+ from hand when placed on rear from hand.
What Kagero needs right now is rear-guards and G Units that treat occupied RC as open RC. No retires, makes the rear-guards a mere illusion... a heat haze, if you will. (Kagero means "heat haze")
Unnecessarily expensive AND the worst promos by default for Kagero. Like... give us simple tools that punish the opponent whether they have a fill board or not.
I have been talking about this for a long time and a lot of my points are repeated nearly word for word with what you say in yours (I dont know about premium stuff though) however this video was wonderfully put together and I cant wait to show it to my friends so they know that it is an actual problem and that Im not just making it up. (Varga is a heavy 1 for 1 deck with its rearguards that retire for hand power and it makes me really mad) ( I also hate how Dragon Empire has turned into a deck that retires so many of its own cards when it cant afford to replace them) I also really love Bavs even though the color is blue in Dragon Empire which throws me off a little but it had so much promise just to be burried and completely forgotten about. I would really love if you would cover why dragon empire is currently bad in overdress as well. All in all great video looking forward to more
You share my thoughts! When Lawkeeper came out, I started cooking. I found that I was lacking in quality rear guards, a finisher, and always find myself with not enough cards in hand. I basically found that I could replicate with 2-3 cards what Narukami could do with 1. The solution I came up with was similar to yours: give Kagero better pay-offs for emptying your opponent’s board and a finisher G-unit. I don’t even hate Kagero’s G-zone. Barakat and Dumjid are good when your opponent doesn’t have a field (one is better when they’re at lower damage and one is better when they’re at higher damage). Zanbust is better when they have a big field. I just struggle to close out the game. It’s hard to play the control game when I don’t draw any cards 😅
@coleevans8763 still gimmick at best. The deck is complete dog shit till you draw best harvest and still can't close games cos the finishers outside of overlord are dog shit. Even overlord is a gimmick. It also doesn't fix that narukami outright out classes all non overlord decks in every way.
@@coleevans8763 someone didn’t read what I wrote. What Kagero can do with 2-3 cards Narukami can do with one. Stunverse by itself can nuke a board, graveyard, and draw cards.
We get it, Stunverse is a well designed card that naturally highlights the clan it was designed for. Stunverse also got restricted to ONE because even other decks couldn’t keep up with the power scaling. And I would say that was the result of binding the drop in addition to the rest of the card effect overall. Stunverse doesn’t even apply that much pressure until later in the game thats why you would play multiple. The second is what kills the opponent because they can’t do nothing and it spirals out of control too quickly. The reason stunverse is better than every Kagero stride in a one on one comparison is because it is a stride unit inside a clan that is well supported. Between the best control outside of the lock mechanic, and a skill that is based on resource management and manipulation of it, all while calling a g-unit on an accel circle. It’s it literally a restanding g-unit without the extra drive checks while board wiping, drawing, and ripping cards out of the opponent’s hand before the “multi attacks”. Other than that it’s just zanbust without a power boost for draw power. It’s only when you get to play multiples that is becomes too much. Of which I would argue play best harvest or go into purge for a 5 drive check and bank on OT for more draw, same with Barakat. But yes I get it YOU WANT something that does EVERYTHING: retire, draw, apply pressure, rip cards out of hand like stunverse. Before the limitation of stunverse that’s almost all you did because nothing else really mattered. It does too much for nothing in a deck that turbos binding cards. And with the removal of clans, anything Kagero gets in d-series will be for the nation. So Nurakami is always gonna stay above Kagero unless Kagero itself gets a boost. And they banned our card ripper - Dragon Knight, Nizari because overlord can turbo it especially with the grade 2 overlord promo. Someone in the comments said it best Nurakami came in and stole the show. Quite literally Kai turned to Nurakami twice! Even has the same archetype - Dragonic! Blademaster became the symbol for Kagero and they failed! Even now with the errrata strides for Blademaster they barely compete with overlord. So Bushi decided to run back to Overlord and they continue to repeat this! Overlord with forever be the face of Kagero! Until they give more support to us instead of Blademaster I will continue to watch them fail. Hell they could make Seals better too. The new V-Kersey showed me that. Retire, draw or card rip! Made me play Blockade in overlord for more force markers before rebirth. All they needed was fix the superior ride line for blazing flare so we could pay the soulblast 5. FUMBLED IS ALL I HAVE TOO SAY ABOUT BUSHI!
