The Katana should have clip on handle bars like the 1982 original, then I'd be tempted to get one. In the 80's I owned a 1982 Katana 1000 and I miss that bike a lot.
100% agree! I had 2 1100’s in the 80’s and I still think about how much fun they were to Ride. The original 1100 katana was the first real muscle/sport bike and spawned today’s sports bike ... just my opinion.
@@baxbax8701 reasonable, the Katana 1100 especially with the Yoshi cams and exhaust was a beast, though I'd suggest the original GPz900 or GSXR750 with the oil cooling could also make the claim of first modern sports bikes.
Can’t argue with that. I remember when the Gpz came out and the first cbr 1000. Both way ahead of the original katana. Then the gsxr’s hit the market and hoo-boy, they were seemingly light years ahead of everything! Ah, such memories!
Hard to choose between the Katana and the XSR900. Both beautiful and high performing motorcycles.

@@petedetraglia4776 Totally agree with you. The 1980 Katana was simple but nice looking, the 1993 release was the best looking esepcially with the full fairing, but the price was a killer. The 2022 release, what a ugly bike, but then there are so many ugly bikes from every manufactures.

Katana: Pity Suzuki chose to halve the tank capacity from the original. I know it's supposed to be a Sunday 'run to cafe' bike, but at 12L it literally would require me to fill up en route to my cafe O_o

I love Suzuki for having the courage to release models that go against the expected norms...ie: like the original Katana and the B King for examples. However I think they missed the mark with this latest Katana. Shame.

I am really sick of the modern style bikes with all of there jagged lines, with insect headlights, rock hard passenger seats that are way to high up. and no wind protection with tacky colors all mixed into a tacky tasteless package, why can't they make tasteful looking bikes with fairings and comfortable seats and sitting positions. without them being big heavy tour bikes. like the performance of an R1 with an upright seating position and a higher fairing to compensate for the upright seating position. with a seat that doesn't go small and high for passengers, all the plastic on these new bikes looks tacked on. Like the H2 where you can see the screws holding on the wings. these bikes remind me of those tacky boom boxes they had back in the day. with all the flashing lights and tacky colors. the bikes have to many angular parts and to many tacky colors. I just don't get it. do people really like these designs ? I think the retro bikes like the Z650 rs and 900rs have the nicer styling than the sport bikes. but I do like the white R1, but it should not have the yellow on the front. its like they had to mess up a nice design with two many colors. the white and red looks tasteful but the added yellow makes the bike tacky. am I the only one who sees this ?

My thoughts exactly! Uncomfortable seats that are too small and up way to high! Give us a comfortable sportbike! And not the "naked bikes" with all of their detuning of the engine. Just a fast comfortable bike. Is that too much to ask for? And yeah, fuck that yellow on that R1.
We are living in the Ugly Age of biking. Over clever and designed by computers not real people. And while I’m at it, get rid of these tft screens. I get enough computer at work. Bring back CLOCKS!!!
Pity the poor mechanic who has to take off 150 parts to sync throttles, adjust valves, battery, etc. If you lay it down you'll have to replace 25+ parts which won't fit onto the old parts anymore. Styling looks like they took a box of parts and threw them at a wall. White/red R1 has no mirrors? 14HP? Whoa Nellie!
