First, no fleet Admiral would lead a fighter strike. Second How long did it take for the Humans to build shipyards then a fleet? And last, how did the " Federation " to learn human tactics and logistics?
-"The Vorrath were a race of formidable warriors their culture was built on strength and conquest, a legacy of survival against insurmountable odds" Can I sort of logic check you here the odds were insurmountable? yet they were surmounted, so they weren't actually insurmountable at all. just a bit tough, so not so much a death world, more a 'Paper cut world" Also, what evil part of the UA-cam algorithm is it that adds spelling mistakes after I post, I know they weren't there when I proof read it sixteen times, it's evil I tell you, someone write a story about that!
You gotta have some kind of light to recognize life and navigate to... the US has some of the most well lit and oddly shaped lighting from space of anywhere so... kinda makes sense if you're looking for a reason beyond the writer probably lives there. :)
The cliche we were weak but "inginuity", "resilience", "spirt" and plot made us op is overused. Captain don't lead fleets, especially an astronaut ones. Space ship combat doctrine would be similar to blue water combat doctrine so an admiral would likely be chosen to lead the fleet. Good HFY writing must be based on some reality. 1. An inexperienced force would be defeated by an experienced one, especially if outnumbered. Humans must already be experienced at war. 2. Humans must already be over powered and very experienced. Humans must be technologically superior techonoly and not depend on aliens for tech. 3. Humans must have a trait that put them at an advantage above aliens e.g. stronger, faster or physically resilient. Its the future. Maybe humans have found ways to shapshift. Or better yet, blend with the environment or regrow lost limbs like other animals on on earth.
In the picture..the alien on the ground...has his left hand..in the wrong position.... unless his arm has been completely torn out of socket..and twisted !
Seriously what does calm precision mean? That's something I hear in almost every one of these dumb-ass sci-fi stories. Stop being so excessively descriptive, it just shows the lazy and unimaginable writing.
Why is it always the HUMANS .who come on as the galaxy' badasses? Semms to me the assortment of other racses/species in our galaxy, should be VASTLY more competent!

It's just a story.
When I posted a similar comment on another story I was told "You're thinking too much"