My favorite clan and I definitely agree with you. I hope Kagero can get back to what they once were before and remains there throughout the test of time.
First time here, this video was very I cool! See the history of this Clan was very interesting, my favorite Kagero deck was Perdition, I start to play the game in the legion era
Everyone keeps saying that dauntless x the end was a 3 stand attack, but couldn't you let through the first attack and block the second and in doing so stoping the third?
Kagero was the deck that got me into the game. Fire, dragons, Kai being similar to Zane from Yu-Gi-Oh GX, what's not to love? I got in during G Era and stayed with it into V, despite how pricey it got. It really makes me sad to see how far the deck I loved the most that made me love the game has fallen.
As a Kagero main and still am. I couldn't agree more about this video. Kagero best deck right now is just Lawkeeper. Since thats the only deck that can survive longer then the others which is sad... They need to give Kagero more Gift removals since retiring just doesn't feel that much anymore
I would use Exotic Dragnal Armor but it's an Obscure Promo and is Overlord Based if you want to Deal 2 damage instead of 1 by it's effect Edit: It's ability is as so [AUTO](VC)1/Turn:Trigger effects do not activate for the damage check by this effect. When this unit attacks, COST [Counter Blast (2) & Soul Blast (1)], if your opponent's damage zone has four or less cards, choose one of your opponent's vanguards, and deal one damage. If you Soul Blast a card with "Overlord" in its card name for this cost, and your opponent's damage zone has three or less cards, deal two damage instead of one.
Back when I played V. I slowly started to notice how my friends decks were simply out pacing mine, and constantly found myself on the back foot unless I hit multiple triggers. At first it was kinda meme worthy but it just became pitiful. Kagero is so Vanguard reliant it not only needs power, but crits as well to build proper pressure. Then their is the hand problem. I would start my G3 turn or second G3 turn only to see my opponent have 15 cards in hand to my 7 or 8 not allowing me to survive unless I hit a lot of triggers, if I did somehow survive they would have even more cards in hand. Retirement is a cool effect but for the cost you pay it’s generally not worth it when they already have one maybe two more copies already in their hand. Kagero is a clan that really wants to sack things and ramp up the pressure, but crumbles instantly when it gets pressured back. Their just aren’t good enough tools to deal with the card advantage difference other clans can put out.
Honourable mention to the Eugene/Nizari deck in premium that managed to both break the Overlord mold the clan has and also be legitimately a top tier deck before Boshiroad nuked it.
I play kagero both the X and Re Birth for V premium, and I agree with everything u have said in this video, its kinda sad that bushi is giving up on v premium, however if there is a chance, bushi can convert cards like the ace, legend, purge, destiny into V, with supporting cards as well. However this is probably highly unlikely as DivineZ is taking the spotlight.
Great Video! 🎉 Dragonic Overlord the X is one of the most iconic decks for me in my time playing Vanguard. Its sad that Kagero doesn’t really have the right identity these days. I don’t like these aggro kagero 😡
I think the main problem is that Bushiroad has no concrete direction for Kagero support other than the usual of retirering reaguards, plusing off of retire and plussing on restanding g3 vanguard attacks. Compared to other Dragonic Epmire clans that got way more interesting in terms of direction or just did what Kagero was already doing, but without the classic Kagero issues of having weak RGs and smaller hand for consistency and extra drive checks.
Agree, this is why Narukami strife and Kagero falls, because overlord IS Kagero and VG too focus without and good power up/finisher. They need a new proper identity since boardwiping belongs to Narukami now (and narukami gain from bind). If they want to make VG focus, I feel like they need to release a stride or new updated grade 3 that nuilify trigger effects.
That wouldn't help. They either need to make a busted overlord wich us probably not healthy or good rear guards. Probably a mix of both since kagero honestly lacks good strides which really lowers it ceiling. The biggest problem is honestly lack of card adventage that modern v and premium decks have. A 6 card hand is considered big in kagero, which really sucks by other clan standards. It's really hard to live through the average turn from any other deck. Kagero is a class cannon without the cannon.
