  • The whining noise appeared after cam chain replacement work at workshop. Poor quality of work: The cam chain cover was not correctly installed; it was 0,75 mm too high - not on the same level as the top of the cylinder head. That caused oil pump to twist a bit.
The correction needed replacement of the com chain cover; to get it to the same level as the top of the cylinder head.

Hi. Yes it is very common issue, but happens only, if you have repaired your cambelt/chain area end of you motor.
That end of the motor is covered with a large coverplate - having some 20 small bolts to get it tightened. Cannot remember excactly how many bolts, but a lot.
Have had that cover removed ever or even better: Do you know for sure that the twining noise appeared after that kind of repairwork?
The problem over there is that the cover is installed a bit too high - some ten parts of millimeter; 0,3...0,5 mm too high.
How that has hapoened and How to avoid/correct it?
When you have removed the end cover, and you are going to install it again, you have to loosen the oil pan bolts in order to make possible to get the cover correctly placed. And then you install the cover first - and make sure it is evenly levelled with the bidy of engine block on its upper level.
Hope this helps to understand it.
