  • Fun Night Dive with Dan Howard at Shaw's Cove, Laguna Beach CA.
    Tank: PST119
    Camera: GoPro HERO 11 Black
    Time In: 7:08pm
    Time Out: 8:03pm
    Bottom Time: 55min
    Depth: 52ft
    Min Temp: 60.1F
    Small 1-2ft surf for entry/exit.
Lots of Surge whole dive, but not bad to work with.
Lots of critters moving around for a night dive.
Sea Life: Round Stingrays, Thornback Rays, 5ft Shovelnose Guitarfish, 2 Horn Sharks (Baby + Small), Chunk the Harbor Seal, Baby Bat Ray, Lobsters, Octopus, Morey Eel, Garibaldis, Sheephead, Calico Bass, Anchovie, Spanish Shawls,
Dropped and headed out along reef wall just over sand. Went out to the end of the reef into the sand to 52ft. Then back to reef and worked our way around end zone before heading back in along the wall. Chunk joined us on our way back in and kept coming back to us. At one time he came out into the sand and just about bumped Dan and I was able to pet the Big Boy before he took off again. Then a Baby Bat Ray came flying by into the shallows. It then circled back around and came directly at me and my camera before taking off again.
We finished up having a great time underwater after doing our Safety Stops and making our way into the shallows. We surfaced and kicked in to the shallows to remove our fins and then walk back oout of the water ending an Awesome Dive.
    Amazing Night Dive!!

This is very beautiful, but I’m concerned that you’re getting too close to the animal because it alters their behavior. Maybe you’re using a camera to zoom in and are not actually so close, can’t tell from the video.
