I too like these big powerful beasts but my first flight ever was a L1011 with Rolls Royce engines. Went from JFK to Orlando to Disney world 1974 but I have been on 747, old 707 MD's and DC 9 plus flew to LA with a stop in Houston on a 747 combo! We had to sty on the jet as it unloaded in Texas but we could stretch out-we had our pick of seats due to minimum passengers due to weight restrictions only $99 to LA plus it was like 3am
@@lavanyachella6515 It was OK. I only had a few problems with technical issues. While I preferred the DC10, post modification to MD10 there were some strange new issues. Never had to shut down an engine on any of them in 6500 hours of flying.
@@moof2062 I may be wrong but I’ve heard that they have to land at high speed due to the instability it has at low speed with it’s short vertical stabilizer.
The MD11 is an absolute beauty aircraft on air or in the ground, taking off or landing , it will always be my favorite if they'll use it again as passenger aircraft.
0:15 sounds like the reaction of some football/soccer commentators when a player shoots it wide. Brilliant footage mate! I think they did a go-around because they feared they had bounced the landing. Maybe they wanted to avoid smacking the nose down too hard like their colleagues at Narita last decade...
Some of the previous comments already state the possible cause of the go-around (main gear bounce), to add to that, after the well-known bounce-and-rollover accidents that have occurred with the MD-11, there is an actual alert that pops up on the PFD I believe if the bounce is too high. In that case the procedure is to go-around. Also, look like it was fairly windy when this was recorded.
Although I flew on many DC-10s, I never had the opportunity on the MD-11. It is so majestic on takeoff, yet so apparently clumsy on landing. I don’t know why.
That’s what you’re supposed to do if you have an MD11 bounce, you apply full power and perform a go-around! They’ve had several crashes due to bounced MD landings!
Really hope these MD-11s stick around for a while longer. Love them!

The safest response to a landing bounce is to apply maximum power and abandon the landing. (I am a retired MD-11 Captain)
Great to know that, How was the MD-11 to you?

Was there a reason why the MD 11 was bouncy?

Yes u dont want to end up like fedex 80.....
Fantastic video man
Man I love those MD-11s. ❤️
Great shots specially the go-around in start 👍
Superb MD11-F action.

Yes!
They haven't been used as passenger aircrafts for decades now.....they've been discontinued for years
Love the MD-11 great video , thumbs up !! keep up the great work !!

Wow. Perfect light.

I agree, looks like a bouncy touch down and around they went. Good piloting.
@Robert George lol
Very Good Melbourne Aviation.
Ohhhhh ya 🙌🏻 EXCELLENT video of one of my favorites 🚀
Wow good video men 😃👌🏻✈️ .
Long live to the beauty of the skies !

dont they have a high landing speed?
Tail section is too small. They made it smaller because of its poor fuel consumption

Really epic video mate! Liked!
Top video.. Thanks for sharing.. Isnt she just stunning in the air ❤️👌😁
0:15 he’s missed it alright. Great catch 👍
Great work matess 😍😍stunning videos 👌👌

Nice👍👍👍
Great Video! :)

wonderful
FedEx gets the hardest landing award!
Nice
Perfectly executed based on a bounced landing. Avoiding the UPS bouncing accident that killed the crew in Japan.
It was FadEx not UPS.
Awesome MD11 Compilation, the aborted landing was so nice, especially the comments at the back :)
Cool
outstanding
Some wind shear before the flare by the looks
Great footage.
What equipment do you use?
Not surprising, several have died in those things upon landing - some issues with blanking of rudder/elevators!
Nice catch! Impossible to say what's the reason from the distance.
The first video appears to be an empty ferry flight based on the flight number 90**.
0:16 'You can always go around'
Full flaps on the go around ? 😱
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🇨🇴
The Karen that got her package 20 mins late sued FedEx and fired the pilots with her Karen power
LMMFAO
Looks like going around due to the bounce.
Normal procedure for a bounced landing in an MFD-11/DC-10. Otherwise you end up like those poor FedEx chaps in Japan.
4 md11f airplane send me i need