What I mostly feel is that they should give kagero a good quality stride that not only gets you started but also helps you give out pressure because most strides do either of those but not both and also it needs ways to get back into the game if it ever gets destabilized
The progenitor dragon is a really good first stride, so is Barakat, dumjid, zanbust. But yes something like a retrain of ace without gb3 and/or overlord centric support. A new legion mate would be nice for the Great since you can’t use the X to copy the legion version of itself. Doom bringer High flame Destiny Maybe some overlord cards with rearguard skills to make turnabout better Superior ride Iron tail dragon Gatling claw dragon Or maybe a grade 4 in deck overlord for spherical lord dragon Yes I know Kagero has solid g guardians but Better g guards for vanguard attacks or multiple rearguards Something for constant restands like d series the end but more and completely unlike the rebirth that cripples the rearguards. Dekat is great but very reliant on the end. Honestly just needs to get a crest like Revengers 😂😂
Honesty its been the worst clan imo since g when it comes to premium. Its had one small revival with the v support but that was really short lived. The problem with kagero is that when g rocked up its core mechanics didn't evolve to keep up with the current game play. G era introduced lots of card adventage to the game with alot of superior calls and draw power to the point where modern premium decks can easy get to 10 or more cards in hand. This really counters kageros retire abilities as its got way less impact. Whats worse is with the amounts of card adventage its really easy for a deck to draw lots of pgs and heals for g guardians to easily guard kagero's powerful restanders. Which leads to the other problem. Lack of modern pressure and general card quality. Kageros is a vanguard centric clan that 80 percent of its offence comes from its vanguard. The vanguard usually being a very simple restander, which usually isn't that strong to other clans going multiple rear guard attacks. As i said overlord can be stopped with pgs and thats your turn over. Quantity of attacks is now better then quality. What makes matters worse is for some reason kagero hasn't got the modern card adventage of other clans. A 6 card hand is considered big in kagero, which is usually a joke in other clans. Kagero has trouble surivivng an average turn while strong decks can casually stop kagero. Kagero usually does well in low power formats but as bushi power creep they just doesn't seem to power creep with the clan that well for some reason.
Great Video Man! It’s my goal to make videos like these in the future, and I like to think I’m getting there with each deck analysis video but I’m happy to see this kinda content from you! Keep up the good work! (P.S. Bummer you didn’t put our Premium tier list video in the OP skit😂)
I think the funny thing about it is kagero knew what it wanted to do but always got like bodied by cards that gave resist or more cards that just spawned boards for free so it had to focus on restand for vanguard which Is fine till u realize all rearguards are prep for the vanguard leaving the hand as defense most of the time instead of calling cause what’s the point of calling if set up already there so u left with this retire restand clan but that can’t handle what most other decks can just put on field and gain by like having a identity with out relying on the opponent man feels bad
22:55 I would have to respectfully disagree I think kagero's problems can all be solved with just 1 card and that would be a Crystalluster clone. With the crystalluster clone you could just copy the X's abilities and legion with the end since G units are able to legion that would put the G legion at a 41k base which is already insane but since legion is 2 units sharing a circle Force 1 would give both units +10k which would give the G legion +20k leaving it at a 61k base so that's at minimum 3 61k vanguard swings your opponent needs to guard against. But let's now take account dragresidence. Like you mention in your Kagero deck profile dragresidence would give the legion +20k when it restands just like force 1 leaving the G legion at a 101k base on its last swing. Another I would like to mention is how this solves the hand advantage problem Kagero has like you mentioned at 11:07 since the X is the one doing the restanding it is technically not losing any drive checks. With the G legion this would mean 3 triple drives which would help use tremendously in hand advantage. On top of that this would make Bunrise Dragon a LOT better since like you mentioned at 24:29 it has a a better high cost since it discards and kagero has pretty bad hand advantage but the 9 drive checks the G Legion would have would basically solve this issue since it allows us more cards to discard which we could just shuffle back with the legion. This would allow us to use Bunrise more often and when you factor in dragresidence bunrise could possible reach a 60k 3crit base. You could then use the grade 1 conroe to countercharge. Also since the cross is always regarded as having 0 cards you would never need to discard for the D pgs which further helps you save on card advantage. Like you mentioned before the G guard fodder promos could also allow Kagero to access Denial and Defeat flare faster. Not to mention that all these card are searchable with the ride fixer and the grade 0 conroe. And since you can use grade 0 conroe's pretty early one in the game it would save it from being snipped like most other forerunners plus it gives the deck extra searchability. This isn't evening taking account for the Crystalluster gb3 which would make the opponent at MAXIMUM need to guard with 15 cards a turn. This all would make Kagero fucking unstoppable in my opinion. Anyways sorry for typing so much and great work on the video it's honestly one of the best vanguard videos I've seen in the while.
