Rewatching this really hits different now. Bang Yedam was the longest trainee among Korean trainees and Mashiho was the longest trainee among the Japanese trainees 😭

YG is the best company to debut. The best training ground and also they are best in paying their artist. Some other companies once their trainees made their debut they made them pay for their training days, that is why some KPOP idols didn't make a lot of money even after debut. YG is different, that is why most rich KPOP idols came from YG. 👏👏👏👏

This might be shocking, but the main producer and founder of YG Yang Hyunsuk (cap guy) actually used to be an idol (well its not really idol-idol its more of a hiphop group that started Kpop) and was once one of the biggest korean singers of korea. He was from Seo Taeji and Boys. After they broke up he then started the company then debuted as a solo artist

Some of Trainee A are close friend with some in Trainee B like Park Jihoon and Hyunsuk, Yedam, Junkyu and the rest since they are together for such a long time.
Sungyeon is Yedam close friend, they were in the same school as well.
a lot of treasure members are still students! jeongwoo and junghwan are in high school but it’s a performing arts school that a lot of idols go to so there’s more of a flexible schedule. i believe jihoon, jaehyuk, and yoshi are in college and doyoung is applying for college? there may be others too but it’s so good that they’re able to get an education as well as be a performer

One good thing about YG trainees, if they leave YG, is that they are highly sought after by other companies. YG is considered the best when it comes to training quality idols so other companies will usually keep their eyes out during monthly assessments to see if they can pick up any gems.

I don't think anyone has answered you, yet. YG or Yang Hyun Suk, the main producer himself, is part of Seo Taiji and Boyys. Most producers in YG have worked for a long time in the company producing top-tier idols, from Bigbang to Treasure. Senior dance trainers were YG artists' back-up dancers and members of their own popular dance crews.

YG Survival shows are unlike "Made for TV Survival Shows", there's none of the usual madeup drama. This is essentially a peek at the real life struggles YG Trainees goes through in order to take a coveted spot at YG's debuting group. You are misunderstanding the "gap" between Team A and B, there was no animosity there, it was just that they do not know each other yet because Team B were new trainees, as explained, to some it was their 1st or 2nd assessment so they were silent because they were very nervous. Team B are mostly scouted trainees (except Jihoon), some were the good looking kids that did not went through the usual YG Audition hence some are lacking in the kind of talent YG is looking for.
YG is recognized to have one of the best if not the best but hardest training system, it can almost be describe as brutal. Mino of Winner once described it as a "JUNGLE", its survival of the fittest. YG only debuts the top of the top.... and those that YG lets go after are picked up by other Entertainment Companies. Almost all the trainees in this show have debuted or are debuting.

Okay I cry with you when I hear yedam voice, I know Bang yedam for so long and I know how much he practice just to be able to debut so when he left it was a shock and heartbreak for me but I respect his decision because it was a big decision for him as well.

i know bang yedam from stray kids survival show when YG vs JYP and there was yedam singing "there"s nothing holding me back" and i love him so much after that, also i know junkyu hyunsuk and byeong gon (TEAM A) at the mix nine survival show, fans called TEAM A with SILVERBOYS (hyunsuk, yedam, junkyu, jihoon, doyoung, seunghoon, byeong gon, midam, woong, noa, and raesung) even tho they not debut in one group i still support them, seunghoon and byeong gon at CIX, woong at AB6IX, noa debut in japan, raesung became producer (he close with B.I), midam now in the military. jihoon at treasure box is in TEAM B because he left and then called back by YG to join yg treasure box, before that he also the part of TEAM A, because SILVERBOYS famous before yg treasure box that's why TEAM A + jihoon already have many fans who support them
note : noa and woong left before yg treasure box and raesung became producer (who also make a lot song for YG artist esp with B.I ) that's why they are not in the show

