"If there's a hole there for it, I kind of want to put something in it, know what I mean?".... We felt the off camera snicker during the pause.
Best way to end the year : watching sim racing's Jesus review another wheel
lol
Bob Ross of Sim!
I feel like this is the most professional sim racing review/commentary channel. Wish they made a review of the alpha base as well. Feels good to have someone objective to compare to similar priced products, especially I feel this is a newer company in the market.
Nice! This is better than the actual AMG GT wheel it is based on.
you know its a good company when they are constantly improving from customers' suggestions
Just ordered, thanks for another amazing review. Looking forward to trying this out
Now I've ordered the MECA CUP1-3 pedals, after watching your review a couple of times. I've also been wanting a new wheel for a while that is more focused on racing, and I kinda wanted to wait for the new Simlab Sparco P310 wheel to be released, but I also have a chance to jump on an intro-offer I've gotten on this one, which ultimately will make them equally priced as the Simlab one (after taxes, shipping and all that).
This one is really tempting, it got all I need and then some.
Purchased wheel.
After a lot of research.
Happy happy happy customer over here.
Thinking of taking the direct drive leap from a fantec csw, really torn which set up to roll with
How has it held up over since you have had it a while now
Great review! Can't wait until mine comes in. Anxiously waiting on your Alpha base review!
So.. How was it!? Were your expectations met? And its not until now that Barry is going to finally review one of the Alphas, the mini but all is good same internals different motor
@@DavidGarcia-oi5nt i'm really happy with mine, some quirks in the software but i'm figuring it out with help on the discord. wheel feels really amazing when its dialed in
@@aaroncaito3280 Download and Run Alpha Manager
Set Calibration for wheel. Set Center
And Wheel rotation.
Then keep open in background of your game. Should be solid after that
Also if you lose Button Channel. Plug in USB To wheel. Then go thru each channel and press buttons untill you are reading them in Calibration screen then unplug and remember the channel. Boom you all good again
@@darwinLee81283 Thanks, yeah this all works. There are just a couple of bugs that are slowly but surely getting ironed out such as `limit angle` not saving/updating, lumpiness in wheel motor that requires power cycle on base after a few hours of usage, etc. These things are getting worked out but just be aware things are in active development.
Hi Barry, nice review! The difference between the alum face gt4 and the CF one, is that the 7 way rotaries are recessed or cut straight through the faceplate, protecting the bottom of the knob, and the rotary shaft. I was surprised to see how far up the knobs were on your model, even though you can lower them with the setscrew. There's still a tiny bit of play in the shaft, but nothing what you were showing here. This is definitely the design flaw for this model. I would personally cut in some recessed holes. Also, the handgrips are silicone on my model, instead of leather, we'll see how they hold up. This wheel is top notch, it IS worth the money and I hope they modify the cf models with the recessed mounting points. NOW, I know how to use the clutch pedals!!! Thx Barry, HNY!
drove 4 years with thrustmaster . now owning the simagic alpha mini - i can tell you that every setting with all kind of detail is just something you have to play around with. it made me 200% more consistant on track. not really faster, but same speed ,maybe little bit faster ( i guess here the pedals(break throttle) are more mandatory if you wanna make (big) progress in time) with waaaay less stress... the car is super controlable now. i wanted to test different games but im stuck with ACC since 3 months now... another good thing is : even after sessions what are 2 hours long - its not heating up or changing in some wierd way . awesome base and wheel.
nice! read online a few times the base gets real hot when you run it close to max FFB - at what % FFB do you run it? thinking about getting one myself (coming from t300)
Keep up the great vids American James May.
Looks really nice wheel, they should put those contacts straight up would be much easier to insert cable's, really good reviews!.
SRG need some T-shirts and other Merch with "So...Lets Get To It" on 'em.
This little Chinese company is absolutely killing it. My alpha mini arrived a couple of days ago with the GT1-D rim and I'm pretty impressed. Is it perfect? No. Am I happy for what I paid and what else is on the market for a similar price? Absolutely. The QR on these wheels is fantastic, the alcantara finish on the wheel feels great (the finish on the gluing on one side of my wheel was a tiny bit off - perfectly finished on the left side where my hand grips but on the right side there is a slight gap in the gluing). The Alpha mini itself is very good. I've had a single disconnect so far after jumping out of AC but other than that it is performing really well in AMS 2 and RF 2, the 2 main sims I drive in.
looks nice as hell
Fantastic review Barry! I'm wondering is the simagic quick release has any play in it and thats why you went back to the zero play for the driving section?
Can you do a review of the DD base? Great review!
Giro Trixter Men's Mountain Cycling Gloves first pair of gloves i bought because cheap and lucked out they work pretty well with this wheel
I've got this rim, but mine is slightly different. The rotary switches and the funky joysticks are anondized red and blue, which isn't much of a difference, but more importantly my grips are alcantera, instead of the finished rubber you see here. They look exactly the same shape, though. So, have they done this to make the wheel cheaper to build? My alcantera grips have about 120 hours on them so far and there's zero visible wear, so I don't lmpw why they would go to the cheaper-looking rubber grips. It's odd.
Sim Racing Garage any chance of a review/comparo with the FX pro? Struggling between these two!
Great view, as always! Does anyone know if this wheel, or simagic wheels in general, come with pads to muffle the sound of the paddle shifters? Not sure how loud they are on this GT4.
Thanks again for the review.
Can you do a review on the Simagic FX Pro? I really love your video's!!!
Hello Barry,
I really love your reviews, keep up the good work!
One questions on this review: Can the optional paddles also be assigned as buttons in the Simagic Software?
Thx!