So the main reasons I didn't mention or suggest a Crystaluster clone is: 1. It's a lazy idea; Removes the uniqueness of the clan from being the premiere retire clan into "How can I most optimally abuse this stride" just like Royal Paladin atm. 2. My goal was to make the clan able to have multiple viable builds and have a good foundation for the future. Crystaluster polarizes the clan into what abuses it the most because if they ever print something stronger than that then there is a HUGE issue. Which this would just always make Overlord the best Kagero variant. Sure the meme of "Overlord the Clan" is fairly true but the other archetypes are cool and deserve something which this card doesn't accomplish. 3. If Kagero had this card and it ever became too strong (which a card that says 3 card guard restrict, swing 2+ crit, swing 3 times with vg, and be minimum 40k per swing with 9 total drives i would say is really strong) This card would become VERY ban worthy. Then if it did get banned then we are back to square one. This type of card makes the clan very polarizing, straightforward, and boring. There are many other routes you can take to fix Kagero to keep it interesting and return back to it's roots, and I firmly believe this is the worst option.
@@deckflare3770 Fair enough. I was more of thinking how can we make it stronger but those are very good points. I think some other good ideas would be a card like v series kinarius which both has good offensive and defensive capabilities like a 1/turn ability to retire a rearguard when placed on van/rear/guard. I think a must is a g unit that shuts off Cont abilities of opponents units like how v ezel scissors shuts off auto abilities since the whole Regelia all units cannot be chosen or affected by card abilities makes the whole retire game basically pointless. I think another idea would be this unit gets +5000atk/5000shld for each of your opponents rearguard circles without a rearguard and if they have 3 or more without they can’t guard with grade 1 and if they have 5 or more they can’t guard with grade 1 or lower. This wording could also help kagero profit off locked cards since while a card is on rearguard it isn’t a rearguard. This can help especially since Chaos breaker is well ya know Chaos breaker. Maybe we could get a history collection card like with Vortex desire for the legend where you flip 1 and get 2 gifts and the when the attack hits goes off automatically. Another one is like how the destiny can put all cards on one circle into the drop zone we can just have a card that just nukes gifts but ya know with less of the cost with blazing flare since link joker just got flip a g unit nuke all your opponents gifts.Or a seal dragon freeze ray variant when a card is called to rear by a ability this gets 5k. I’ve been tinkering with fan cards for Kagero for a while now since as you can tell from my profile the clan means a lot to me. Anyways thanks for the feedback and keep up the great work man!
That is a darn shame. i kinda wanna try premium, but i want to build kagero the most. i guess the best im gonna settle for if i do is just meme sack with overlord, not that i min, but some variety would be nice. i wish lawkeeper and blademaster were better.
Idk if dis is broken, but if they add cb 1 to purge's cost , den add a line: dis unit gets all the abilities of cards wif overlord in its card name in ur soul until end of turn i mean u draw 7 on purge turn or less early game, but is draw 7 too good idkk
With that skill. It means you can get Legend and the End skill. Which means you can drive check for 12 or more with a total of 3 or more restands on the FIRST stride. That's not a good idea for the format back then lmao
@@asefbodlox1859 now dat u mention it, it is very broken, i jst hope they revamp the purge somehow so it can get a deckset, cause as of rn its not gd n expensive to build
Im very sad kagero was my first clan an ive been trying to make it work and the game is just so fast and defensive while being g3 otk lethal its just hard to keep up in anyway
@@deckflare3770 I said legion using perdition emperor dragon, Dragonic overlord the Great off of V-series The X skill. Then next turn you use The X skill again to copy The End to attack 3 times in legion state because you get 20,000 power off the force 1 marker for riding into The X. I never said anything about the X being able to copy itself, unless you are referring about me saying that they could have made the skill different and if so it was a different comment entirely.
