Aw, sorry you're disappointed. I would be too. But from the outside I think you and Zurreal did great! You've taken a wild horse who could've really freaked out, even to the point of being dangerous, and all that happened was a little stage fright. This is a first for both of you and you're doing great. For what it's worth I'm proud of you! :) *hugs*
I appreciate you filming and sharing this with us. I'm not in a position to ride right now but you're videos are inspiring and encourage me to keep fighting to get back in the saddle one day.
@Evalyn Mcfarland (STUDENT) Me you mean? I have a chronic illness and am unable to work or even drive right now. My mother usually drives me places but we're caregiving for my Dad and so have to hire someone to watch him when we go out which is expensive. So I don't go out much.
Also over the years I've racked up some medical debt for both myself and my late dog I'm trying to pay off which is tough since my only income right now is SSDI. Thank you for the well wishes though. I hope to get things under control enough to ride again someday.
I love how positive Marina is, I would have been really sad for a while. But she kept it positive. Thank you for inspiring me to keep going in tough spots
Seeing all of this footage makes me miss being there🥺I had such a good time I was so sad to leave. It was truly the experience of a lifetime. I understand 100% what you said about being disappointed. None of my classes with my my filly went as expected. We placed second to last in our trail routine with stuff that she would do back at home with no qualms. She wouldn’t load in H&C either, and we ran out of time in Freestyle to do everything we wanted. So, I totally get feeling that. It’s also so hard not to compare yourself in that environment to everyone else and their horses. It took me a good few days to accept that what happened happened, and I know still that my horse is a rockstar no matter what🤍
The whole goal of this was to train a wild pony- and that’s exactly what we did! You TAMED a wild mustang. That’s a huge accomplishment no matter what girl! I’m so proud of you and Zurreal🤎🐴
Wow! That’s amazing that you were able to participate in such an amazing event! I really want to do it one day but don’t have space right now. I’m hoping to build a larger barn in a few years.
@@kenna_c Thsnk you! It truly was the most challenging yet rewarding thing I’ve ever done. If you have the space and the experience to work with young/dangerous horses DO IT. It will be so hard sometimes you just want to stop, but you end up getting a partner and best friend for life out of it🥰🐴Mustangs officially have my heart now🤎
@@maddalenahylton i’ve trained 1 colt and 1 gelding. I ended up keeping both but I only have a 5 stall barn and 5 horses so for now I don’t have enough room for more but I really want to expand soon.
@@kenna_c oh my gosh I wasn’t doubting your skills at all! I think you would do amazing with a mustang. I just mentioned that because some people sign up for the Makeover without knowing what they were getting themselves into😅I hope you end up being able to do one girl!!!

Even though it did not go as planned, you should be incredibly proud of yourself and Zurreal!! You guys have come so far and you have done a fantastic job with her, truly. She is a lucky mare to have an incredible horse person like you! Great job! 👏

Wow...what an emotional rollercoaster! Wanting it to go better than it did....yup, that's competing with a horse for ya. You win some you lose some, at the end of the day you just have to be proud of your own progress, proud of any "win" you had with your horse (no bucking with the trot transition!), thankful that you didn't get hurt, and remember that there is always next time

The thing is look at how great she’s become with humans in general, you use to not be able to get close to her now you can load, saddle, pick up her feet, brush her, and pet her she’s come so far and that arena seemed really scary you did amazing for your first show with a horse you trained from day one!!!!!! We are so proud of you!!❤️🐴🐎
You guys did great! Even though it didn’t go as planned, your still winners. Horses don’t always want to do what u want them to do, and you probably know, that’s equestrian life. I’m so proud of you guys!
i totally know that feeling of defeat. i used to blame everything on my horse but i have learned to work it out as a team and watch videos to find my mistakes. you did a really good job. i love your videos!

I can totally understand your disappointment. When you put everything you have into something and it doesn't go as planned, it's a hard. However, the two of you actually did great! You both gave your best and that's perfect!

You are so brave!! I love seeing your journey with both of your horses. I love how honest you are and down to earth about the reality of life. I also love that you are not afraid to tell us about the good and the bad when trying new things! It can be so easy to feel like a failure in the horse world when it seems like everyone else is succeeding, but in reality, that just isn’t true. For your first “show” and mustang makeover, I think you did AMAZING! Thank you for being brave and continuing to do what you love despite the social pressures. 💜 You are a huge encouragement to me.

Aww Marina, I feel for you! I was watching the handling and conditioning, and thought that you were really close to getting her relaxing and cooperative. However, that adrenaline is a tricky thing, especially if you aren’t accustomed to showing. Zurreal looked fantastic, (I love the photo of her in the English tack!) and you were able to learn so much from her…the bond and trust she had in you was apparent. IMHO you made wise choices for the good of your horse during the competition, which is to be commended. Z learned a lot from you, and you from her…a rich learning experience for sure! I look forward to seeing you work with your next Mustang!