Did you find a way? They told me no on Simagic Discord, Sux because you can with the Fx Pro and GT Pro hub, worked perfect for changing TC1 on the fly
@@kbsmithgaming9560 I use JoyToKey to bind it as a button.
Just ordered it :)
We will check if it makes you faster, mate :)
@@RossoSimRacing It won't, I'm hopeless :) But I need illuminated buttons, since I moved my rig and it's in a pretty dark corner now. Happy new year Jakub
@@MikiLaggard C'mon mate :) You are one of the most decent guys I was racing with. Happy new year!
@@RossoSimRacing Thanks man, yeah that race was fun!
Currently torn between the simulaje f1s anfd this wheel. The two are similarely priced.
Hi Barry still loving the videos and the hair doo, I know this is off topic to the video but what are your thoughts on a triple monitor set up to one big arsed curved monitor ie 49inch ???
49 is good, i have one, but you still cant look out of the right passenger window to see other cars like you can on triples
what all wheels should have implemented is a Lenovo trackpoint mouse. (a little joystick to move the mouse)
I wish they would make a SimuCUBE wireless compatible version as well. I guess they want people to buy their wheel base.
Could you please review the Simagic FX Wheel one day?
Thanks for review! But I have a question... Why information about weight of devices not present anymore? From my point of view it's important information for steering wheels... Weight and size.
Fantastic and in-depth review. I race strictly Open Wheel cars; F1, F3, F2, and IndyCar. Would this wheel suffice and perform for this style of driving? I’ve been very interested in Simagic products.
Yes!
I havent watched yet but this Formula wheel looks promising! Making me want to upgrade my CSL Elite
Review simagic Alpha
Can the sim magic be used on fanatec dd1?
Hi, i have GT4PRO and in the SimProManager only moves Clutch 2 bar. Clutch 1 doesn´t move.
I press left Clutch and then in the software SimPro the Clutch 2 bar goes to 50% and when i press right clutch in the whell, then in clutch 2 bar that was at 50% goes to 100%
But as i said, Clutch 1 in the SimPro doesn´t move.
Notice also that Sync Button don´t appear in the Simpro.
now i need them to come up with pedals and shifter and ill be all set
they are working on some nice he style pedals coming soon
@@patty1086 really? are there any info on that
@@gliberty490 well you should know now they are the Simagic P2000 200KG hydrualic load cell set, bit pricy tho $1200 AUD
Does anyone know what kind of connector the round connector is? Is it some kind of DIN connector?
Thinking of picking with up over getting the Fanatec McLaren GT3 v2 converted to USB. Its more expensive but it seem to be way higher quality. I found one without the dual clutch ( since I wouldnt use it) for 630.00 It still seems a Little high on the price. If it was 500-550.00 I wouldn't hesitate.
I hope you didnt, Mclaren is a plastic rim
@@LJMRACING Nope. I ended up getting the GT4 Carbon. Love that rim. Everything about feels high end and solid.
@@cbrdealer nice!!!
I don't believe you have the wind fans linked to the speed of the car! Really? Awesome Hahahahaaaaaa

What is the diametre of this wheel?
Does sigmagic make ps4 p5 dd wheels ???
I've got the alpha with a gt1 wheel and the shifters or buttons don't do anything. Anybody else have this problem?
Work with Fanatec DD1’s?
Yes but you need podium hub.
Considering getting this over the McLaren V2. Google suggests I could make this work on a DD1
I have this wheel on a Podium Hub with the Fanatec DD1. It’s awesome value for a great 300mm GT3 wheel. High recommended.
@@georgetomlinson1144 Thanks. It's likely to happen then. Unless I see the pricetag on the BMW rim coming out and it's reasonable for me.
@@georgetomlinson1144 This would work with the normal QR from Fanatec as well, right? Cause I could use the one from my McLaren rim as there's no difference to using a podium hub or is there?
@@BornFromTheShadows Unfortunately not. As the the normal QR has no logic board that tells the DD1 there is a wheel connected as that electronics are in the fanatec wheels. The podium hub contains everything needed with any wheel.
@@georgetomlinson1144 Ah damn that's a shame. Oh well, guess I have no choice then but to order the podium hub as well. But it's an investment for future rims as well so might not be the worst choice. Thanks for your answer!
I’ve just received this rim and it’s pretty awesome overall but I think I hate the grips lol. They are hard plastic and I feel like I’m losing grip on the wheel often. Maybe some gloves with a lot of grip on them could fix that?
I just received mine and the grips have changed to alcentara
@@bradmccombs3925 did you change them or it came like that?? Do you have the same version as in this video? Where did you buy it?
No they came like that and yes it's the gt4 version with the carbon fiber front plate. I got it from simmotion in u.s.
@@bradmccombs3925 it’s USB? Or you have the wireless version with a simagic base
Wireless with simagic
simagic Alpha, simagic Alpha, simagic Alpha, simagic Alpha
Looks like you could have flipped and hid one of the t-nuts on the plate mount, no?
Looks like a good wheel. The only sticking point for me is it costs over $500 and for a rim that expensive, I would expect customizable button faces to fully take advantage of the backlight of each button. It's annoying to me to have a windshield wiper symbol for pit limiter etc.. Seems like an oversight on what is a top contending rim.
nice wheel there but have you heard of "Gomez Sim Engineering"?? Way awesome like the one I found....
how much?
Over $700

Who can afford this????
People with jobs!!
People that have too much money
Adults
This wheel is cheap, there are wheels out there that cost 3 times as much.
Check out precision sim and cube control wheels and you will ask the same thing
Another track does exist in sim racing....Just sayin.
terrible wheel