Narukami just does almost everything kagero does but better. Better strides, better rears, arguably better field control. It's a rough time that doesn't seem like it'll be fixed anytime soon either.
Problem is most clan got a lot of draw engine and consistency to play control or finish your oppon. Plus, Kagero cant recover resources back like other clan. Without standard hybrid, Kagero is like a joke. Last time I see kagero in meta is Eugene Nizari combo. Hope bushi to banlift that combo.
You obviously never been handtrapped by Lawkeeper or had your markers removed by Blazing Flare or were OTKd by The X End on turn 2. Or played LJ just to have Rebirth thank you for locking its rgs and have a laugh that CBD himself would be envy. And im not even gonna mention the strides. Pretty far from worse.
Rebirth auto loses to Link Joker due to mid battle phase unlockers… I also play all of these decks. Lawkeeper chain retires 1 time and auto loses afterwards cause they have no resources. Kagero strides in the context of the rest of the deck doing nothing, do not provide enough to help the clan. Your win con is dragveda on barakat, dumjid doesn’t do enough, and everything else sucks. The deck’s best stride is the legion
Simple: power creep and negligence. Kagero was always good out the gate from the games inception. Kagero only got better throughout the years due to its pseudo-mascot, Dragonic Overlord. Sure, other variants and build in Kagero had their niches, but none held a candle to Overlord's legacy. Over time, and especially after G-Era, clans that were neglected good consistent streams of support got juiced, and the strategy that Overlord had on the table quickly got swept off. It's heartbreaking to see a strategy like Overlord rise over the last decade+ and then take a nearly straight vertical plummet to obscurity.
Kagero retire and vanguard centric playstyle need an overhaul, and for god, shake an actual amazing stride for once. Kagero strides have always been mid at best to complete dog shit
I’ve been non stop playing Kagero since December, and have been playing the clan since the start of the game. Can you elaborate on what you mean? I assume you think the clan is strong right now?
Hi I'm from PR and also been playing the game since day 1 and only play kagero in tournaments and playing right now a build of lawkeeper in premium really defensive with the grades 2 and 1 from blademaster v and searh for a lot of cards an almost always have full fiel for lawkeeper

@@deckflare3770 I think this a bad video. Tachikaze is far worse but anything for clicks right
What I mostly got from this video was:

- Unless you're a trigger sacker like Kai, you're going to have a bad time.
Plot armor is a requirement ig
Plot armor was DEFINITELY how Overlord stayed an effective strategy for over a decade
Narukami came in and became the spoiled child.
Mystery solved.
I love both clans lol
Us real Kagero fans stay coping thru the tough times 😤💯.
Great video and analysis, honestly made me remember so many good times playing the clan. Your editing is really next level too!
im pretty sure angel feather is telling kagero to hold it's beer
The TL:DR could also use a TL:DR 💀
Lack of good rearguards. That's what it comes down to. Even dimension police, which ostensibly is about that center column, has great rearguards.
Thanks Fuzzy 🥲 this video is for us Blademaster Copers
How does Gear Chronicle search it?
@@jacobjensen7704 the g1 dog from V (lost gear dog, eight) can search any grade 3 *card* from the deck at the cost of revealing a g3+ from hand when placed on rear from hand.
What Kagero needs right now is rear-guards and G Units that treat occupied RC as open RC. No retires, makes the rear-guards a mere illusion... a heat haze, if you will.
(Kagero means "heat haze")
@@jacobjensen7704 lost gear dog eight
Unnecessarily expensive AND the worst promos by default for Kagero. Like... give us simple tools that punish the opponent whether they have a fill board or not.
Kinda curious if there'll be a "How Narukami became one of the best Clans" video at some point given how Kagero's fall coincides with Narukami's rise.
Loved this style of video! looking forward to the next one!
I totally forgot about narukami. It also just does most of what this clan does, but it's better.
Try best harvest
That was a dope video! I look forward to the next one!
