  • Earlier in the year, we had patched a section of our septic line that had been broken and infiltrated by roots. In this video, we get around to replacing the whole line using schedule 40 PVC. To seal the pipe going into the cement tank we used Quickcrete hydraulic water stop cement. The Harbor Freight backhoe trencher made quick work of digging through the roots and rocks to get to the pipe.

Glad to see the HF trencher/backhoe is working out good for you. I've had mine for 3 years and it just keeps on going. I'm in the process of building a farm pond with mine. Good luck and keep the video's coming.

Great video. Do you have a video of how you made the extra wheels- set-up?

@@stickwallfarmI got to say I was very hesitant on buying a Harbor Freight backhoe but you all make it look so damn easy and also with the mods you did it is nothing shy of amazing.

Thanks! You have inspired me. I may use that design and swap out the square stock with round. I hope to be able to rotate them out of the way instead of removing them. I already have the extra axles from HF. The genius is the simplicity. Nice. @@stickwallfarm

@@wsm6148 just fyi I tried round tube on the top in my first iteration. Was great because you could swing them out of the way and just use the existing stock tube to mount them in. Problem was there was too much play and all the pressure was on the pin/holes causing the holes to warp. It’s why I switched to the square tube design. It might work if all you do is tow but I occasionally crawl around the machine with the wheels down and it was too much stress.

I got good enough with the H F backhoe to ride a tooth each side of a 4 inch PVC drain and not crack the pipe.

Did that come with 4 wheels?

No, comes with 2. We added the extra set.

Most don't have the septic pumped until it fails. That's too late. That's the expensive way.
Get it pumped at least every 3 years. They don't have to pump as much, it's a smaller bill and you don't clog the leach field.
