Steven ; thank you for sharing this beautiful culture , I hope the JAPANESE do not perish for lack of child birth !! I do not want to lose JAPAN.... .🙏🏻
I hope so and thank you Chris! :))
Steven, thank you for taking me along on this journey. Very nice video and photographs.
Thanks:)
yay new video!
Watching again ; these structures , their art composition materials , there is a rightness , my father worked in fine cabinet making , every home , we had we built , and the kitchens were hand made solid Cherry , solid wood fashioned , I can still feel that cabinetry , under my young hands fingers gliding. That is what comes back looking at these old historic structures , the touch of hands. Wonderful.
Thank you! Out of all the photography videos I watch on youtube, yours are my favourite!! They are all so calm and nice to watch, but also very captivating throughout the whole video!
I am so glad thank you :))
Great video
They designed Pro cameras properly in the old times. I still have my Nikon F3, FM2, FE2 from late 70s~early 80s and all those wonderful Nikon AI lenses with 52mm Filter thread, from the 20mm all the way to the 80~200 F4. One set of filters ( including a Nikon Sofar and the Contrast yellow, deep yellow. Orange, Red, Green etc) . Nowadays, it seems the camera manufacturers go out of their way to make us buy super large 82mm filters for the ever increasing sizes of their lenses. My 500CM and 553 ELX are getting old like myself, but unlike me they are still going strong. Come to think of it, when I bought my Hasselblad filters all those decades ago, they were quite expensive TBH, particularly the Softar that I used for taking portraits. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the younger generation of photographers, and reminding all of us that there was life and brilliant photography before digital.
Thank you so much for your touching comment, I like it!!
Thank you for sharing. you have inspired me to dust off my 503cx
great:)
👍👍
What an absolutely beautiful time to visit Kyoto. I would have not thought to shoot such beautiful color in B&W, but you show that it works so well.
The beautiful subtle image at 5:49 with the single leaf and it's shadow. Excellent.
The picture of the woman kneeling with the subtle light and that pose and expression 8:59 is a spectacular capture. Awesome sir.
Love the final scene with you and your PEN FT, very fitting final scene. You look so content.
Your videos and images are a joy to see. I look forward to the day that I visit your beautiful country in both spring and fall.
I am so glad, thanks Steve! :)
Steven, great job dear, many thanks for sharing these!!
Thanks my friend :)
I am so happy I stumbled across your channel. You're full of useful tip! And you pay attention to all details. You rock, Steven!
thanks T :)
Very nice. And a good reminder on filters .. Now where are my filters. Hmm
Boom!
@@StevenTanno thats okay. When i first saw this i was "why on earth is she shooting foliage in black and white". But i must admit, some of your frames here and in other videos are very good. I enjoy your videos. I bought a f4. I have a question. In one you are shooting through fences? Why through the fence? In others I'm just not seeing what you are shooting or "seeing". I don't question your judgement, you are clearly with skill and talent. I just find it curious. Your attitude and demeanor in these videos is very pleasant as well. Earnest, confident, inspiring
@@itsallminor6133 I don't know in which one video but maybe I was want some bokeh elements on front:)
High quality photography video.
Very beautiful as always, Steven. I love your work.
Thanks as always 😄
I really like it it is so interesting 😊
Glad thank U!
I'v been in Kyoto from 2nd till 10th of December. I shot exclusively 135 color negativ film and black and white digital. For the first time in a long while I shot 5 rolls color film to document the beautiful autumn in Kyoto. Although I'm looking forward to get hands on my developed negatives I find your approach more interesting. Thank you so much for your inspiring video.
Lovely shots Steven. I sometimes use the orange filter with HP5 on the Hasselblad. The softar filter gave you a nice effect.
Thank U John. The orange is better than red I think, and also just need 2 stop down the speed.
Very beautiful pictures, I had to order a yellow filter myself!
😄
Good work! Thank you
Thanks !!
Very nice video as usual!
Thanks my friens :)
Filter compensation factor? Or just light meter the snaps?
Lovely video again Steven! I've got a question though, I'm looking for a (bit) wider angle lens for my Nikon F3, and I noticed you also shoot a lot with Nikkor lenses so I was wondering what your favorite 28 - 35mm lens is?
I was love my 24/2.8 AI-S when I was young, actually 24 with amazing color performance even on digital Nikon.
But I would say 28mm f2 is a very good choice.
Just went to Kyoto too. Have been a while since my last time there - a lot has changed and a lot hasnt. May i ask where is the spot at 4:30?
is in Koumyoji(光明寺)Nagaoka(長岡市)
@@StevenTanno ohh looks amazing never been to Nagaoka before