So I have to keep in mind now when I watch that most of these guys are already known to ppl and this isn't the first time audiences are meeting them. Okay, got it! 🙏🏻❤️
Now it feels weird (even a bit tragicomic) to watch this show where they fought nonstop to debut with so many tears, because we all know what happened in the end. I miss them both so much i hope Mashiho's health is getting better day by day
For the division, reason that they are not that close to Treasure B compare to Treasure C is because Treasure C trained longer than most of Treasure B they are just in Treasure C because of their age. In treasure B most of them are new except Jihoon, Jihoon just went along with B since that is his team for that moment

I feel like certain years and certain numbers feel closer or further than others. 2017 feels further than 6 years, but 2018 feels like it was 3 years ago lol. I don’t know, I think I just view time differently. Those 2 years of mostly doing nothing during lockdowns didn't help either 😂😭😭
the building shown in the video is yg's old building and i think it is now blacklabel's building (the subsidiary of yg ent) because they moved to a new building which is 10000x better.. actually treasure mmm mv was filmed in the new yg building ( YUP I AIN'T LYING)
Correct, the old YG building is now housing The Black Label, while the building under construction beside it is the New YG headquarters.

I saw Yedam, i cried! 😢 When u know, some saying YG let go of Yedam but i know from watching YG Treasure Box that he will never let go of someone as talented as Yedam just because he doesn’t want to.. maybe ur right..maybe it is what it is maybe not. Maybe we’ll never know the real reason or maybe that’s better than knowing.
Yedam back then goes to SOPA ( School of Performing Arts Seoul) he graduated already. Jeongwoo and Junghwan and some other idols studies there even Jungkook of BTS i think graduated there.
Main PD- YG himself was a hiphop singer back in the day fyi that is why he has eye for talent too..

My boy Seokhwa from WEi is a contestant here and I know you saw him live last year. I glimpsed him in a couple of shots during this episode, I think. I haven't watched this show but Seokhwa fans from the past, before he joined WEi, said that he didn't get a fair shake with screen time. He was crushed to not get into a group through this show but I'm so glad he became part of WEi. His amazing voice and quirky and fun personality are such an asset to WEi and he's said that he's "found his people."
I loved seeing him live, he was so funny and I loved his voice! I'm spotting a bunch of familiar faces in this show but I'm not quite sure who some of them are because they all look so different haha. It's that whole 6 degrees of separation thing 😭😂😂

The YG Producer and original owner of YG before they went public is Yung Hyk Suk, the main producer in this programme - and he was a member of one of Korea best groups - which was a 3 piece. His other member started JYP, Entertainment, which is 1 of the top 4 Korean Kpop companies along with YG.

the only KPop idol from YG producers was YG himself (main Producer Yang Hyun Suk) he was in the group called Seo Taiji and the boys he was known for his dancing , he pretty popular back then. YG trainee system is so good that even ex trainee could debut right away after leaving the company. thats why after YG treasure box ended, the trainees that didnt make it, get signed to other company and prepared for debut. ( CIX, WEi, P1Harmony, Ciipher, ect )

@@marcogennuso Yes, the company is named after the main producer who is also the founder of the company. YG means "Yang Goon" which I believe is Yang Hyun Suk's nickname.
Also, during YG monthly evaluations, the panel usually includes YG himself, Trainers/Teachers, YG Producers, and sometimes the YG artists themselves come in and join in evaluating their trainees.

Right from the start of YGTB, it already showed that YG already has Yedam, Junkyu, Jeongwoo & Haruto in his mind to debut.
I think sometimes you gotta go through different hallways before arriving at the door you wanted to enter...maybe Yedam wanted to be a producer first and foremost this whole time and this was his ticket into that? Or maybe after debut he started realizing being a producer was more his thing...I'd love to hear him speak about this!! 😩