My sis had a show once and it wasn’t the best experience for her her horse went lame and the horse that was her back up horse was scared of wind and it was a very windy dayBut we all said she handled it very well and I felt really bad because that day I got a champion award and I felt like she was upset because I got one and she did it but I had to say you did very well she still scarred to do a show but I know she’s so strong and she’s gonna do it again this is what I’m saying to you you got this everyone makes mistakes it’s human you just have to brush it off and do it again! I love you and you got this❤️

I know you're dissappointed but if the competition was just based on how far you and Zurreal had come I think you guys would win lol I'm really happy you decided to share your journey with us because there aren't very many equestrian youtubers that have videos of literally their first EMM. It was great to see where you started and I hope that you'll try again now that you've gotten some experience. I really want to do an EMM soon and this helped me a lot to realize that who cares if I win or make the top ten. It's about helping the horse and growing as a trainer. Thanks so much for being so open and sharing the good and hard times. ❤️

I understand that you are disappointed and my bouncy excited congratulations on doing such a hard thing may be better said later, but I was excited watching her and I was no less proud, because you risked and let us be a part of the journey so we saw how you have both changed. We know she can do so many things well! In my heart of hearts it would be so God sized if because of her score that someone could aford to purchase she and the horse from Triple B. Family is everything to them. How can I see how this turns out sooner lol. Oh! and the horses at the Therapeutic Riding Center react to our white paper hand outs, and Rick Gore's Mustang Mr. T has been sacked out too and startled when Rick had a white notebook during "The story of Buddy and Mr. T", I think it would be a helpful constructive matter to bring to their attention...that made so much sense that that bothered her, never mind the unfamiliar humans in the arena. I'm convinced this is going to turn out well. My genuine admiration and care, Laural
If it's any consolation at all. My domesticated horse would not have coped being put in a round pen and left for me to catch her. You honestly should be so incredibly proud of yourselves. Don't forget where Zurreal came from, how she started and where she is now. It's understandable to feel dissapointed and that's ok. But just take the time to remember the start of the journey and how far you've come. Great job both of you! X

Zurreal did AMAZING. there are so many people that will be more then happy to buy zurreal because she truly did great! every horse has there quirks, and zurreal’s is no where near as bad as some other horses. I am so impressed by you and the work you’ve done for sweet zurreal :) keep on keepin on!!

Hey, I feel your pain 100%. I am also entered in a training challenge, only with rescue horses instead of mustangs. The horse I was paired with has had setbacks and bad days- more than I can count. Been bucked off with my ego hurt more than my body, you know? I totally get what you're going through. All I can say is that when it comes to training, one horse, one show, one day, doesn't define your whole training career. Which you probably already know, but it doesn't hurt to hear it one more time. In my opinion you've done well with her.

I’m sure you’re right that the Palomino filly belonged to your mare. I wonder where that filly ended up. Your mare has the most beautiful head I’ve ever seen on a mustang. I’m not dissing Mustangs’ heads because many have nice heads. But this mare’s head is truly elegant.

just breathe and take a look back at how far you have come with her. She's doing great and has come a long way from that wild horse that had never been touched. you may not have done as good as everyone else but you two did good for YOU. She takes things slower and is a bit more cautious of things and that's ok, you never know maybe she really has seen that bear-eating horse that all the others swear is in that shadow on the ground. :)

This whole process of taming her I saw in one night and all I can say is congratz lady!
It went well! She was just a bit tense for a minute there but she relaxed as soon as you walked away from the trailer.

It is okay. She would do perfectly fine I a normal setting. I definitely can see why Zurreal acted the way she did. Not your fault or Zurreal’s fault. It can be challenging trying something out that you do over and over again in different scenarios. For example, if you see a rickety bridge that is 10 feet off he ground, you might be like this is fine. Now put that same rickety bridge 100 feet in the air. Would you still cross it? Same concept. I am happy to see your progress and happy of what you have taught her. Maybe the judges can find your UA-cam channel and learn the real Zurreal. Good luck!

It’s nothing as big but I was at our county fair with my two horses and I did a showman ship class with both of them and Daisy ripped my boot of while we were trotting so I had to Finnish the course barefoot then my hat flew off. When I was showing Swilly in the walk trot canter class she took off bucking down the center of the arena and she wouldn’t listen to me….. at all. I felt like a failure too, but there is always next time and you can only improve. Thought this would help you feel better! 🐴💕
