True, but you still wouldn't risk odds like that with no choice. The Galaxy just barely survived, and the Jem Ha'dar would've definitely tried a kamikaze run at some point. Better to run and use those aft photon launchers to good effect on anyone chasing you.
@@DrOneOneOne I agree, in a war you usually dont fight until the end. You want to have an advantage against your enemy, or at least have a mission goal that is worth the sacrifice. Not sure about the Jem Hadar, tho. Those guys are fanatics.
almost what would have happened the War Galaxy or the Venture Refit named for the first Galaxy class to receive the full refit USS Venture (NCC-71854) had 6 Type 12 Phasers the primary phaser arrays on the dorsal and ventral part of the saucer the 2 array's on the back of the saucer and the 2 phaser strips on top of the Nacelles were all type 12's the same type of Phasers used by the Prometheus class and the Sovereign class starship AND by most Federation starbases The Venture Refit also increased the number of phasers from 10 to 14 and the other remaining 8 Phaser array's were all type 11's the Venture refit also had the same type of heavy Regenerative shielding that the Sovereign class had as well as an upgraded warp-core and ablative Hull armor protecting vital systems
I think the war galaxy class was not yet fully equipped Ive had a look at the internal systems for the defiant class and basically mapped these (powerplant eps conduit for weapons n stuff) against the interior of the saucesection of the galaxy class... Man if the federation wanted a juggernaut they could fit 12 to 13 defiant shield and weapons inside that galaxy class there is Nothing to match that firepower and defence the galaxy class would mutate into a defencestation that could. Move incredibly fast...... Would ve loved to see that BTW, it would even have 13 quantum torpedo launchers
Budget of the show runners was always a concern and they didnt want yet another Galaxy Class ship beside of the Enterprise D to steal the show and to shift focus away from the station. We see the pre-refit Odyssey getting destroyed, so the spectator sees that even such a mighty ship can be harmed and that Starfleet isnt safe. Unfortunately we dont even see much of the refitted Galaxy ships, like the Venture and the Challenger. Only a few combat scenes where we can look at all those additional phaser banks. I also imagine that the refitted ships would have quantum torpedo launchers. Not sure about the shields, tho. I think if they could have added more shield generators they would have already. Then again, technological advancements are accelerated during a war because you are trying to outpace your foes. And its only logical that they would evacuate civilians and have more room for additional generators and weaponry (and less quarters and laboratories). It might be an issue of capacity in the space yards, tho. You need every ship out there fighting the enemy. You cant afford to take them into drydock and upgrade them for weeks or for months. We are seeing ships kept in service even if they have extensive damage and are in need of repairs.
@@Gentleman...Driver Those war Galaxies were mostly empty space. Ran minimal life support in many areas and skeleton crews. Saves loads of power to buff shields, power the new phasers, and be spare parts storage. Honestly, they would have been better building 20 Defiant vs 1 Galaxy. Defiant is smaller than Miranda, requires less crew, and has firepower comparable to a pre war Galaxy and is maneuverable and can be easily inconspicuous if powered down. The Galaxy has more surface area to spread damage out on but defiant is better at avoiding enemy.

They are both as more powerful than the Type X than the Type X was to the Type IX. It has been conjectured, however, that the Dominion War Galaxy Class had several of its largest Type X arrays, presumably the saucer dorsal and ventrals, and the ventral secondary hull, with Type XIIs. This would greatly increase the beam weapon capability of the Galaxy to match the Jem Hadar Battleships and Battlecruisers.