I start to stan treasure bec.of there survival in yg treasure box.and my bias is PARK JEONGWOO.
2:48 that is their old building, the one being built next to it is the new one.
They still use the old one but for other stuff and moved the main operation for the new one in 2020. I believe there are plans to connect both buildings but havent seen anything about it recently.
But basically, the music and dance studios you saw here are on the old building and now they are using the new ones on the new HQ.
1:03:25 well, not for YG, Ikon was a special case, but before them YG groups were known for having less members. Their first artist was a hiphop duo (Jinusean), so 2 members obviously, their first group were 4 members (1TYM, the group where Blackpink's producer Teddy was part of), Swi.T had 3 members, Bigbang had 5 (now its complicated), 2NE1 had 4, Winner, started with 5 but now are 4 and AKMU are also 2. Ikon was the first to have more, debuting with 7 and after them they went back to fewer members with Blackpink (4 members). So apart from Ikon, all YG groups had 5 or less members.
Treasure was a unique situation since it was a surprise that YG would have a group with so many members. It was such a big surprise that even YG didnt expect to make a group that big.
Tho now they seem to be ok with having more members since next group (Babymonster) will have 7 members as well.
Also YG (the main producer with the cap and founder of YG Ent.) was a rapper and dancer of one of the first groups that originated kpop. Since he was a rapper, and the group also had influences with hiphop, the company end up having a strong influence of hiphop as well, making YG a hiphop powerhouse. Basically if you think of rappers, YG is one of the first companies to come to mind, and that is because of the founder's background.

Seoul School of Performing Arts is the school Yedam went to. Its where most idols and trainees go to since the school are more accomodating to them than others (i even remember in 2019(?) when straykids I.N and yedam's names were written in the board as absentees lol)

I dont know why I thought u had already watch this lolol. But you're totally right when u say this is a time capsule, lots of things have changed during these years. For example, in the intro, the building covered in the blue cloth has been finished and YG has a new building. The building we walkedthrough in the intro is no longer YG but is now The Black Label. The X Academy building does no longer exist- iKON is no longer in YG, Yang went and just recently came back, the trainees are no longer trainees and 90% of them have already debuted. It may just been 4 years ago but def feels nostalgic.
Absolutely insane!! It feels like it plays out like the memories we have of our own past...school, other jobs, the people we used to hang around...so crazy!
So sad that Bobby is no longer with YG. But still am hoping that Bobby and Mino will make another collab

Team B (besides Jihoon who was brought back for the show) were just newbies who were nervous for the assessment. The Team A boys are closer to Team C coz both teams have been there for a while.
Also random fact, the boys have revealed that some of them already know some of the Team J trainees coz they met years back when the Japanese trainees went korea to train there for a bit.
Anyways, looking forward to the next episode.

I don't really want to watch this again, but I really liked how you reacted to CIX and dive into them, btw BX and Seunghun are here too in Team A
It seems you are also misinterpreting some of the actions of the trainees here, and for sure in other episode you'll feel this again, but this show has some weird editings and does not really show the audience everything, this show affected how some fans think of the trainees personality and some hated them until now, some trainees did not have good screentime as well, theres a lot of unfair editings here

If you wanna experience even more pain I recommend watching the series that debuted Winner (like u mentioned. It had winner and ikon against each other pretty much. I think they were the only two teams I don’t remember). That program in itself wasn’t what broke me. What broke me was the actual program that did debut iKON which was Mix & Match. The concept was that the core 3 members of iKON (B.I, Bobby, & Jay) would essentially debut no matter what, but the other 3, Ju-ne, Song, & DK could be replaced by new trainees. This is the program that added Chan but the possibility that those three members might not debut even though they already had to endure a different program together the year before crushed my soul.
I really thank you so much for reacting for this. As a Yedam fan, this just brings me a different feel watching this again.

Yes! Some of them I've seen photos of from this show haha, others I haven't.
I think you're misinterpreting the dynamics between Treasure A & B. For the most part, everyone got along well & were really supportive of each other. I think Treasure B was extremely nervous & sort of isolated themselves in the first episode. Not gonna lie though, there are a few scenes where Treasure A annoyed me with their cockiness but I got over it... lol. After you finish YGTB, someone made a video that shows where all 29 trainees are now. Let me know if you want the link.