Really good video and nicely edited. You made a lot of good points on what its currently lacking
that DDD - Varga idea is so cool, i can't wait to try that
My favorite clan and I definitely agree with you. I hope Kagero can get back to what they once were before and remains there throughout the test of time.
I'd love to see a video like for the Tachikaze clan
I see your a person of culture as well.
First time here, this video was very I cool! See the history of this Clan was very interesting, my favorite Kagero deck was Perdition, I start to play the game in the legion era
I would really like to see an updated list or see what you think we should run in Kagero now that we got a couple more sets and a promo.
The way Saori Fuchidaka's VA pronounce MBudi
I would use Exotic Dragnal Armor but it's an Obscure Promo and is Overlord Based if you want to Deal 2 damage instead of 1 by it's effect
Edit: It's ability is as so
[AUTO](VC)1/Turn:Trigger effects do not activate for the damage check by this effect.
I'll comment to support your algorithmn m8, great premium video!!!!
Kagero identity were already lost since G era. Thats why we called it "Good stuff Kagero".
Honourable mention to the Eugene/Nizari deck in premium that managed to both break the Overlord mold the clan has and also be legitimately a top tier deck before Boshiroad nuked it.
Ouch. This’ll break a Man of the Big Red Dragon’s heart.
I have been saying this ever since v and d was introduced
I have been saying this ever since v and d era started
Vanguard content is getting better
Doom bringer High flame
Destiny
Maybe some overlord cards with rearguard skills to make turnabout better
Superior ride
Iron tail dragon
Gatling claw dragon
Or maybe a grade 4 in deck overlord for spherical lord dragon
Yes I know Kagero has solid g guardians but Better g guards for vanguard attacks or multiple rearguards
Something for constant restands like d series the end but more and completely unlike the rebirth that cripples the rearguards.
Dekat is great but very reliant on the end.
Honestly just needs to get a crest like Revengers 😂😂
Kagero maybe in her flop era but I still love her! She's still so aesthetic 😍
Me personally I hope we get a Nova's Encounter "preferably Victor" and the 1 I know isn't going to get is Sanctuary Guard Dragon for the Daigo hype
Great vid! Can you do one on Tachi or Narukami Please...
Tachi love!
So the main reasons I didn't mention or suggest a Crystaluster clone is:
Amazing video bro!
I played Kagero at one point but then i stopped after D series is introduce
injoy the new sub i like your videos keep up the good work
Even if it's the worst in most eyes, I'll always be a Kagero Main.

Oooooh I would have STUFF to say about that haha.
As a kagero main it's so sad we fell off so hard 😢
Whenever I see a tier list I wanna start throwing hands 😂
Yo its sad when I start playing against heal guardians

Kagero or Overlord the clan?
No its not lol! Kagero is part of DraEm now. Varga Dragress, Overlord, Eugene, Gandeeva are all oppressive decks. New Gaiandora too.
Im very sad kagero was my first clan an ive been trying to make it work and the game is just so fast and defensive while being g3 otk lethal its just hard to keep up in anyway
The answer to that question is simple
Use V-X to Legion with the great and then use the X skill again to get the end’s skill
Once Per Turn is it's effect.
@@Lucentisthat is obvious, you use the skill next turn. You just happen to still be in the legion state.
@coleevans8763 You can’t use V-X to become Legion X sadly since they are the same name
Oh I read it wrong lol, this still just seems worse than what the deck is already doing. It’s funny as hell though!
Narukami just does almost everything kagero does but better.
Better strides, better rears, arguably better field control. It's a rough time that doesn't seem like it'll be fixed anytime soon either.
More multi attack too
Aside from countering link joker with The Destiny, there's not much power benefit
Rebirth auto loses to Link Joker due to mid battle phase unlockers…
I also play all of these decks.
Wrong, Lawkeeper Works
Deck list?
List for what ☠️
Kagero retire and vanguard centric playstyle need an overhaul, and for god, shake an actual amazing stride for once. Kagero strides have always been mid at best to complete dog shit
because Kai is no more
I'm a Lawkeeper main in premium and disagree with almost everything in the video
I’ve been non stop playing Kagero since December, and have been playing the clan since the start of the game. Can you elaborate on what you mean? I assume you think the clan is strong right now?
