  • 2nd single follow up to the Town Criers biggest hit "Everlasting Love" which took all the sales in Australia, "Any Old Time" was from the pen of songwriter Tony Macaulay who was running hot in the 60's & early 70's with hits like "Sorry Suzanne" "Build Me Up Buttercup", "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)", "Baby Now That I've Found You", "Blame It On The Pony Express" etc. It must have seemed like a safe bet & in fact it was as this one has the same good time pop/soul feel to it & it scored The Town Criers a 2nd Top 20 hit in Melbourne in March 1969. The B side, a cover of the Small Faces "Rene" is even better & shows a different side of what these teen favourites were capable of.
